The higher the vehicle speed, the longer
the distance.
∙
If the engine is stopped, the set distance
becomes “long.” (Each time the engine is
started, the initial setting becomes “long.”)
Approach warning
If your vehicle comes closer to the vehicle
ahead due to rapid deceleration of that ve-
hicle or if another vehicle cuts in, the system
warns the driver with the chime and ICC sys-
tem display. Decelerate by depressing the
brake pedal to maintain a safe vehicle dis-
tance if: ∙ The chime sounds.
∙ The vehicle ahead detection indicator blinks.
The warning chime may not sound in some
cases when there is a short distance between
vehicles. Some examples are: ∙ When the vehicles are traveling at the same speed and the distance between
vehicles is not changing.
∙ When the vehicle ahead is traveling faster and the distance between vehicles
is increasing.
∙ When a vehicle cuts in near your vehicle.
The warning chime will not sound when: ∙ The vehicle approaches other vehicles that are parked or moving slowly.
∙ The accelerator pedal is depressed, over- riding the system. NOTE:
The approach warning chime may sound and
the system display may blink when the ICC
sensor detects objects on the side of the ve-
hicle or on the side of the road. This may
cause the ICC system to decelerate or accel-
erate the vehicle. The ICC sensor may detect
these objects when the vehicle is driven on
winding roads, narrow roads, hilly roads, or
when entering or exiting a curve. In these
cases you will have to manually control the
proper distance ahead of your vehicle.
Also, the sensor sensitivity can be affected
by vehicle operation (steering maneuver or
driving position in the lane) or traffic or ve-
hicle condition (for example, if a vehicle is
being driven with some damage).

∙ The system may not detect the vehicle infront of you in certain road or weather
conditions. To avoid accidents, never use
the ICC system under the following
conditions:
– On roads where the traffic is heavy or there are sharp curves
– On slippery road surfaces such as on ice or snow, etc.
– During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
– When rain, snow or dirt adhere to the bumper around the distance sensor
– On steep downhill roads (the vehicle may go beyond the set vehicle speed
and frequent braking may result in
overheating the brakes)
– On repeated uphill and downhill roads
– When traffic conditions make it diffi- cult to keep a proper distance be-
tween vehicles because of frequent
acceleration or deceleration
– Interference by other radar sources.
∙ Do not use the ICC system if you are tow- ing a trailer. The system may not detect a
vehicle ahead. ∙ In some road or traffic conditions, a ve-
hicle or object can unexpectedly come
into the sensor detection zone and cause
automatic braking. Always stay alert and
avoid using the ICC system where not
recommended in this warning section.
The radar sensor will not detect the following
objects: ∙ Stationary and slow moving vehicles
∙ Pedestrians or objects in the roadway
∙ Oncoming vehicles in the same lane
∙ Motorcycles traveling offset in the travel lane
The following are some conditions in which
the sensor cannot properly detect a vehicle
ahead and the system may not operate prop-
erly: ∙ When snow or road spray from traveling vehicles reduces the sensor’s detection.
∙ When excessively heavy baggage is loaded in the rear seat or the cargo area
of your vehicle.
The ICC system is designed to automatically
check the sensor’s operation within the limi-
tations of the system. The detection zone of the ICC sensor is lim-
ited. A vehicle ahead must be in the detection
zone for the vehicle-to-vehicle distance de-
tection mode to maintain the selected dis-
tance from the vehicle ahead.
A vehicle ahead may move outside of the
detection zone due to its position within the
same lane of travel. Motorcycles may not be
detected in the same lane ahead if they are
traveling offset from the centerline of the
lane. A vehicle that is entering the lane ahead
may not be detected until the vehicle has
completely moved into the lane.
If this occurs, the ICC system may warn you
by blinking the system indicator and sound-
ing the chime. The driver may have to manu-
ally control the proper distance away from
the vehicle traveling ahead.

The DCA system brakes and moves the ac-
celerator pedal upward according to the dis-
tance from and the relative speed of the ve-
hicle ahead to help assist the driver to
maintain a following distance.
DCA SYSTEM OPERATION
Always pay attention to the operation of the
vehicle and be ready to manually decelerate
to maintain the proper following distance.
The DCA system may not be able to deceler-
ate the vehicle under some circumstances.
The DCA system uses a sensor
Alocated
behind the front bumper of the vehicle to
detect vehicles traveling ahead. The sensor
generally detects the signals returned from
the vehicle ahead. Therefore, if the sensor
cannot detect the reflection from the vehicle
ahead, the DCA system may not operate. The system is intended to assist the driver to
keep a following distance from the vehicle
ahead traveling in the same lane and direc-
tion.
The distance sensor is located behind the
front bumper
A. If the distance sensorA
detects a slower moving vehicle ahead, the
system will reduce the vehicle speed to help
assist the driver to maintain a following dis-
tance.
The system automatically controls the
throttle and applies the brakes (up to 40% of
vehicle braking power) if necessary.
The detection range of the sensor is approxi-
mately 150 m (490 ft) ahead.
The distance sensor will not detect the fol-
lowing objects:
∙ Stationary and slow moving vehicles
∙ Pedestrians or objects in the roadway
∙ Oncoming vehicles in the same lane

