TOWING A DISABLED VEHICLE
This section describes procedures for towing a disabled vehicle using a commercial
towing service. If the transmission and drivetrain are operable, disabled vehicles may
also be towed as described under “Recreational Towing” in the “Starting and
Operating” section in the Owners Manual on the DVD.
NOTE:
Vehicles equipped with Quadra-Lift must be placed in Transport mode, before tying
them down (from the body) on a trailer or flatbed truck. Refer to the section on
Quadra-Lift for more information. If the vehicle cannot be placed in Transport mode
(for example, engine will not run), tie-downs must be fastened to the axles (not to the
body). Failure to follow these instructions may cause fault codes to be set and/or
cause loss of proper tie-down tension.

NOTE:
SRT vehicles and 4WD models without 4WD LOW range should only be towed with all
four wheelsOFFthe ground.
Proper towing or lifting equipment is required to prevent damage to your vehicle. Use
only tow bars and other equipment designed for this purpose, following equipment
manufacturer’s instructions. Use of safety chains is mandatory. Attach a tow bar or
other towing device to main structural members of the vehicle, not to bumpers or
associated brackets. State and local laws regarding vehicles under tow must be
observed.

Brake Master Cylinder We recommend you use MOPAR DOT 3
Brake Fluid, SAE J1703 should be used. If
DOT 3, SAE J1703 brake fluid is not avail-
able, then DOT 4 is acceptable.
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
For information on the maintenance procedures for your vehicle, please refer to
“Maintenance Procedures” in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” in your Owner’s Manual or
applicable supplement on the DVD for further details.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE — GASOLINE ENGINE
Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil
change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for
scheduled maintenance.
Based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will
illuminate. This means that service is required for your vehicle. Operating conditions
such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures,
and E85 fuel usage will influence when the “Oil Change Required” message is
displayed. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to
illuminate as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset. Have your vehicle
serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).
Your authorized dealer will reset the oil change indicator message after completing
the scheduled oil change.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles
(16,000 km), twelve months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first.
The 350 hours of engine run or idle time is generally only a concern for fleet
customers.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE — DIESEL ENGINE
Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil

than your authorized dealer, the message can be reset by referring to the steps
described under “Instrument Cluster Warning Lights” in “What To Do In Emergen-
cies” in this guide or “Driver Information Display (DID)” in “Understanding Your
Instrument Panel” in your Owners Manual on the DVD for further information.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles
(16,000 km) or twelve months, whichever comes first.
Engine Oil Filter Replacement
Residual oil in the housing may spill from the housing when the new filter is installed
if the residual oil is not either removed from the housing or enough time has not
elapsed to allow the oil to drain back into the engine. When servicing the oil filter on
this engine, carefully remove the filter and use a suction gun to remove any residual
oil left in the housing or wait about 30 minutes for the oil to drain back into the
engine.
Once A Month Or Before A Long Trip:
• Check engine oil level
• Check windshield washer fluid level
• Check the tire inflation pressures and look for unusual wear or damage
• Check the fluid levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and fill asneeded
• Check function of all interior and exterior lights

Power Distribution Center
The Power Distribution Center is located in the engine compartment near the battery.
This center contains cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays, and circuit breakers. A
description of each fuse and component may be stamped on the inside cover,
otherwise the cavity number of each fuse is stamped on the inside cover that
corresponds to the following chart.
