Jump starting procedure
1. Make sure the booster battery is12-volt and that its negative termi‐ nal is grounded.
2. If the booster battery is in another vehicle, do not allow the vehicles
come in contact.
3. Turn off all unnecessary electrical loads.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact sequence shown in the illus‐
tration. First connect one end of a
jumper cable to the positive termi‐
nal of the discharged battery (1),
then connect the other end to the
positive terminal on the booster
battery (2).
Proceed to connect one end of the other jumper cable to the negative
terminal of the booster battery (3),
then the other end to a solid, sta‐
tionary, metallic point (for example,
the engine lifting bracket) away
from the battery (4). Do not con‐
nect it to or near any part that
moves when the engine is cranked.
Do not allow the jumper cables to
contact anything except the correct
battery terminals or the correct
ground. Do not lean over the bat‐ tery when making connections.CAUTION
nBattery cables
Do not connect the jumper cablefrom the negative terminal of thebooster battery to the negative ter‐minal of the discharged battery. Thiscan cause the discharged battery tooverheat and crack, releasing bat‐tery acid.
5. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and let it run
at 2,000 rpm, then start the engine
of the vehicle with the discharged
battery.
If the cause of your battery discharging is not apparent, we recommend that
the system be checked by an author‐
ized Kia dealer.
Push-starting
Your manual transaxle-equipped vehi‐
cle should not be push-started because it might damage the emission control
system.
Vehicles equipped with automatic
transaxle cannot be push-started.

Carbon monoxide poisoning and suf‐focation is possible if the engine isleft running in a poorly ventilated orunventilated location (such as insidea building).
Distributing the sealant
11. Immediately drive approximately7~10 km (4~6 miles or, about 10
min) to evenly distribute the seal‐
ant in the tire.
CAUTION
Do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h(50 mph). If possible, do not fall be‐low a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph).While driving, if you experience anyunusual vibration, ride disturbanceor noise, reduce your speed anddrive with caution until you cansafely pull off of the side of theroad. Call for road side service ortowing.

When you use the Tire Mobility Kit,the tire pressure sensors and wheelmay be stained by sealant. There‐fore, remove the tire pressure sen‐sors and wheel stained by sealantand we recommend to have it in‐spected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Checking the tire inflation

1. After driving approximately 7~10 km (4~6 miles, or about 10
minutes), stop at a suitable loca‐
tion. 2. Connect connection hose (10) of
the compressor directly to the tire
valve.
3. Connect between compressor and the vehicle battery using the cable
and connectors.
4. Adjust the tire inflation pressure to 200 kPa (29 psi). With the ignition
switched on, proceed as follows. -
To increase the inflation pres‐sure: Switch on the compressor,
position I. To check the current
inflation pressure setting, briefly switch off the compressor.
WARNING
Do not let the compressor run formore than 10 minutes, otherwisethe device will overheat and may bedamaged.
-To reduce the inflation pressure:
Press the button (9) on the com‐
pressor.

CAUTION
If the inflation pressure is not main‐tained, drive the vehicle a secondtime, refer to Distributing the seal‐ant. Then repeat steps 1 to 4.Use of the TMK may be ineffectualfor tire damage larger than approxi‐mately 4 mm (0.16 in).We recommend that you contact anauthorized Kia dealer if the tire can‐not be made roadworthy with theTire Mobility Kit.
WARNING
The tire inflation pressure must beat least 200 kPa (29 psi). If it is not,do not continue driving.Call for road side service or towing.
Notes on the safe use of the
Tire Mobility Kit
• Park your car at the side of the roadso that you can work with the TMK
away from moving traffic. Place your warning triangle in a prominent place
to make passing vehicles aware of
your location. • To be sure your vehicle will not move,
even when you're on fairly level
ground, always set your parking brake.
• Only use the TMK for sealing/inflation passenger car tires. Do not use on
motorcycles, bicycles or any other
type of tires.
• Do not remove any foreign objects such as nails or screws -that have
penetrated the tire.
• Before using the TMK, read the pre‐ cautionary advice printed on the seal‐ ant bottle!
• Provided the car is outdoors, leave the engine running. Otherwise oper‐
ating the compressor may eventually
drain the car battery.
• Never leave the TMK unattended while it is being used.
• Do not leave the compressor running for more than 10 min. at a time or it
may overheat.
• Do not use the TMK if the ambient temperature is below -30°C (-22°F).
• When the tire and wheel are dam‐ aged, do not use Tire Mobility Kit foryour safety.

