CAUTION
.Do not touch the mirrors while they are
moving. Your hand may be pinched, and
the mirror may malfunction.
. Do not drive with the mirrors stored. You
will be unable to see behind the vehicle.
. If the mirrors were folded or unfolded by
hand, there is a chance that the mirror
will move forward or backward during
driving. If the mirrors were folded or
unfolded by hand, be sure to adjust them again electrically before driving.
The outside rearview mirror remote control
operates when the ignition switch is in the
“ACC”
or“ON” position.
To fold the outside rearview mirrors, push
the outside rearview mirror folding switch
to the “CLOSE” position
*1. To unfold,
push to the “OPEN”position
*2.
If mirrors are manually operated or
bumped, the mirror body can become
loose at the pivot point. To correct electro-
nic mirror operation, cycle mirrors by
pushing the "CLOSE" switch until closed,
the push "OPEN" until mirror is in the open
position.

holding the SET switch for more than 10
seconds while the ignition switch is in the
ACC position.
The indicator lights on the memory
switches (1 and 2) will blink once when
the function is canceled, and the indicator
lights will blink twice when the function is
activated. Note that the indicator lights
may illuminate after 5 seconds while
holding the SET switch. This indicates
readiness for linking the Intelligent Key to
a stored memory position. Keep the SET
switch pushed for more than 10 seconds to
turn on or off the seat synchronization
function.

blinks, the Intelligent Key is linked to
that memory setting. Push the ignition switch to the OFF posi-
tion, and then push the

when the entry/exit function is set to
active.

WARNING
.The RearView camera is a convenience
but it is not a substitute to check behind
the vehicle when backing up.
. The driver is always responsible for
safety during parking and other maneu-
vers.
. Objects viewed in the RearView Monitor
differ from actual distance because a
wide-angle lens is used.
. Objects in the RearView Monitor will
appear visually opposite like ones
viewed in the inside and outside mirrors.
. Make sure that the lift gate is securely
closed when backing up.
. Underneath the bumper and the corner
areas of the bumper cannot be viewed on
the rearview monitor because of its
monitoring range limitation. .
Do not put anything on the rearview
camera. The rearview camera is installed
above the license plate.
. When washing the vehicle with high-
pressure water, be sure not to spray it
around the camera. Otherwise, water
may enter the camera unit causing water
condensation on the lens, a malfunction,
fire or an electric shock.
. Do not strike the camera. It is a precision
instrument. Otherwise, it may malfunc-
tion or cause damage resulting in a fire
or an electric shock.
CAUTION
Do not scratch the camera lens when
cleaning dirt or snow from the front of the
camera.

WARNING
.Always turn and check that it is safe to
park your car before backing up. Always
back up slowly.
. If the tires are replaced with different
sized tires, the predictive course line
may not be displayed correctly.
. On a snow-covered or slippery road,
there may be a difference between the
predictive course line and the actual
course line. .
The displayed lines will appear slightly
off to the right because the rearview
camera is not installed in the rear center
of the vehicle.
. The distance guide line and the vehicle
width guide line should be used as a
reference only when the vehicle is on a
level paved surface. The distance viewed
on the monitor is for reference only and
may be different than the actual distance
between the vehicle and displayed ob-
jects.
. When backing up the vehicle up a hill,
objects viewed in the monitor are further
than they appear. When backing up the
vehicle down a hill, objects viewed in the
monitor are closer than they appear. Use
the inside mirror or glance over your
shoulder to properly judge distances to
other objects.

There are some areas where the system
will not show objects. When in the front or
the rearview display, an object below the
bumper or on the ground may not be
viewed
*1. When in the bird-eye view, a
tall object near the seam of the camera
viewing areas will not appear in the monitor

WARNING
.
The Around View Monitor is a convenient
feature but it is not a substitute for
proper vehicle operation because it has
areas where objects cannot be viewed.
Always look out the windows and check
mirrors to be sure that it is safe to move.
The driver is always responsible for
safety during parking and other maneu-
vers.
. Do not use the Around View Monitor with
the outside mirror in the stored position,
and make sure that the lift gate is
securely closed when operating the
vehicle using the Around View Monitor.
. The distance between objects viewed on
the Around View Monitor differs from the
actual distance.
. The cameras are installed above the
front grille, the outside mirrors and
above the rear license plate. Do not put
anything on the cameras.
. When washing the vehicle with high-
pressure water, be sure not to spray it
around the cameras. Otherwise, water

bird-eye view are greatly affected by the
number of occupants, fuel level, vehicle
position, road condition and road grade.
. If the tires are replaced with different

than they appear. When driving the
vehicle down a hill, objects viewed in

properly judge distances to other ob-
jects.
. The vehicle width and predictive course
lines are wider than the actual width and
course.
. The distance between objects viewed in
the rearview differs from actual distance
because a wide-angle lens is used.
Objects in the rearview will appear
visually opposite than when viewed in
the rearview and outside mirrors.
. On a snow-covered or slippery road,
there may be a difference between the predictive course line and the actual
course line.
. The displayed lines on the rearview will
appear slightly off to the right because
the rearview camera is not installed in

WARNING
.Objects in the bird-eye view will appear
further than the actual distance because
the bird-eye view is a pseudo view that
is processed by combining the views
from the cameras on the outside mirrors,
the front and the rear of the vehicle.
. Tall objects, such as a curb or vehicle,
may be misaligned or not displayed at
the seam of the views.
. Objects that are above the camera
cannot be displayed.
. The view for the bird-eye view may be
misaligned when the camera position
alters.

When the“”*1is selected, the
indicator
*2will turn off and the sonar
will be turned off temporarily. The Moving
Object Detection (MOD) system will also be
turned off at the same time. (See “Moving
Object Detection (MOD)” (P.4-42).) When
the switch is selected again, the indicator
will turn on and the sonar will turn back on.
In the below cases, the sonar will be
turned back on automatically:
. When the selector lever is in the R
(Reverse) position.
. When the CAMERA button is pressed
and a screen other than the camera
view is shown on the display. .
When vehicle speed decreases below
approximately 6 MPH (10 km/h).
. When the ignition switch is placed in
the “OFF” position and turned back to
the “ON” position again.
. When the switch is selected, the MOD
function will also be turned off.
To prevent the sonar system from activat-
ing altogether, use the “Camera Settings”
menu. For more information, see “Around
view monitor settings” (P.4-45) in this
section.

WARNING
. The MOD system is not a substitute for
proper vehicle operation and is not
designed to prevent contact with the
objects surrounding the vehicle. When
maneuvering, always use the outside
mirror and rear view mirror and turn and

WARNING
.Do not use the MOD system when
towing a trailer. The system may not
function properly.
. Excessive noise (for example, audio
system volume or open vehicle window)
will interfere with the chime sound, and
it may not be heard.
. The MOD system performance will be
limited according to environmental con-
ditions and surrounding objects such as:
—When there is low contrast between
background and the moving objects.
—When there is blinking source oflight.
—When strong light such as anothervehicle’s headlight or sunlight is
present.
—When camera orientation is not inits usual position, such as when
mirror is folded.
—When there is dirt, water drops orsnow on the camera lens.
—When the position of the movingobjects in the display is not changed.
. The MOD system might detect some-
thing like flowing water droplets on the
camera lens, white smoke from the
muffler, moving shadows, etc.
. The MOD system may not function
properly depending on the speed, direc-
tion, distance or shape of the moving
objects.
. If your vehicle sustains damage to the
parts where the camera is installed,
leaving it misaligned or bent, the sen-
sing zone may be altered and the MOD
system may not detect objects properly.