Setting DCA system to ON/OFF:
The DCA can be turned on/off in the vehicle
information display using the buttons on the
steering wheel.1. Press the
button until “Settings”
displays in the vehicle information dis-
play. Use the
button to select
“Driver Assistance.” Then press the EN-
TER button.
2. Select “Driving Aids,” and press the EN- TER button.
3. Select “Forward,” and press the ENTER button.
4. To turn on the “Assistance (DCA)” check the box using the ENTER button.
If the LDP, BSI and DCA systems are set to
off in the vehicle information display and the
dynamic driver assistance switch is pushed,
the LDW ON indicator light, BSI ON indicator
light, and the DCA system switch indicator
light will blink for approximately 2 seconds.
For additional information on LDP and BSI,
refer to “Lane Departure Prevention (LDP)”
and “Blind Spot Intervention® (BSI)” in this
section.
DCA SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
∙ This system is only an aid to assist the driver and is not a collision warning or
avoidance device. It is the driver’s re-
sponsibility to stay alert, drive safely and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
∙ This system will not adapt automatically to road conditions.
∙ As there is a performance limit to the dis- tance control function, never rely solely
on the DCA system. This system does not
correct careless, inattentive or absent-
minded driving, or overcome poor visibil-
ity in rain, fog, or other bad weather. De-
celerate the vehicle speed by depressing
the brake pedal, depending on the dis-
tance to the vehicle ahead and the sur-
rounding circumstances in order to main-
tain a safe distance between vehicles.
∙ The system may not detect the vehicle in front of you in certain road or weather
conditions. To avoid accidents, never use
the DCA system under the following
conditions:
– On roads with sharp curves – On slippery road surfaces such as on
ice or snow, etc.
– During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
– When rain, snow or dirt adhere to the sensor area of the front bumper
– On steep downhill roads (frequent braking may result in overheating the
brakes)
– On repeated uphill and downhill roads
∙ Do not use the DCA system if you are towing a trailer. The system may not de-
tect a vehicle ahead.
∙ In some road or traffic conditions, a ve- hicle or object can unexpectedly come
into the sensor detection zone and cause
automatic braking. You may need to con-
trol the distance from other vehicles us-
ing the accelerator pedal. Always stay
alert and avoid using the DCA system
where not recommended in this warning
section.

The following are some conditions in which
the sensor cannot detect the signals:∙ When the reflector of the vehicle ahead is covered with dirt, snow and road spray
∙ When dense exhaust or other smoke (black smoke) from vehicles reduces the
sensor’s detection
∙ When excessively heavy baggage is loaded in the rear seat or the luggage
room of your vehicle
The DCA system is designed to automatically
check the sensor’s operation. When the front
bumper area around the distance sensor is
covered with dirt or is obstructed, the system
will automatically cancel. If the front bumper
area of the distance sensor is covered with
ice, a transparent or translucent vinyl bag,
etc., the DCA system may not detect them. In
these instances, the vehicle-to-vehicle dis-
tance control mode may not cancel and may
not be able to maintain the selected following
distance from the vehicle ahead. Be sure to
check and clean the front bumper area
around the distance sensor regularly.
The DCA system is designed to help assist the
driver to maintain a following distance from
the vehicle ahead. The system will decelerate
as necessary and if the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, the vehicle decelerates to a stand-
still. However, the DCA system can only ap-
ply up to 40% of the vehicle’s total braking
power. If a vehicle moves into the traveling
lane ahead or if a vehicle traveling ahead
rapidly decelerates, the distance between ve-
hicles may become closer because the DCA
system cannot decelerate the vehicle quickly
enough. If this occurs, the DCA system will
sound a warning chime and blink the system
display to notify the driver to take necessary
action.
For additional information, refer to “Ap-
proach warning” in this section.
This system only brakes and moves the accel-
erator pedal upward to help assist the driver
to maintain a following distance from the
vehicle ahead. Acceleration should be oper-
ated by the driver.
The DCA system does not control vehicle
speed or warn you when you approach sta-
tionary and slow moving vehicles. You must
pay attention to vehicle operation to main-
tain proper distance from vehicles ahead.