•Working under the hood with theengine running is dangerous. It be‐comes even more dangerous whenyou wear jewelry or loose clothing.These can become entangled inmoving parts and result in injury.Therefore, if you must run the en‐gine while working under the hood,make certain that you remove alljewelry (especially rings, bracelets,watches, and necklaces) and allneckties, scarves, and similar looseclothing before getting near theengine or cooling fans.
CAUTION
•Do not put heavy objects or applyexcessive force on top of the en‐gine cover (if equipped) or fuel re‐lated parts.
•When you inspect the fuel system(fuel lines and fuel injection devi‐ces), we recommend that you con‐tact an authorized kia dealer.

•Do not drive long time with the en‐gine cover (if equipped) removed.
•When checking the engine room,do not go near fire.Fuel, washer fluid, etc. are flam‐mable oils that may cause fire.
•Before touching the battery, igni‐tion cables and electrical wiring,you should disconnect the battery"-" terminal. You may get an elec‐tric shock from the electric cur‐rent.
•When you remove the interior trimcover with a flat bed (-) driver, becareful not to damage the cover.
•Be careful when you replace andclean bulbs to avoid burns or elec‐trical shock.

• Check for worn tires and loose wheellug nuts.
At least once a year:
• Clean the body and door drain holes.
• Lubricate the door hinges and checks,and hood hinges.
• Lubricate the door and hood locks and latches.
• Lubricate the door rubber weather‐ strips.
• Check the air conditioning system.
• Inspect and lubricate the automatic transaxle linkage and controls.
• Clean the battery and terminals.

Use extreme caution when workingnear the blades of the cooling fan sothat you are not injured by a rotat‐ing fan blades. As the engine coolanttemperature decreases, the electricmotor will automatically shut off.This is a normal condition.If your vehicle is equipped with GDI,the electric motor (cooling fan) mayoperate until you disconnect thenegative battery cable.
Engine coolant

Check the condition and connections of
all cooling system hoses and heater ho‐ ses. Replace any swollen or deteriora‐
ted hoses.
The coolant level should be filled be‐
tween F (Full) and L (Low) marks on the side of the coolant reservoir when the
engine is cool.
If the coolant level is low, add enough
specified coolant to provide protection against freezing and corrosion. Bring
the level to F (Full), but do not overfill.
If frequent additions are required, we
recommend that the system be inspec‐
ted by an authorized Kia dealer.
Inverter coolant
Check the condition and connections of
all cooling system hoses. Replace any swollen or deteriorated hoses.
The coolant level should be filled be‐
tween MAX and MIN marks on the side
of the coolant reservoir when the en‐ gine is cool.
If the coolant level is low, add enough
specified coolant to provide protection
against freezing and corrosion. Bring the level to MAX, but do not overfill. If
frequent additions are required, we rec‐
ommend that the system be inspected
by an authorized Kia dealer.

BATTERY
For best battery service
• Keep the battery securely mounted.
• Keep the battery top clean and dry.
• Keep the terminals and connectionsclean, tight, and coated with petrole‐
um jelly or terminal grease.
• Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with a solution
of water and baking soda.
• If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, disconnect the
battery cables.
NOTICE
Basically equipped battery is main‐
tenance free type. If your vehicle is
equipped with the battery marked
with LOWER and UPPER on the side,
you can check the electrolyte level.
The electrolyte level should be be‐
tween LOWER and UPPER. If the
electrolyte level is low, it needs to
add distilled (demineralized) water
(Never add sulfuric acid or other
electrolyte). When refill, be careful
not to splash the battery and adja‐
cent components. And do not overfill
the battery cells. It can cause corro‐
sion on other parts. After then en‐
sure that tighten the cell caps. We
recommend that you contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer.
