Auto-reverse function
The auto-reverse function can be activated
when a window is closed by automatic op-
eration.
Depending on the environment or driving
conditions, the auto-reverse function may
be activated if an impact or load similar to
something being caught in the window oc-
curs.
WARNING
There are some small distances immedi-
ately before the closed position which can-
not be detected. Make sure that all passen-
gers have their hands, etc., inside the
vehicle before closing the window.
If the vehicle’s battery is disconnected, re-
placed, or jump started, the power window
auto-reverse function may not operate prop-
erly. If this occurs, it is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer to re-initialize the
power window auto-reverse system.
If the control unit detects something caught
in a window equipped with automatic opera-
tion as it is closing, the window will be imme-
diately lowered.
When power window switch does
not operate
If the power window automatic function
(closing only) does not operate properly, per-
form the following procedure to initialize the
power window system: 1. Place the ignition switch in the ON posi- tion.
2. Open the window more than halfway by operating the power window switch.
3. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the
switch more than 3 seconds after the
window is closed.
4. Release the power window switch. Op- erate the window by the automatic
function to confirm the initialization is
complete. The power window automati-
cally opens or closes depending on if the
automatic down or up function is se-
lected.
5. Perform steps 2 through 4 above for other windows. If the power window function does not oper-
ate properly after performing the above pro-
cedure have the system checked and re-
paired. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.

Trailers equipped with electric brakes may
require the installation of an aftermarket
trailer brake controller.
Your vehicle is equipped with a connector
and jumper harness that is specifically de-
signed to be used when installing an after-
market brake controller.

To install the electric trailer brake controller
jumper harness, perform the following proce-
dure:1. Open the driver door. Move the seat to the rearmost position.
2. Locate the jumper harness connectorunder the lower portion of the instru-
ment panel. The connector is taped to
the wiring harness
1as indicated.
∙ The connector is marked with a white tag with “elec brake conn”.

3. Peel off the tape and connect the jumperharness to the connector .
4. Release the parking brake.
5. Install the aftermarket electric trailer brake controller according to the manu-
facturer’s instructions.
WARNING
∙ If the engine is not running or is turned offwhile driving, the power assist for the
steering will not work. Steering will be
harder to operate.
∙ When the power steering warning light illuminates with the engine running,
there will be no power assist for the
steering. You will still have control of the
vehicle but the steering will be harder to
operate. Have the power steering system
checked. It is recommended that you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service.
The power steering system is designed to
provide power assist while driving to operate
the steering wheel with light force.
When the steering wheel is operated repeat-
edly or continuously while parking or driving
at a very low speed, the power assist for the
steering wheel will be reduced. This is to pre-
vent overheating of the power steering sys-
tem and protect it from getting damaged.
While the power assist is reduced, steering
wheel operation will become heavy. If the
steering wheel operation is still performed,
the power steering may stop and the power
steering warning light will illuminate. In a safe
location, stop the engine and push the igni-
tion switch to the OFF position. The temperature of the power steering sys-
tem will go down after a period of time and
the power assist level will return to normal
after starting the engine. The power steering
warning light will go off. Avoid repeating
such steering wheel operations that could
cause the power steering system to overheat.
You may hear a sound from the front of the
vehicle when the steering wheel is operated
quickly. This is a normal operational noise and
is not a malfunction.
If the power steering warning light
PSillumi-
nates while the engine is running, it may indi-
cate the power steering system is not func-
tioning properly and may need servicing.
Have the power steering system checked. It is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI re-
tailer for this service.
When the power steering warning light illu-
minates with the engine running, there will be
no power assist for the steering but you will
still have control of the vehicle. At this time,
greater steering effort is required to operate
the steering wheel, especially in sharp turns
and at low speeds.

and controls” section of this manual.

To start your engine with a booster battery,
the instructions and precautions below must
be followed.
WARNING
∙ If done incorrectly, jump starting can leadto a battery explosion, resulting in severe
injury or death. It could also damage your
vehicle.
∙ Explosive hydrogen gas is always present in the vicinity of the battery. Keep all
sparks and flames away from the
battery.
∙ Do not allow battery fluid to come into contact with eyes, skin, clothing or
painted surfaces. Battery fluid is a corro-
sive sulfuric acid solution which can cause
severe burns. If the fluid should come into
contact with anything, immediately flush
the contacted area with water.
∙ Keep battery out of the reach of children.
∙ The booster battery must be rated at 12 volts. Use of an improperly rated bat-
tery can damage your vehicle. ∙ Whenever working on or near a battery,
always wear suitable eye protectors (for
example, goggles or industrial safety
spectacles) and remove rings, metal
bands, or any other jewelry. Do not lean
over the battery when jump starting.
∙ Do not attempt to jump start a frozen battery. It could explode and cause seri-
ous injury.
∙ Your vehicle has an automatic engine cooling fan. It could come on at any time.
Keep hands and other objects away from
it.

WARNING
Always follow the instructions below. Fail-
ure to do so could result in damage to the
charging system and cause personal injury.1. If the booster battery is in another ve- hicle, position the two vehicles to bring
their batteries near each other.
Do not allow the two vehicles to touch.
2. Apply the parking brake. Move the shift lever to P (Park). Switch off all unneces-
sary electrical systems (lights, heater, air
conditioner, etc.). 3. Ensure the vent caps are level and tight.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the se-
quence illustrated (A,B,C,D).
CAUTION
∙ Always connect positive () to positive() and negative () to body ground (for
example, strut mounting bolt, engine lift
bracket, etc.) — not to the battery.
∙ Make sure the jumper cables do not touch moving parts in the engine compartment
and that the cable clamps do not contact
any other metal. 5. Start the engine of the booster vehicle
and let it run for a few minutes.
6. Keep the engine speed of the booster vehicle at about 2,000 rpm and start the
engine of the vehicle being jump started.
CAUTION
Do not keep the starter motor engaged for
more than 10 seconds. If the engine does
not start right away, place the ignition
switch in the OFF position and wait 3 to
4 seconds before trying again.
7. After starting the engine, carefully dis- connect the negative cable and then the
positive cable.

2. Check the fluid level in each cell. If it isnecessary to add fluid, add only distilled
water to bring the level up to the bottom
of the filler opening. Do not overfill.Re-
install the vent caps. Vehicles operated in high temperatures or
under severe conditions require frequent
checks of the battery fluid level.
JUMP STARTING
If jump starting is necessary, refer to “Jump
starting” in the “In case of emergency” section
of this manual. If the engine does not start by
jump starting, the battery may have to be
replaced. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.

WARNING
Be sure the ignition key is in the OFF or
LOCK position before servicing drive belt.
The engine could rotate unexpectedly.
1. Visually inspect the belt for signs of un- usual wear, cuts, fraying or looseness. If
the belt is in poor condition or is loose,
have it replaced or adjusted. It is recom-
mended that you visit an INFINITI re-
tailer for this service.
