Power Disc Brakes
Disc brakes do not require adjustment; however, several
hard stops during the break-in period are recommended
to seat the linings and wear off any foreign material.
Brake Master Cylinder
The fluid level in the master cylinders should be checked
whenever the vehicle is serviced. If necessary, add fluid
to bring level to the full level mark on the side of the
reservoir of the brake master cylinder. With disc brakes,
fluid level can be expected to fall as the brake pads wear.
If the brake fluid level is abnormally low, check system
for leaks.
Refer to “Fluids, Lubricants, and Genuine Parts” in this
section for the correct fluid type.

Selection of Lubricant
Use only manufacturer’s recommended fluid. Refer to
“Fluids, Lubricants, and Genuine Parts” in this section
for the correct fluid type.
Maintenance After Off-Road Driving
After extended operation in mud, sand or water, or
similar dirty conditions, have your brake drums, brake
linings, and axle joints inspected and cleaned as soon as
possible. This will prevent any abrasive material from
causing excessive wear or unpredictable braking action.
Following off-road usage, completely inspect the under-
body of your vehicle. Check the tires, body structure,
steering, suspension and exhaust system for damage.
Check the threaded fasteners for looseness, particularly
on the chassis, drivetrain components, steering and sus-
pension. Retighten, if required, to torque values specified
in the Service Manual. Also check for accumulations of
vegetation or brush that could become a fire hazard, orconceal damage to fuel lines, brake hoses, axle pinion
seals, and propeller shafts. Check the air conditioning
drain tube on the lower dash wall in the engine compart-
ment for mud or debris, and clean as required. A plugged
tube will adversely affect air conditioning performance.

Rear Tail, Stop, Turn Signal, and Backup Lamp
1. Remove the two inboard screws attaching the tail light
housing to the body.DO NOT REMOVE THE OUTER
SCREWS AT ANY TIME.
2. Separate the housing from the body by pushing the
lamp inboard while pulling the lamp away from the
body. 3. Rotate the appropriate socket 1/4 turn counterclock-
wise, then remove it from the housing.
4. Pull the bulb straight from the socket to replace.
Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL)
The stop lamp is mounted on a bracket that extends
upward from the tailgate behind the spare tire. If service
is needed, obtain the LED/Cover Assembly from your
local authorized dealer.
1. Remove the spare tire.
2. Remove the four screws holding the lens/cover in
place on the spare tire carrier.
3. Disconnect the wire harness from the back of the LED
cover.

This is why you should always talk to an authorized
dealer’s service manager first. Most matters can be re-
solved with this process.
•If for some reason you are still not satisfied, talk to the
general manager or owner of the authorized dealer-
ship. They want to know if you need assistance.
•If an authorized dealership is unable to resolve the
concern, you may contact the manufacturer’s customer
center.
Any communication to the manufacturer’s customer cen-
ter should include the following information:
•Owner’s name and address
•Owner’s telephone number (home and office)
•Authorized dealership name
•Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
