JACKING AND TIRE CHANGING
WARNING!
• Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the vehicle close to movingtraffic. Pull far enough off the road to avoid the danger of being hit when
operating the jack or changing the wheel.
• Being under a jacked-up vehicle is dangerous. The vehicle could slip off the
jack and fall on you. You could be crushed. Never put any part of your body
under a vehicle that is on a jack. If you need to get under a raised vehicle, take
it to a service center where it can be raised on a lift.
• Never start or run the engine while the vehicle is on a jack.
• The jack is designed to be used as a tool for changing tires only. The jack
should not be used to lift the vehicle for service purposes. The vehicle should
be jacked on a firm level surface only. Avoid ice or slippery areas.
Jack Location
The jack and jack-handle are stowed under the load floor in the cargo area.
Spare Tire Stowage
The compact spare tire is stowed under
the rear load floor in the cargo area.
Spare Tire Removal
Lift up the load floor cover and remove
the hold down.

CAUTION!
Do not attempt to raise the vehicle by jacking on locations other than those
indicated in the Jacking Instructions for this vehicle.
NOTE:
Refer to “Tires — General Information” in “Starting And Operating” in the Owner’s
Manual on the DVD for further information about the spare tire, it's use, and operation.
1. Remove the scissors jack and lug wrench from the spare wheel as an assembly. Turn the jack screw to the left to loosen the lug wrench and remove the wrench
from the jack assembly.
NOTE:
The jack handle attaches to the side of the jack with two attachment points. When
the jack is partially expanded, the tension between the two attachment points holds
the jack handle in place.
2. Loosen, but do not remove, the wheel nuts by turning them to the left one turn while the wheel is still on the ground.
NOTE:
There are front and rear jacking locations on each side of the body. The front locations
are outlined by two triangular cutouts on one of the flanges in the sill flange
assembly. The rear location is the same but with two rectangular cutouts. For vehicles
equipped with plastic trim, the plastic has been cut away to expose the jacking
locations in the body.

CAUTION!

sure the jack is securely engaged.
3. Turn the jack screw to the left until the jack can be placed under the jacking
location. Once the jack is positioned,
turn the jack screw to the right until
the jack head is properly engaged with
the lift area closest to the wheel to be
changed.
WARNING!
Raising the vehicle higher than necessary can make the vehicle less stable. It
could slip off the jack and hurt someone near it. Raise the vehicle only enough to
remove the tire.
4. Using the swivel wrench raise the vehicle by turning the jack screw to the right. Raise the vehicle only until the tire just clears the surface and enough clearance
is obtained to install the spare tire. Minimum tire lift provides maximum stability.

CAUTION!
• When installing the IPM cover, it is important to ensure the cover is properlypositioned and fully latched. Failure to do so may allow water to get into the
IPM, and possibly result in an electrical system failure.
• When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the
correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated
may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse
continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected.
TIRES — GENERAL INFORMATION
TIRE PRESSURES
Check the inflation pressure of each tire, including the spare tire (if equipped), at
least monthly and inflate to the recommended pressure for your vehicle.
The tire pressures recommended for your vehicle are found on the “Tire and Loading
Information” label located on the driver’s side door opening or B pillar.
