Inside rearview mirror
Adjust the rearview mirror so that the
center view through the rear window
is seen. Make this adjustment before
you start driving.
Do not place objects in the rear seat
which would interfere with your vision
through the rear window.
Day/night rearview mirror
(if equipped)
Make this adjustment before you
start driving and while the day/night
lever is in the day position.
Pull the day/night lever toward you to
reduce the glare from the headlights
of the vehicles behind you during
night driving.
Remember that you lose somerearview clarity in the night position. Electric chromic mirror (ECM)
(if equipped)
The electric rearview mirror automat-
ically controls the glare from the
headlights of the car behind you in
nighttime or low light driving condi-
tions. The sensor mounted in the mir-
ror senses the light level around the
vehicle, and automatically controls
the headlight glare from vehicles
behind you.
When the engine is running, the glare
is automatically controlled by the sen-
sor mounted in the rearview mirror.
Whenever the shift lever is shifted
into reverse (R), the mirror will auto-
matically go to the brightest setting in
order to improve the drivers view
behind the vehicle.

Outside rearview mirror
Be sure to adjust mirror angles
before driving.
Your vehicle is equipped with both
left-hand and right-hand outside
rearview mirrors. The mirrors can be
adjusted remotely with the remote
switch (if equipped). The mirror heads
can be folded to prevent damage dur-
ing an automatic car wash or when
passing through a narrow street.
The right outside rearview mirror is
convex. Objects seen in the mirror
are closer than they appear.
Use your interior rearview mirror or
direct observation to determine the
actual distance of following vehicles
when changing lanes.
Remote control
Electric type
The electric remote control mirror
switch allows you to adjust the posi-
tion of the left and right outside
rearview mirrors. To adjust the posi-
tion of either mirror the ignition switch
should be in the ACC or ON position.
Move the lever (1) to R or L to select
the right side mirror or the left side
mirror, then press a corresponding
point on the mirror adjustment con-
trol to position the selected mirror up,
down, left or right.
CAUTION - Rearview
mirror
Do not scrape ice off the mirrorface; this may damage the sur-face of the glass. If ice shouldrestrict movement of the mirror,do not force the mirror foradjustment. To remove ice, usea deicer spray, or a sponge orsoft cloth with very warm water.
WARNING - Mirror
adjustment
Do not adjust or fold the outside
rearview mirrors while the vehi-
cle is moving. This could result
in loss of control.OTF040044N

Do not attempt to adjust the outside rearview mirror byhand. Doing so may damagethe parts.
CAUTION - Electric type
outside rearview mirror
The electric type outside rearview mirror operates eventhough the ignition switch is inthe OFF position. However, toprevent unnecessary batterydischarge, do not adjust themirrors longer than necessarywhile the engine is not running.
In case it is an electric type out-side rearview mirror, don’t fold itby hand. It could cause motorfailure.

Instrument Cluster Control
Adjusting Instrument Cluster
Illumination
The instrument panel illumination
intensity can be adjusted by pressing
the control switch with the headlight
switch in any position when the igni-
tion switch is in the ON position.
The illumination intensity is shown on
the instrument cluster LCD display. If you hold the illumination control
button (" " or " "), the bright-
ness will be changed continuously.
If the brightness reaches to the maximum or minimum level, an
alarm will sound.
LCD Display Control
The LCD display modes can be
changed by using the control buttons
on the steering wheel.
(1) : MODE button for changing
modes
(2) OK : SELECT/RESET button for setting or resetting the

Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the for-
ward speed of the vehicle.
The speedometer is calibrated in
miles per hour and/or kilometers per
hour.
Engine coolant temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature
of the engine coolant when the igni-
tion switch is ON.
Do not continue driving with an over-
heated engine. If your vehicle over-
heats, refer to "If the engine over-
heats" in chapter 6.
If the gauge pointer moves beyond
the normal range area toward the "H"
position, it indicates overheating that
may damage the engine.
Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approx-
imate amount of fuel remaining in the
fuel tank. The fuel tank capacity is
given in chapter 8. The fuel gauge is
supplemented by a low fuel warning
light, which will illuminate when the
fuel tank is nearly empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge
pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier
than usual due to the movement of
fuel in the tank.OTFH044053N

State of charge (SOC)
The state of charge (SOC) gauge
indicates the hybrid battery's charge
level. If the SOC is near L level, the
vehicle automatically operates the
engine to charge the battery.
However, if the service indicator and
MIL(Malfunction indicator lamp) turn
on when the State of Charge(SOC)
is near L(Low), have your vehicle
checked by an authorized Kia dealer
immediately.
WARNING- Fuel gauge
Stop and obtain additional fuel
as soon as possible after the
warning light comes on or when
the gauge indicator comes
close to the E level. Running out
of fuel can expose vehicle occu-
pants to danger.
CAUTION- Low fuel
Avoid driving with extremely low fuel level. Running out offuel could cause the engine tomisfire, damaging the catalyticconverter.
CAUTION
Never try to start the vehicle ifthe fuel tank is empty. It isimpossible to charge the highvoltage battery of hybrid systemwhile cranking an engine with-out fuel. If you try to start thevehicle when the fuel tank isempty, the high voltage batterywill be discharged and could bedamaged.

ECO GUIDE gauge
This is a gauge to let drivers know
efficient the current driving condi-
tions are. The fuel efficiency is high
in the green zone but is low in the red
zone.
- Green zone : Good driving condi-tion
- White zone : Average driving con- dition
- Red zone : Poor driving condition
Odometer
The odometer indicates the total dis-
tance the vehicle has been driven.
You will also find the odometer useful
to determine when periodic mainte-
nance should be performed.
Outside temperature display
This display indicates the current
outside air temperatures by 1°F
(1°C).
- Temperature range : -40 °F ~ 140 °F (-40°C ~ 60°C)