When driving on some roads, such as wind-
ing, hilly, curved, narrow roads, or roads
which are under construction, the sensor may
detect vehicles in a different lane, or may
temporarily not detect a vehicle traveling
ahead. This may cause the system to work
inappropriately.
The detection of vehicles may also be af-
fected by vehicle operation (steering maneu-
ver or traveling position in the lane, etc.) or
vehicle condition.If this occurs, the system may warn you by
blinking the system indicator and sounding
the chime unexpectedly. You will have to
manually control the proper distance away
from the vehicle traveling ahead.

– When installing a spare tire, make surethat it is the proper size and type as
specified on the tire placard. For addi-
tional information, refer to “Tire plac-
ard” in the “Technical and consumer
information” section of this manual.
– For additional information, refer to “Wheels and tires” in the “Mainte-
nance and do-it-yourself” section of
this manual.
The ABS controls the brakes so the wheels do
not lock during hard braking or when braking
on slippery surfaces. The system detects the
rotation speed at each wheel and varies the
brake fluid pressure to prevent each wheel
from locking and sliding. By preventing each
wheel from locking, the system helps the
driver maintain steering control and helps to
minimize swerving and spinning on slippery
surfaces.
Using the system
Depress the brake pedal and hold it down.
Depress the brake pedal with firm steady
pressure, but do not pump the brakes. The
Anti-lock Braking System will operate to pre-
vent the wheels from locking up. Steer the
vehicle to avoid obstacles.
WARNING
Do not pump the brake pedal. Doing so may
result in increased stopping distances.
Self-test feature
The ABS includes electronic sensors, electric
pumps, hydraulic solenoids and a computer.
The computer has a built-in diagnostic fea-
ture that tests the system each time you start
the engine and move the vehicle at a low
speed in forward or reverse. When the self-
test occurs, you may hear a “clunk” noise
and/or feel a pulsation in the brake pedal.
This is normal and does not indicate a mal-
function. If the computer senses a malfunc-
tion, it switches the ABS off and illuminates
the ABS warning light on the instrument
panel. The brake system then operates nor-
mally, but without anti-lock assistance.
If the ABS warning light illuminates during
the self-test or while driving, have the vehicle
checked. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
Normal operation
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) operates
at speeds above5-10km/h (3 - 6 mph). The
speed varies according to road conditions. When the ABS senses that one or more
wheels are close to locking up, the actuator
rapidly applies and releases hydraulic pres-
sure. This action is similar to pumping the
brakes very quickly. You may feel a pulsation
in the brake pedal and hear a noise from
under the hood or feel a vibration from the
actuator when it is operating. This is normal
and indicates that the ABS is operating prop-
erly. However, the pulsation may indicate
that road conditions are hazardous and extra
care is required while driving.
BRAKE ASSIST
When the force applied to the brake pedal
exceeds a certain level, the brake assist is
activated generating greater braking force
than a conventional brake booster even with
light pedal force.
WARNING
The brake assist is only an aid to assist
braking operation and is not a collision
warning or avoidance device. It is the driv-
er’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely
and be in control of the vehicle at all times.

The VDC system uses various sensors to
monitor driver inputs and vehicle motion. Un-
der certain driving conditions, the VDC sys-
tem helps to perform the following functions:∙ Controls brake pressure to reduce wheel slip on one slipping drive wheel so power
is transferred to a non-slipping drive
wheel on the same axle.
∙ Controls brake pressure and engine out- put to reduce drive wheel slip based on
vehicle speed (traction control function).
∙ Controls brake pressure at individual wheels and engine output to help the
driver maintain control of the vehicle in
the following conditions:
– Understeer (vehicle tends to not fol- low the steered path despite in-
creased steering input)
– Oversteer (vehicle tends to spin due to certain road or driving conditions)
The VDC system can help the driver to main-
tain control of the vehicle, but it cannot pre-
vent loss of vehicle control in all driving situ-
ations. When the VDC system operates, the
indicator in the instrument panel flashes to
note the following:
∙ The road may be slippery or the system may determine some action is required to
help keep the vehicle on the steered path.
∙ You may feel a pulsation in the brake pedal and hear a noise or vibration from
under the hood. This is normal and indi-
cates that the VDC system is working
properly.
∙ Adjust your speed and driving to the road conditions.
For additional information, refer to “Slip indi-
cator light” and ”Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) OFF indicator light” in the ”Instruments
and controls” section of this manual.
If a malfunction occurs in the system,
the
andindicator lights come on
in the instrument panel. The VDC system au-
tomatically turns off when these indicator
lights are on.
The VDC OFF switch is used to turn off the
VDC system. The
indicator illuminates
to indicate the VDC system is off. When the VDC switch is used to turn off the
system, the VDC system still operates to pre-
vent one drive wheel from slipping by trans-
ferring power to a non-slipping drive wheel.
The
indicator flashes if this occurs. All
other VDC functions are off and the
indicator will not flash.
The VDC system is automatically reset to on
when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF
position then back to the ON position.
The computer has a built-in diagnostic feature
that tests the system each time you start the
engine and move the vehicle forward or in re-
verse at a slow speed. When the self-test oc-
curs, you may hear a clunk noise and/or feel a
pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal and
is not an indication of a malfunction.
WARNING
∙ The VDC system is designed to help the driver maintain controllability but does
not prevent accidents due to abrupt
steering operation at high speeds or by
careless or dangerous driving techniques.
Reduce vehicle speed and be especially
careful when driving and cornering on
slippery surfaces and always drive
carefully.

