HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE THE LDW
SYSTEM
1. Press theorbutton on the
steering wheel
1to select the [DriveAssist]
menu on the Menu bar

[Lane Departure Warning].

When the LDW is activated, the vehicle
information display shows the lane mark-ings as bright lines in the assistance graphic
in the display area

When [Standard] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In
this event, the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving safety system intervenes, such as
ABS, brake assist system (BAS) or VDC.
When [Adaptive] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In
this case the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving system intervenes, such as ABS,
BAS or VDC.
•You accelerate forcefully.
•You brake forcefully.
•You steer actively, for example, swerve to
avoid an obstacle or change lane quickly.
•You cut the corner on a sharp bend.
The system may detect certain conditions and
warns you accordingly.The warning vibration occurs earlier if:
•You approach the outer lane marking on a
bend.
•The road has very wide lanes, for example, a
freeway.
•The system detects solid lane markings.
The warning vibration occurs later if:
•The road has narrow lanes.
•You cut across a corner on a bend.
LDW SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
LDW system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only a warning device to
inform the driver of a potential unintended
lane departure. It will not steer the vehicle
or prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely,
keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
•The system will not operate at speeds be-
low approximately 40 MPH (60 km/h) or if it
cannot detect lane markers.

RADAR MAINTENANCE
The two radar sensor unitsAfor the BSW
system are located near the rear bumper. Al-
ways keep the area near the radar sensors
clean.
The radar sensors may be blocked by temporary
ambient conditions such as splashing water,
mist or fog.
The blocked condition may also be caused by
objects such as ice, frost or dirt obstructing the
radar sensors.
Check for and remove objects obstructing the
area around the radar sensors.
Do not attach stickers (including transparent
material), install accessories or apply addi-
tional paint near the radar sensors.Do not strike or damage the area around the
radar sensors. It is recommended you consult
an INFINITI retailer if the area around the radar
sensors is damaged due to a collision.

for you. It brakes automatically in order to avoid
exceeding the set speed. You must select a
lower gear in good time on long and steep
downhill gradients, especially if the vehicle is

For vehicles with automatic transmission, you
need to have selected manual drive program M
(seeManual drive programearlier in this sec-
tion). By doing so, you will make use of the
braking effect of the engine. This relieves the
load on the brake system and prevents the
brakes from overheating and wearing too
quickly.
Use cruise control only if road and traffic con-
ditions are appropriate for maintaining a steady
speed for a prolonged period. You can set the
cruise control at any road speed above 20 MPH
(30 km/h).
The speed indicated in the speedometer may
differ slightly from the set speed.

WARNING
•If you fail to adapt your driving style, cruise
control can neither reduce the risk of an
accident nor override the laws of physics.
Cruise control cannot take into account
road, weather or traffic conditions. Cruise
control is only an aid. You are responsible
for the distance to the vehicle in front, for
vehicle speed, for braking in good time, and
for staying in lane.
•Always observe the posted speed limits and
do not set the speed over them.
•Do not use the cruise control when driving
under the following conditions. Doing so
could cause a loss of vehicle control and
result in an accident.
–When it is not possible to keep the ve-
hicle at a constant speed
–When driving in heavy traffic
–When driving in traffic that varies speed
–When driving in windy areas
–When driving on winding or hilly roads
–When driving on slippery (rain, snow,
ice, etc.) roads
CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONS
1Store the current speed or a higher
speed
2Store the current speed, or if a speed
has previously been stored, call up the
last stored speed.

4Deactivate the cruise control system
When you activate cruise control, the stored
speed is shown in the vehicle information dis-
play for five seconds.
Activation conditions
To activate cruise control, all of the following
activation conditions must be fulfilled:
•The electric parking brake must be released.
•You are driving faster than 20 MPH (30
km/h).
•VDC must be switched on, but not interven-
ing.
Storing, maintaining and calling up a
speed
Storing and maintaining the current speed:
You can store the current speed if you are
driving faster than 20 MPH (30 km/h):
1. Accelerate the vehicle to the desired speed.
2. Briefly press the cruise controller lever up
1or down3.
3. Remove your foot from the accelerator
pedal.
Cruise control is activated. The vehicle auto-
matically maintains the speed.
NOTE
Cruise control may be unable to maintain the
stored speed on uphill gradients. The stored
speed is resumed when the gradient evens out.
Cruise control maintains the stored speed on
downhill gradients by automatically braking the
vehicle.

WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions
for proper use of the ICC system could result in
serious injury or death.
•ICC is not a collision avoidance or warning
device. For highway and freeway way use
only and not intended for congested areas
or city driving. Failure to apply the brakes
could result in an accident. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
•Always observe posted speed limits and do
not set the speed over them.
•Always drive carefully and attentively when
using the ICC. Read and understand the
Owner’s Manual thoroughly before using
the ICC system. To avoid serious injury or
death, do not rely on the system to prevent
accidents or to control the vehicle’s speed
in emergency situations. Do not use the ICC
system except in appropriate road and traf-
fic conditions.

