The refrigerant system should onlybe serviced by trained and certified
technicians to insure proper and
safe operation.
The refrigerant system should be serviced in a well-ventilated place.
The air conditioning evaporator (cooling coil) shall never be repaired
or replaced with one removed from
a used or salvaged vehicle and new
replacement MAC evaporators shall
be certified (and labeled) as meet-
ing SAE Standard J2842. Air conditioning system operation tips
If the vehicle has been parked in
direct sunlight during hot weather,
open the windows for a short time
to let the hot air inside the vehicle
escape.
To help reduce moisture inside of the windows on rainy or humid
days, decrease the humidity inside
the vehicle by operating the air
conditioning system.
During air conditioning system operation, you may occasionally
notice a slight change in engine
speed as the air conditioning com-
pressor cycles. This is a normal
system operation characteristic.
Use the air conditioning system every month only for a few minutes
to ensure maximum system per-
formance.CAUTION- Excessive AC
When using the air condition- ing system, monitor the tem-perature gauge closely whiledriving up hills or in heavy traf-fic when outside temperaturesare high. Air conditioning sys-tem operation may causeengine overheating. Continueto use the blower fan but turnthe air conditioning system offif the temperature gauge indi-cates engine overheating.
When opening the windows in humid weather air condition-ing may create water dropletsinside the vehicle. Sinceexcessive water droplets maycause damage to electricalequipment, air conditioningshould only be used with thewindows closed.

Manual heating and air condi-
tioning
The heating and cooling system can
be controlled manually by pressing
buttons or turning knob(s) other than
the AUTO button. In this case, the
system works sequentially according
to the order of buttons or knob(s)
selected.
1. Start the engine.
2. Set the mode to the desired posi-
tion.
For improving the effectiveness of
heating and cooling;- Heating:
- Cooling: 3. Set the temperature control to the
desired position.
4. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
5. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
6. If air conditioning is desired, turn the air conditioning system on.
Press the AUTO button in order to
convert to full automatic control of
the system.

Operation Tips
To keep dust or unpleasant fumesfrom entering the vehicle through
the ventilation system, temporarily
set the air intake control to the
recirculated air position. Be sure to
return the control to the fresh air
position when the irritation has
passed to keep fresh air in the
vehicle. This will help keep the driv-
er alert and comfortable.
Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles just
ahead of the windshield. Care
should be taken that these are not
blocked by leaves, snow, ice or
other obstructions.
To prevent interior fog on the wind- shield, set the air intake control to
the fresh air position and fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the
air conditioning system, and adjust
the temperature control to desired
temperature.Air conditioning (if equipped)
Air Conditioning System in this vehi-
cle is filled with R-134a refrigerant.
1. Start the engine. Press the air con- ditioning button.
2. Set the mode to the position.
3. Set the air intake control to the out- side air or recirculated air position.
4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control to maintain
maximum comfort.
When maximum cooling is desired, set the temperature control to the
extreme left position, set the mode
control to the MAX A/C position,
then set the fan speed control to
the highest speed.CAUTION- Excessive A/C
When using the air conditioningsystem, monitor the enginecoolant closely while driving uphills or in heavy traffic when out-side temperatures are high. Airconditioning system operationmay cause engine overheatingand potential engine damage.Continue to use the blower fanbut turn the air conditioning sys-tem off if the engine coolanttemperature gauge indicatesengine overheating.

Air conditioning system operation tips

During air conditioning system operation, you may occasionally
notice a slight change in engine
speed as the air conditioning com-
pressor cycles. This is a normal
system operation characteristic.
Use the air conditioning system every month only for a few minutes
to ensure maximum system per-
formance. When using the air conditioning
system, you may notice clear water
dripping (or even puddling) on the
ground under the passenger side
of the vehicle. This is a normal sys-
tem operation characteristic.
Operating the air conditioning sys- tem in the recirculated air position
provides maximum cooling, how-
ever, continual operation in this
mode may cause the air inside the
vehicle to become stale.
During cooling operation, you may occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and
humid air intake. This is a normal
system operation characteristic.Climate control air filter
(if equipped)
The climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the
vehicle from the outside through the
heating and air conditioning system. If
dust or other pollutants accumulate in
the filter over a period of time, the air
flow from the air vents may decrease,
resulting in moisture accumulation on
the inside of the windshield even
when the outside (fresh) air position is
selected. If this happens, have the cli-
mate control air filter replaced by an
authorized Kia dealer.