WARNING
∙ Never rely solely on the hill start assistsystem to prevent the vehicle from mov-
ing backward on a hill. Always drive care-
fully and attentively. Depress the brake
pedal when the vehicle is stopped on a
steep hill. Be especially careful when
stopped on a hill on frozen or muddy
roads. Failure to prevent the vehicle from
rolling backwards may result in a loss of
control of the vehicle and possible serious
injury or death.
∙ The hill start assist system is not de- signed to hold the vehicle at a standstill
on a hill. Depress the brake pedal when
the vehicle is stopped on a steep hill. Fail-
ure to do so may cause the vehicle to roll
backwards and may result in a collision or
serious personal injury.
∙ The hill start assist system may not pre- vent the vehicle from rolling backwards
on a hill under all load or road conditions.
Always be prepared to depress the brake
pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling
backwards. Failure to do so may result in
a collision or serious personal injury. When the vehicle is stopped on a hill, the hill
start assist system automatically keeps the
brakes applied to help prevent the vehicle
from rolling backward in the time it takes the
driver to release the brake pedal and apply
the accelerator.
The hill start assist system will operate auto-
matically under the following conditions:
∙ The transmission is shifted to a forward or reverse gear.
∙ The vehicle is stopped completely on a hill by applying the brake. The maximum
holding time is 2 seconds. After 2 sec-
onds the vehicle will begin to roll back and
the hill start assist system will stop oper-
ating completely.
The hill start assist system will not operate
when the shift lever is placed in the N (Neu-
tral) or P (Park) position or on a flat and level
road. The sonar (parking sensor) system sounds a
tone to inform the driver of obstacles near
the bumper.
When the sonar system is turned on, the
sonar view will automatically appear in the
center display when the camera is activated.
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions for proper use of the sonar system
could result in serious injury or death.

SONAR LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for
the sonar system. Failure to operate the
vehicle in accordance with these system
limitations could result in serious injury or
death.
∙ Read and understand the limitations ofthe sonar system as contained in this sec-
tion. Inclement weather may affect the
function of the sonar system; this may
include reduced performance or a false
activation.
∙ The system is deactivated at speeds above 10 km/h (6 mph). It is reactivated
at lower speeds.
∙ Inclement weather or ultrasonic sources such as an automatic car wash, a truck’s
compressed-air brakes or a pneumatic
drill may affect the function of the sys-
tem; this may include reduced perfor-
mance or a false activation.
∙ The system is not designed to prevent contact with small or moving objects. Al-
ways move slowly. The system will not
detect small objects below the bumper or
on the ground. ∙ The system may not detect the following
objects: fluffy objects such as snow,
cloth, cotton, glass-wool, etc., or thin ob-
jects such as rope, wire and chain, etc., or
wedge-shaped objects.
∙ The system may not detect objects at speeds above 5 km/h (3 mph) and may
not detect certain angular or moving
objects.
SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
When sonar blockage is detected, the system
will be deactivated automatically.
The system is not available until the condi-
tions no longer exist.
The sonar sensors may be blocked by tempo-
rary ambient conditions such as splashing
water, mist or fog. The blocked condition
may also be caused by objects such as ice,
frost or dirt obstructing the sonar sensors.
Action to take:
When the above conditions no longer exist,
the system will resume automatically.
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The sonar sensors are located on the front
and rear bumpers. Always keep the area near
the sonar sensors clean.
The sonar sensors may be blocked by tempo-
rary ambient conditions such as splashing
water, mist or fog.
The blocked condition may also be caused by
objects such as ice, frost or dirt obstructing
the sonar sensors.
Check for and remove objects obstructing
the area around the sonar sensors.
