Please observe the following precautions:
WARNING
∙ Spinning the front wheels on slipperysurfaces may cause the AWD warning
message to display and the AWD system
to automatically switch from the AWD to
the 2WD mode. This could reduce the
traction. Be especially careful when tow-
ing a trailer. (AWD models)
∙ Drive carefully when off the road and avoid dangerous areas. Every person
who drives or rides in this vehicle should
be seated with their seat belt fastened.
This will keep you and your passengers in
position when driving over rough terrain.
∙ Do not drive across steep slopes. Instead drive either straight up or straight down
the slopes. Off-road vehicles can tip over
sideways much more easily than they can
forward or backward.
∙ Many hills are too steep for any vehicle. If you drive up them, you may stall. If you
drive down them, you may not be able to
control your speed. If you drive across
them, you may roll over. ∙ Do not shift gears while driving on down-
hill grades as this could cause loss of con-
trol of the vehicle.
∙ Stay alert when driving to the top of a hill. At the top there could be a drop-off
or other hazard that could cause an
accident.
∙ If your engine stalls or you cannot make it to the top of a steep hill, never attempt to
turn around. Your vehicle could tip or roll
over. Always back straight down in R
(Reverse) gear and apply brakes to con-
trol your speed.
∙ Heavy braking going down a hill could cause your brakes to overheat and fade,
resulting in loss of control and an acci-
dent. Apply brakes lightly and use a low
gear to control your speed.
∙ Unsecured cargo can be thrown around when driving over rough terrain. Prop-
erly secure all cargo so it will not be
thrown forward and cause injury to you
or your passengers.
∙ Secure heavy loads in the cargo area as far forward and as low as possible. Do not
equip the vehicle with tires larger than
specified in this manual. This could cause
your vehicle to roll over. ∙ Do not grip the inside or spokes of the
steering wheel when driving off-road.
The steering wheel could move suddenly
and injure your hands. Instead drive with
your fingers and thumbs on the outside of
the rim.
∙ Before operating the vehicle, ensure that the driver and all passengers have their
seat belts fastened.
∙ Always drive with the floor mats in place as the floor may become hot.
∙ Lower your speed when encountering strong crosswinds. With a higher center
of gravity, your INFINITI is more affected
by strong side winds. Slower speeds en-
sure better vehicle control.
∙ Do not drive beyond the performance ca- pability of the tires, even with AWD
engaged.
∙ For AWD equipped vehicles, do not at- tempt to raise two wheels off the ground
and shift the transmission to any drive or
reverse position with the engine running.
Doing so may result in drivetrain damage
or unexpected vehicle movement which
could result in serious vehicle damage or
personal injury.

∙ Do not attempt to test an AWD equippedvehicle on a 2-wheel dynamometer (such
as the dynamometers used by some
states for emissions testing), or similar
equipment even if the other two wheels
are raised off the ground. Make sure you
inform test facility personnel that your
vehicle is equipped with AWD before it is
placed on a dynamometer. Using the
wrong test equipment may result in
drivetrain damage or unexpected vehicle
movement which could result in serious
vehicle damage or personal injury.
∙ When a wheel is off the ground due to an unlevel surface, do not spin the wheel
excessively.WARNING
Do not operate the push-button ignition
switch while driving the vehicle except in an
emergency. (The engine will stop when the
ignition switch is pushed three consecutive
times in quick succession or the ignition
switch is pushed and held for more than
2 seconds.) If the engine stops while the
vehicle is being driven, this could lead to a
crash and serious injury.
When the ignition switch is pushed without
depressing the brake pedal, the ignition
switch will illuminate.
Push the ignition switch center:∙ Once to change to ACC.
∙ Two times to change to ON.
∙ Three times to return to OFF.
The ignition switch will automatically return
to the LOCK position when any door is either
opened or closed with the switch in the OFF
position.