System operation
The driver sets the desired vehicle speed based
on the road conditions. The ICC system main-
tains the set vehicle speed, similar to standard
cruise control, as long as no vehicle is detected
in the lane ahead. The ICC system displays the
set speed for 5 seconds after the cruise control
lever is activated.
Vehicle detected ahead
:
When a vehicle is detected in the lane ahead,
the ICC system decelerates the vehicle by con-
trolling the throttle and applying the brakes to
match the speed of a slower vehicle ahead. The
system then controls the vehicle speed based
on the speed of the vehicle ahead to maintain
the driver selected distance.The brake lights of the vehicle come on when
braking is performed by the ICC system. When
the brake operates, a noise may be heard. This
is not a malfunction.
When a vehicle ahead is detected, the vehicle
ahead symbol
1appears in the vehicle infor-
mation display.
Vehicle ahead not detected
:
When a vehicle is no longer detected ahead, the
ICC system gradually accelerates your vehicle to
resume the previously set vehicle speed. The
ICC system then maintains the set speed.
When a vehicle is no longer detected, the
vehicle ahead display turns off
2.If a vehicle ahead appears during acceleration
to the set vehicle speed or any time the ICC
system is in operation, the system controls the
distance to that vehicle.
Changing lanes to pass another
vehicle:
When you changes lane to pass another ve-
hicle, ICC supports the action if:
•The vehicle speed is more than 45 MPH (70
km/h)
•The ICC is maintaining the distance to a
vehicle in front
•The respective turn signal is activated
If these conditions are met, the vehicle will be
accelerated. Acceleration will be interrupted if
changing lanes takes too long or if the distance
between your vehicle and the vehicle in front
becomes too small.

•The warning chime will not sound and the
distance warning light will not illuminate
when:
– The vehicle approaches other vehicles
that are parked or moving slowly.
– The accelerator pedal is depressed, over-
riding the system.
Also, the sensor sensitivity can be affected by
vehicle operation (steering maneuver or driving
position in the lane) or traffic or vehicle condi-
tion (for example, if a vehicle is being driven
with some damage).
Automatic cancellation
A chime sounds and the message [ICC off] is
displayed in the vehicle information display for
5 seconds under the following conditions and
the control is automatically canceled.
•The electric parking brake is applied.
•The VDC intervenes or the VDC is deactivated.
•The P (Park), R (Reverse) or N (Neutral)
position is engaged.
•The cruise control lever is pulled in order to
pull away but the front passenger door or
one of the rear doors is open.
•The vehicle is skidding or a wheel slips.
•Active Park Assist is activated.
ICC LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
ICC system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only an aid to assist the
driver and is not a collision warning or
avoidance device. It is the driver’s responsi-
bility to stay alert, drive safely and be in
control of the vehicle at all times.
•The system is primarily intended for use on
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It
is not advisable to use the system in city
traffic or congested areas.
•This system will not adapt automatically to
road conditions. This system should be
used in evenly flowing traffic. Do not use the
system on roads with sharp curves, or on icy
roads, in heavy rain or in fog.
•As there is a performance limit to the dis-
tance control function, never rely solely on
the ICC system. This system does not cor-
rect careless, inattentive or absent-minded
driving, or overcome poor visibility in rain,
fog, or other bad weather. Decelerate the
vehicle speed by depressing the brakepedal, depending on the distance to the ve-
hicle ahead and the surrounding circum-
stances in order to maintain a safe distance
between vehicles.
•If the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, the
vehicle decelerates to a standstill within
the limitations of the system. Once the ve-
hicle is stationary, it remains stationary and
you do not need to depress the brake pedal.
•Always pay attention to the operation of the
vehicle and be ready to manually control the
proper following distance. The ICC system
may not be able to maintain the selected
distance between vehicles (following dis-
tance) or selected vehicle speed under
some circumstances.
•Normally when controlling the distance to a
vehicle ahead, this system automatically
accelerates or decelerates your vehicle ac-
cording to the speed of the vehicle ahead. If
required, depress the accelerator to prop-
erly accelerate your vehicle when accelera-
tion is required for a lane change. Depress
the brake pedal when deceleration is re-
quired to maintain a safe distance to the
vehicle ahead due to its sudden braking or if
a vehicle cuts in. Always stay alert when
using the ICC system.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The sensorAis located behind the INFINITI
logo at the front of the vehicle.
To keep the system operating properly, be sure
to observe the following:
•Always keep the sensor area of the INFINITI
logo clean.
•Do not strike or damage the areas around
the sensor.
•Do not cover or attach stickers or similar
objects on the front bumper near the sensor
area. This could cause failure or malfunction.
•Do not attach metallic objects near the
sensor area (brush guard, etc.). This could
cause failure or malfunction.
•Do not alter, remove or paint the front grille
or INFINITI logo.