The power outlet is designed to pro-
vide power for mobile telephones or
other devices designed to operate
with vehicle electrical systems. The
devices should draw less than 10
amps with the engine running.
Use the power outlet only when theengine is running and remove the
accessory plug after use. Using the
accessory plug for prolonged peri-
ods of time with the engine off could
cause the battery to discharge.
Only use 12V electric accessories which are less than 10A in electric
capacity.
Adjust the air-conditioner or heater to the lowest operating level when
using the power outlet.
Close the cover when not in use.
Some electronic devices can cause electronic interference when
plugged into a vehicle’s power out-
let. These devices may cause
excessive audio static and malfunc-
tions in other electronic systems or

Do not put a finger or a foreign
element (pen, etc.) into a power
outlet and do not touch with a
wet hand. You may get an elec-

The AC inverter supplies 115V/100W
electric power to operate electric
accessories or equipments.
If you wish to use the AC inverter,
press the AC inverter button while
the engine is running. The light on
the AC inverter button will illuminate.
If you press the AC inverter button
again, the AC inverter will be deacti-
vated and the light on the AC invert-
er button will turn off.

NOTICE
When turning on the AC inverter,
the indicator on the AC inverter but-
ton illuminates late while the system
conducts a self-check.

• Rated voltage : AC 115V
• Maximum electric power : 100W
• In order to avoid an electrical sys-
tem failure, electric shock, etc., be
sure to read owner's manual
before use.
• Be sure to close the cover except the time of use.
To prevent the battery from being
discharged, do not use the AC
inverter while the engine is not run-
ning.
When not using the AC inverter, make sure to turn off the AC invert-
er (the indicator on the button does
not illuminate) and close the AC
inverter cover.
After using an electric accessory or equipment, pull the plug out.
Leaving the accessory or equip-
ment plugged in for a long time
may cause battery discharge.
Do not use an electric accessory or equipment the power consump-
tion of which is greater than 100W
(115V).

electric power range, it may mal-
function in below cases.
- If the device/appliance requireshigh electric power for initial start
up
- If the device/appliance processes precise/very accurate data
- If the device/appliance requires very stable supply of electricityUSB charger (if equipped)
The USB charger is designed to
recharge batteries of small size elec-
trical devices using a USB cable. The
electrical devices can be recharged
when the Engine Start/Stop button is
in ACC/ON/START position. The battery charging state may be
monitored on the electrical device.
Disconnect the USB cable from the
USB port after use.
Some devices are not supported
for fast charging but will be
charged with normal speed.
Use the USB charger when the engine is running to prevent bat-
tery discharge.
Only devices that fits the USB port can be used.
The USB charger can be used only for battery charging purposes.
Battery chargers cannot be charged.

Devices
• Starting the vehicle while a USB
device is connected can damage
the device. Please disconnect USB
devices before starting the vehicle.
• Starting the vehicle or stopping the engine while an external USB
device is connected can result in
failure of the external USB device
to operate.
• Be cautious of static electricity when connecting/disconnecting
external USB devices.
• An encrypted MP3 player is not recognized when connected as an
external device.
• External USB devices may not be recognized, depending on the state
of the external USB device.
• Only products with byte/sectors formatted at 4 KB or lower are
recognized.
• Only USB devices in FAT12/16/32 format are recognized; NTFS and
ExFAT file systems are not recog-
nized.

• Connecting and disconnecting
USB devices rapidly over a short
period of time can cause equip-

• Operation is guaranteed only for standard (Metal Cover Type) USB
Memory drives.
• Operation of HDD, CF, SD and memory stick devices is not guar-

• If you want to use Siri, you have to
connect your iOS device to multi-
media system through Bluetooth

Wireless Technology. (Please
check whether your iOS device
supports Siri and turning Siri On)
• If the iOS version is changed, the functions and response may be dif-
ferent according to the iOS device
and the latest version.
• Siri automatically stops in the fol- lowing events.
1) Outgoing and incoming phone calls.
2) Media (USB, etc.) is connected. (Siri mode is maintained when

3) Rear camera is activated. (option)
4) Vehicle is started or engine is turned off.
5) Screen transition buttons, such as RADIO or MEDIA, are

Starting Siri

(1) Speak: Re-start Siri.
