TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Verify the location of all Intelligent Keys that are
programmed for the vehicle. If another Intelligent
Key is in range or inside the vehicle, the vehicle
system may respond differently than expected.

The Shift to Park warning appears on the display and the
outside chime sounds continuously. The ignition switch is in the ACC posi-
tion and the shift lever is not in the P
(Park) position.Move the shift lever to the P (Park) po-
sition and place the ignition switch in
the OFF position.
When closing the door with the inside
lock knob turned to LOCK The outside chime sounds for approximately 3 seconds
and all the doors unlock.
The Intelligent Key is inside the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
When pushing the door handle request
switch or the LOCK button on the Intel-
ligent Key to lock the door The outside chime sounds for approximately 2 seconds. The Intelligent Key is inside the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
When pushing the ignition switch to
start the engine The Intelligent Key battery indicator appears on the
display.
The battery charge is low.Replace the battery with a new one.
(See “Battery replacement” in the
“Maintenance and do-it-yourself”
section.)
The No Key Detected warning appears on the display,
the outside chime sounds 3 times and the inside warn-
ing chime sounds for approximately 3 seconds. The Intelligent Key is not in the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
When pushing the ignition switch The Intelligent Key system warning light in the meter illu-
minates in yellow. It warns of a malfunction with the Intelli-
gent Key system.
Contact an INFINITI retailer.

Thebutton will be on the INFINITI Intelli-
gent Key if the vehicle has remote engine start.
This feature allows the engine to start from out-
side the vehicle.
The following features may be affected when the
remote start feature is used:
● Vehicles with an automatic climate control
system will default to either a heating or
cooling mode depending on the outside
temperature.
● Vehicles without automatic climate control
will default to the last used heating or cool-
ing mode. ●
Vehicles equipped with heated seats may
have this feature come on during a remote
start. See “Heated front seats” in the “Instru-
ments and controls” section for more infor-
mation.
Laws in some local communities may restrict the
use of remote starters. For example, some laws
require a person using remote start to have the
vehicle in view. Check local regulations for any
requirements.
Other conditions may affect the function of the
Remote Engine Start feature. See “Conditions
the remote start will not work” in this section for
additional information.
Other conditions can affect the performance of
the Intelligent Key transmitter. See “INFINITI In-
telligent Key System” in this section for additional
information.
REMOTE ENGINE START
OPERATING RANGE
The remote engine start function can only be
used when the Intelligent Key is within the speci-
fied operating range from the vehicle.
When the Intelligent Key battery is discharged or
strong radio waves are present near the operat- ing location, the Intelligent Key operating range
becomes narrower, and the Intelligent Key may
not function properly.
The remote engine start operating range is ap-
proximately 197 ft (60 m) from the vehicle.
REMOTE STARTING THE VEHICLE
To use the remote start feature to start the engine
perform the following:
1. Aim the Intelligent Key at the vehicle.
2. Press the
LOCK button to lock all
doors.
3. Within 5 seconds press and hold the
remote start button until the turn signal lights
illuminate. If the vehicle is not within view
press and hold the
remote start but-
ton for about 2 seconds.
The following events will occur when the engine
starts: ● The parking lights will turn on and remain on
as long as the engine is running.
● The doors will be locked and the climate
control system may come on.