ACC (Accessories)
This position activates electrical accessories,
such as the radio, when the engine is not
running.
ACC has a battery saver feature that will
place the ignition switch in the OFF position
after a period of time under the following
conditions:∙ All doors are closed.
∙ The shift lever is in P (Park).
The battery saver feature will be canceled if
any of the following occur: ∙ Any door is opened.
∙ The shift lever is moved out of P (Park).
∙ The ignition switch changes position. ON (Normal operating position)
This position turns on the ignition system and
electrical accessories.
ON has a battery saver feature that will place
the ignition switch in the OFF position, if the
vehicle is not running, after some time under
the following conditions:
∙ All doors are closed.
∙ The shift lever is in P (Park).
The battery saver feature will be canceled if
any of the following occur: ∙ Any door is opened.
∙ The shift lever is moved out of the P (Park) position.
∙ The ignition switch changes position.
CAUTION
Do not leave the vehicle with the ignition
switch in ACC or ON positions when the
engine is not running for an extended pe-
riod. This can discharge the battery. OFF
The ignition switch is in the OFF position
when the engine is turned off using the igni-
tion switch. No lights will illuminate on the
ignition switch.
EMERGENCY ENGINE SHUT OFF
To shut off the engine in an emergency situ-
ation while driving, perform the following
procedure:
∙ Rapidly push the push-button ignition switch three consecutive times in less
than 1.5 seconds, or
∙ Push and hold the push-button ignition switch for more than 2 seconds.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The sensor for the ICC systemAis located
on the front of the vehicle.
To keep the ICC system operating properly,
be sure to observe the following:
∙ Always keep the sensor area clean.
∙ Do not strike or damage the areas around the sensor. ∙ Do not touch or remove the screw lo-
cated on the sensor. Doing so could
cause failure or malfunction. If the sensor
is damaged due to an accident, it is rec-
ommended that you visit an INFINITI re-
tailer.
∙ Do not attach a sticker (including trans- parent material) or install an accessory
near the sensor. This could cause failure
or malfunction.
∙ Do not attach metallic objects near the sensor area (brush guard, etc.) This could
cause failure or malfunction.
∙ Do not alter, remove, or paint the front bumper. Before customizing or restoring
the front bumper, it is recommended that
you visit an INFINITI retailer.

in the P (Park) position and turn the engine
off. Clean the radar cover on the lower grille
with a soft cloth, and restart the engine. If the
warning light continues to illuminate, have
the PFCW system checked. It is recom-
mended that you visit an INFINITI retailer for
this service.
NOTE:
If the FEB with Pedestrian Detection system
stops working, the PFCW system (if so
equipped) will also stop working.
SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
If the PFCW system malfunctions, it will be
turned off automatically, a chime will sound,
the FEB with Pedestrian Detection system
warning light (orange) will illuminate and the
warning message [Malfunction] will appear
in the vehicle information display.
Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop
the vehicle in a safe location, turn the engine
off and restart the engine. If the warning light
continues to illuminate, have the PFCW sys-
tem checked. It is recommended that you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service.SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

Push the switch on to warn other drivers
when you must stop or park under emer-
gency conditions. All turn signal lights flash.
WARNING
∙ If stopping for an emergency, be sure tomove the vehicle well off the road.
∙ Do not use the hazard warning flashers while moving on the highway unless un-
usual circumstances force you to drive so
slowly that your vehicle might become a
hazard to other traffic.
∙ Turn signals do not work when the haz- ard warning flasher lights are on. The flashers will operate with the ignition
switch in any position.
Some jurisdictions may prohibit the use of
the hazard warning flasher switch while
driving.
To shut off the engine in an emergency situ-
ation while driving, perform the following
procedure:
– Rapidly push the push-button ignition
switch three consecutive times in less than
1.5 seconds, or
– Push and hold the push-button ignition switch for more than 2 seconds.

5. Raise the hood to warn other traffic andto signal professional road assistance
personnel that you need assistance.
6. Have all passengers get out of the ve- hicle and stand in a safe place, away
from traffic and clear of the vehicle.
WARNING
∙ Make sure the parking brake is securelyapplied and the Continuously Variable
Transmission (CVT) is shifted into P
(Park).
∙ Never change tires when the vehicle is on a slope, ice or slippery areas. This is
hazardous.
∙ Never change tires if oncoming traffic is close to your vehicle. Wait for profes-
sional road assistance.

Blocking wheels
Place suitable blocks at both the front and
back of the wheel diagonally opposite the flat
tire to prevent the vehicle from moving when
it is jacked up.
WARNING
Be sure to block the wheel as the vehicle
may move and result in personal injury.
Getting the spare tire and tools
1. Open the liftgate and lift the luggage board in the cargo area using the handle.

5. The lowering mechanism for the spare tire is located on the passenger side of
the cargo area. Remove the cover

7. To lower the spare tire, insert the wheel nut wrench

and insert the T-shaped end of the jack-
ing rod into the winch socket

rotate counterclockwise.
8. Once the spare tire is lowered, release it from the vehicle by guiding the lowering
cable and winch through the center of
the tire. NOTE:
Fully lower the spare tire below the vehicle
before attempting to remove the winch from
the spare tire.
9. After removing the spare tire from under the vehicle, be sure to crank the cable up
by rotating the winch socket clockwise
to stow it.
10. Securely store the flat tire, tools and jacking equipment in the vehicle.
CAUTION
∙ Make sure safety cable is coiled abovespare tire when reinstalling spare
tire/wheel.
∙ When re-installing the spare tire under the vehicle after use, be sure to secure it
with the tire stem facing down toward
the ground. If the spare tire is improperly
secured with the tire stem facing up to-
wards the bottom of the vehicle, there is
an increased risk of separating from the
vehicle in the event of a crash which may
pose a hazard in traffic or risk of injury to
