Features of your vehicle
Auto control (if equipped)
The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield glass senses the
amount of rainfall and controls the wiping
cycle for the proper interval. The more it
rains, the faster the wiper operates.
When the rain stops, the wiper stops.
To vary the speed setting, turn the speed control knob (1).
If the wiper switch is set in AUTO mode
when the ignition switch is ON, the wiper
will operate once to perform a self-check
of the system. Set the wiper to OFF posi-
tion when the wiper is not in use.

Rain sensor
CAUTION
When the ignition switch is ON andthe windshield wiper switch is
placed in the AUTO mode, use cau-tion in the following situations toavoid any injury to the hands or other parts of the body:
Do not touch the upper end of the windshield glass facing the rainsensor.
Do not wipe the upper end of the windshield glass with a damp or
wet cloth.
Do not put pressure on the wind- shield glass.
CAUTION
When washing the vehicle, set thewiper switch in the OFF position to
stop the auto wiper operation.
The wiper may operate and be dam-aged if the switch is set in the AUTOmode while washing the vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor coverlocated on the upper end of the pas- senger side windshield glass.Damage to system parts couldoccur and may not be covered by
your vehicle warranty.
When starting the vehicle in winter,set the wiper switch in the OFF position. Otherwise, wipers mayoperate and ice may damage the
windshield wiper blades. Alwaysremove all snow and ice and defrost the windshield properly prior tooperating the windshield wipers.

Automatic heating and air condi- tioning The automatic climate control system is
controlled by simply setting the desired
temperature.
The Full Automatic Temperature Control
(FATC) system automatically controls the
heating and cooling system as follows;
1. Push the AUTO button. The modes,fan speeds, air intake and air-condi- tioning will be controlled automatically
by temperature setting. 2. Set the temperature control knob to
set the desired temperature.
If the temperature is set to the lowestsetting (LO), the air conditioning sys-
tem will operate continuously.
3. To turn the automatic operation off, select any button or switch of the fol-
lowing:





The selected function will be controlled manually while other functions operate
automatically.
For your convenience and to improve the
effectiveness of the climate control, use
the AUTO button and set the temperatureto 23°C (73°F).✽✽ NOTICE
Never place anything over the sensor
located on the instrument panel to
ensure better control of the heating and
cooling system.

Auto defogging system (if equipped)
Auto defogging reduces the probability of
fogging up the inside of the windshield byautomatically sensing the moisture ofinside the windshield. This indicator illuminates
when the auto defoggingsystem senses the moistureof inside the windshield and
operates.
If more moisture is in the vehicle, higher
steps operate as follow. For example if
auto defogging does not defog inside thewindshield at step 1 Outside air position,
it tries to defog again at step 2 Blowing
air toward the windshield.
Step 1 : Outside air positionStep 2 :Blowing air toward the windshield

Step 4 : Operating the air conditioning

✽✽ NOTICE
If the A/C off or recirculated air position
is manually selected while the auto
defogging system is on, the auto defog-
ging indicator will blink 3 times to give
notice that manual operation is can-
celed.

Maintenance
Replace the filter according to the
Maintenance Schedule.
If the vehicle is operated in extremelydusty or sandy areas, replace the element more often than the usual
recommended intervals. (Refer to“Maintenance under severe usage condi-tions” in this section.)
CAUTION
Do not drive with the air cleaner removed; this will result in exces-
sive engine wear.
When removing the air cleaner fil- ter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake, or
damage may result.
Use a KIA genuine part. Use of non-genuine parts could damagethe air flow sensor.