●The engine will continue to run for 10 min-
utes. Repeat the steps to extend the time for
an additional 10 minutes. See “Extending
engine run time” in this section.
Depress the brake and place the ignition switch
in the ON position before driving. For further
instructions see “Driving the vehicle” in the
“Starting and driving” section.
EXTENDING ENGINE RUN TIME
The remote start feature can be extended one
time by performing the steps listed in “Remote
starting the vehicle” in this section. Run time will
be calculated as follows: ● The first 10 minute run time will start when
the remote start function is performed.
● The second 10 minutes will start immedi-
ately when the remote start function is per-
formed. For example, if the engine has been
running for 5 minutes, and 10 minutes are
added, the engine will run for a total of
15 minutes.
A maximum of two remote starts, or a single start
with an extension, are allowed between ignition
cycles. The ignition switch must be cycled to the ON
position and then back to the OFF position be-
fore the remote start procedure can be used
again.
CANCELING A REMOTE START
To cancel a remote start, perform one of the
following:
● Aim the Intelligent Key at the vehicle and
press and hold
until the parking lights
turn off.
● Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
● Cycle the ignition switch ON and then OFF.
CONDITIONS THE REMOTE START
WILL NOT WORK
The remote start will not operate if any of the
following conditions are present:
● The ignition switch is placed in the ON po-
sition.
● The hood is not securely closed.
● The hazard warning lights are on.
● The I–Key Indicator Light
remains
solid in the vehicle information display.
● The alarm sounds due to illegal entry into the
vehicle. ●
The ignition switch is pushed without an
Intelligent Key in the vehicle.
● The ignition switch is pushed with an Intelli-
gent Key in the vehicle but the brake pedal is
not depressed.
● Two remote vehicle starts, or a single remote
start with an extension, have already been
used.
● The vehicle is not in P (Park) .
● The Remote Start function has been
switched to the OFF position in Vehicle Set-
tings of the vehicle information display. For
additional information, see “Vehicle informa-
tion display” in the “Instruments and con-
trols” section of this manual.
The remote engine start may display a warning or
indicator in the vehicle information display. For an
explanation of the warning or indicator please see
“Vehicle information display warning and indica-
tors” in the “Instruments and controls” section.

1Pull the hood lock release handle located
below the driver side instrument panel. The
hood will spring up slightly.
2Push the lever at the front of the hood to the
side as illustrated with your fingertips and
raise the hood.
When closing the hood, lower it slowly and make
sure it locks into place.
WARNING
● Make sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving. Fail-
ure to do so could cause the hood to fly
open and result in an accident.
● If you see steam or smoke coming from
the engine compartment, to avoid injury
do not open the hood.
WARNING
● Always be sure the liftgate has been
closed securely to prevent it from open-
ing while driving.
● Do not drive with the liftgate open. This
could allow dangerous exhaust gases
to be drawn into the vehicle. See “Ex-
haust gas” in the “Starting and driving”
section of this manual.
● Do not leave children unattended inside
the vehicle. They could unknowingly ac-
tivate switches or controls. Unattended
children could become involved in seri-
ous accidents.
● Always be sure that hands and feet are
clear of the door frame to avoid injury
while closing the liftgate.

To lock, close the fuel-filler door securely and
lock the doors.
FUEL-FILLER CAP
WARNING
●Gasoline is extremely flammable and
highly explosive under certain condi-
tions. You could be burned or seriously
injured if it is misused or mishandled.
Always stop the engine and do not
smoke or allow open flames or sparks
near the vehicle when refueling.
● Do not attempt to top off the fuel tank
after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off
automatically. Continued refueling may
cause fuel overflow, resulting in fuel
spray and possibly a fire.
● Use only an original equipment type
fuel-filler cap as a replacement. It has a
built-in safety valve needed for proper
operation of the fuel system and emis-
sion control system. An incorrect cap
can result in a serious malfunction and
possible injury. It could also cause
the
Malfunction Indicator Light
(MIL) to come on.
● Never pour fuel into the throttle body to
attempt to start your vehicle. ●
Do not fill a portable fuel container in
the vehicle or trailer. Static electricity
can cause an explosion of flammable
liquid, vapor or gas in any vehicle or
trailer. To reduce the risk of serious
injury or death when filling portable fuel
containers:
– Always place the container on the ground when filling.
– Do not use electronic devices when filling.
– Keep the pump nozzle in contact with the container while you are fill-
ing it.
– Use only approved portable fuel con- tainers for flammable liquid.
CAUTION
●Do not use E-15 or E-85 fuel in your
vehicle. For further information see the
“Fuel Recommendation” in the “Techni-
cal and consumer information” section
of this manual. ●
The LOOSE FUEL CAP warning will ap-
pear if the fuel-filler cap is not properly
tightened. It may take a few driving trips
for the message to be displayed. Failure
to tighten the fuel-filler cap properly
after the LOOSE FUEL CAP warning ap-
pears may cause the
Malfunction
Indicator Light (MIL) to illuminate.
● Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap
properly may cause the
Malfunc-
tion Indicator Light (MIL) to illuminate.
If the
light illuminates because
the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing,
tighten or install the cap and continue
to drive the vehicle. The
light
should turn off after a few driving trips.
If the
light does not turn off after a
few driving trips, have the vehicle in-
spected by an INFINITI retailer.

the “Instruments and Controls” section
in this manual.
● If fuel is spilled on the vehicle body,
flush it away with water to avoid paint
damage.