IPA is an electronic parking aid with ultrasound.
It detects vehicles and open spaces on both
sides of the vehicle. A parking symbol indicates
a suitable parking space. Active steering inter-
vention can assist you during parking and when
exiting a parking space. The driver controls the
accelerator, brake and gear shift. You may also
use the parking sensor system (seeParking
sensor system (if equipped)later in this sec-
tion).
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES
WARNING
•IPA is only an aid. It is not a substitute for
your attention to the immediate surround-
ings. The responsibility for safe maneuver-
ing and parking remains with you.
•Make sure that no persons, animals or ob-
jects are in the maneuvering range
•When the parking sensor system is deacti-
vated, IPA is also unavailable.
•While parking or pulling out of a parking
space, the vehicle swings out and can drive
onto areas of the oncoming lane. This could
cause you to collide with other road users.
There is a risk of an accident.
•Pay attention to other road users. Stop the
vehicle if necessary or cancel the IPA park-
ing procedure
•This system is not designed to prevent con-
tact with small or moving objects.
•If your vehicle sustains damage to the bumper
fascia, leaving it misaligned or bent, the sens-
ing zone may be altered causing inaccurate
measurement of obstacles or false alarms.
•This system is not designed to prevent con-
tact with small or moving objects.

CAUTION
Do not drive over obstacles such as curbs, as
you may damage the wheels or tires.
IPA may also display spaces not suitable for
parking, for example:
•Parking or stopping prohibition.
•In front of driveways or entrances and exits.
•Unsuitable surfaces.Parking tips:
•On narrow roads, drive as closely as pos-
sible past the parking space.
•Parking spaces that are littered or over-
grown might be identified or measured incor-
rectly.
•Parking spaces that are partly occupied by
trailer towing bars might not be identified as
such or be measured incorrectly.
•Snowfall or heavy rain may lead to a parking
space being measured inaccurately.
•Pay attention to the parking sensor system
warning messages during the parking proce-
dure.
•You can intervene in the steering procedure
to correct it at any time. IPA will then be
canceled.
•When transporting a load which protrudes
from your vehicle, you should not use IPA.
•Never use IPA when snow chains are fitted.
•Make sure that the tire pressures are always
correct. This has a direct influence on the
parking characteristics of the vehicle.

IPA is activated automatically when driving for-
wards. The system is operational at speeds of
up to approximately 19 MPH (30 km/h). While in
operation, the system independently locates
and measures parking spaces on both sides of
the vehicle
IPA will only detect parking spaces:
•Adjacent to the vehicle.
•Parallel or at right angles to the direction of
travel.
•That are parallel to the direction of travel
and are at least 5 ft (1.5 m) wide.
•That are parallel to the direction of travel
and at least 3.3 ft (1.0 m) longer than your
vehicle.
•That are at right angles to the direction of
travel and at least 3.3 ft (1.0 m) wider than
your vehicle.
NOTE
IPA cannot measure the length of a parking
space if it is at right angles to the direction of
travel. You will need to judge whether your ve-
hicle will fit in the parking space
When driving at speeds below 19 MPH (30
km/h) you will see parking symbol
2as a
status indicator in the vehicle information dis-
play. When a parking space has been detected,
an arrow towards the right
3or the left1also
appears. IPA only displays parking spaces on
the front-passenger side as standard. Parking
spaces on the driver’s side are displayed as
soon as the turn signal on the driver’s side is
activated. When parking on the driver’s side,
this must remain activated until you confirm the
use of IPA by pressing thebutton on the
steering wheel. The system automatically deter-
mines whether the parking space is parallel or
at right angles to the direction of travel.
A parking space is displayed while you are
driving past it, and until you are approximately
50 ft (15 m) away from it.
PARKING
NOTE
When the parking sensor system detects ob-
stacles, you are responsible for braking in good
time.
1. Stop the vehicle when the parking symbol
shows the desired parking space in the
combination meter
2. Shift into position R.
The [Start Park Assist? Yes: OK No:]
message appears in the vehicle information
display.
3. To cancel the procedure: press the
button on the steering wheel or pull away
or
4. To park using IPA press thebutton on
the steering wheel. The Park Assist [Observe
surroundings] message appears in the ve-
hicle information display.
5. Release the steering wheel.
6. Back up the vehicle, being ready to brake at
all times. When backing up, drive at a speed
below 5 MPH (10 km/h). Otherwise, IPA will
be canceled.