CAUTION
● The glass display screen may break if it
is hit with a hard or sharp object. If the
glass screen breaks, do not touch it.
Doing so could result in an injury.
● To clean the display, never use a rough
cloth, alcohol, benzine, thinner or any
kind of solvent or paper towel with a
chemical cleaning agent. They will
scratch or deteriorate the panel.
● Do not splash any liquid such as water
or car fragrance on the display. Contact
with liquid will cause the system to
malfunction.
When you use this system, make sure the engine
is running.
If you use the system with the engine not
running (ignition ON or ACC) for a long
time, it will discharge the battery, and the
engine will not start. Reference symbols:
ENTER button — This is a button on the control
panel.
“Example” — Words marked in quotes refer to a
key shown on the display. These keys can only be
selected using the INFINITI controller.
HOW TO USE THE INFINITI
CONTROLLER
Choose an item on the display by rotating or
pushing the center dial

before the operation is completed, the operation
will be canceled and/or the display will return to
the previous screen.
After the operation is complete, press either of

When you use this system, make sure the engine
is running.
If you use the system with the engine not
running (ignition ON or ACC) for a long
time, it will discharge the battery, and the
engine will not start.

WARNING
●The air conditioner cooling function op-
erates only when the engine is running.
● Do not leave children or adults who
would normally require the assistance
of others alone in your vehicle. Pets
should also not be left alone. They
could accidentally injure themselves or
others through inadvertent operation of
the vehicle. Also, on hot, sunny days,
temperatures in a closed vehicle could
quickly become high enough to cause
severe or possibly fatal injuries to
people or animals.
● Do not use the recirculation mode for
long periods as it may cause the interior
air to become stale and the windows to
fog up.

(automatic)

Start the engine and operate the controls to
activate the air conditioner.● Odors from inside and outside the vehicle
can build up in the air conditioner unit. Odor
can enter the passenger compartment
through the vents.
● When parking, set the heater and air condi-
tioner controls to turn off air recirculation to
allow fresh air into the passenger compart-
ment. This should help reduce odors inside
the vehicle.
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Cooling and/or dehumidified heating
(AUTO)
This mode may be used all year round as the
system automatically works to keep a constant
temperature. Air flow distribution, intake air con-
trol, and fan speed are also controlled automati-
cally.
1. Press the AUTO button on. (The indicator on the button will illuminate and AUTO will be
displayed.)
2. Operate the driver’s side temperature con- trol buttons.
● Adjust the temperature display to about
75°F (24°C) for normal operation. ●
The temperature of the passenger compart-
ment will be maintained automatically. Air
flow distribution, intake air control, and fan
speed are also controlled automatically.
● A visible mist may be seen coming from the
ventilators in hot, humid conditions as the air
is cooled rapidly. This does not indicate a
malfunction.
Dehumidified defrosting or defogging
1. Press thefront defroster button on.
(The indicator light on the button will come
on.)
2. Operate the temperature control buttons to set the desired temperature.
● To quickly remove ice from the outside of the
windows, use the fan speed control dial to
set the fan speed to maximum.
● As soon as possible after the windshield is
clean, press the AUTO button to return to
the automatic mode. ●
When the
front defroster button is
pressed, the air conditioner will automati-
cally be turned on at outside temperatures
above 36°F (2°C) . The air recirculate mode
automatically turns off, allowing outside air
to be drawn into the passenger compart-
ment to further improve the defogging per-
formance.
MANUAL OPERATION
Fan speed control
Press the fan control buttonsto manually
control the fan speed.
Press the AUTO button to return to automatic
control of the fan speed.
Temperature control
Press the temperature control buttons up or
down to set the desired temperature.
The temperature can be set within the following
range:
● For U.S.: 60 to 90ºF (16 to 32ºC)
● For Canada: 64 to 90ºF (18 to 32ºC)
