many items in the storage com-partment that the storage com- partment cover cannot close
securely.

To use the ashtray, open the cover.
To clean or empty the ashtray, pull it out. Cup holder
Cups or small beverage cans may be
placed in the cup holders.
CAUTION
We recommend that you use parts
for replacement from an authorizedKia dealer. The use of plug-in acces-sories (shavers, hand-held vacu-
ums, and coffee pots, etc.) may damage the socket or cause electri-cal failure.
WARNING
 Do not hold the lighter in after it is already heated because it will
overheat.
 If the lighter does not pop out within 30 seconds, remove it to
prevent overheating.
WARNING - Ashtray use
 Do not use the vehicle’s ashtrays as waste receptacles.
 Putting lit cigarettes or matches in an ashtray with other com-
bustible materials may cause a
fire.

Sunvisor
Use the sunvisor to shield direct light
through the front or side windows.
To use a sunvisor, pull it downward.
To use a sunvisor for a side window, pull
it downward, unsnap it from the bracket
(1) and swing it to the side.
To use the vanity mirror, pull down the
visor and open the mirror cover (2).
Turn off the vanity mirror lamp (if
equipped) after use.
✽✽NOTICE
Close the vanity mirror cover securely
and return the sunvisor to its original
position after use.

Always have the switch in the off position when the vanity mirror lamp is not in use. If the sunvisor isclosed without the lamp off, it may
discharge the battery or damagethe sunvisor.
WARNING - Hot liquids
 Do not place uncovered cups with hot liquid in the cup holder
while the vehicle is in motion. If
the hot liquid spills, you burn
yourself. Such a burn to the driv-
er could lead to loss of control of
the vehicle.
 To reduce the risk of personal injury in the event of sudden stop
or collision, do not place uncov-
ered or unsecured bottles, glass-
es, cans, etc., in the cup holder
while the vehicle is in motion.
WARNING
Keep cans or bottles out of direct sun light and do not put them in a
vehicle that is heated up. It may

Power outlet (if equipped)
The power outlet is designed to provide
power for mobile telephones or other
devices designed to operate with vehicle
electrical systems. The devices should draw
less than 10 amps with the engine running. Aux, USB and iPod port (if equipped)
If your vehicle has an aux and/or
USB(universal serial bus) port or iPod
port, you can use an aux port to connect
audio devices and an USB port to plug in
an USB and also an iPod port to plug in
an iPod.

When using a portable audio device
connected to the power outlet, noise may
occur during playback. If this happens,
use the power source of the portableaudio device.

 Ensure that the floor mats are securely attached to the vehicle's
floor mat anchor(s) before driving

 Do not use ANY floor mat that can- not be firmly attached to the vehi-
cle's floor mat anchors.
 Do not stack floor mats on top of one another (e.g. all-weather rubbermat on top of a carpeted floor mat).
Only a single floor mat should be
installed in each position.
IMPORTANT - Your vehicle was
manufactured with driver's side
floor mat anchors that are designed
to securely hold the floor mat in
place. To avoid any interference with
pedal operation, Kia recommends
that the Kia floor mat designed for
use in your vehicle be installed.

Luggage net holder (if equipped)
To keep items from shifting in the cargo
area, you can use the 4 holders locatedin the cargo area (under the floor panel)to attach the luggage net.
If your vehicle is equipped with a luggage
board, set the board to the lower position
before installing the luggage net.
Luggage board
Two (Upper/Lower) modes are provided
to enable you to use the cargo area as
you like.
 Lower mode: Creates maximum cargospace.
 Upper mode: May be used with the rear seatbacks folded.

 Fading – As your car moves away
from the radio station, the signal will
weaken and sound will begin to fade.
When this occurs, we suggest that
you select another stronger station.
 Flutter/Static – Weak FM signal or large obstructions between the trans-
mitter and your radio can disturb the
signal causing static or fluttering nois-
es to occur. Reducing the treble level
may lessen this effect until the distur-
bance clears.  Station Swapping – As a FM signal
weakens, another more powerful sta-tion signal near the same frequency
may begin to play. This is because
your radio is designed to lock onto the
clearest signal. If this occurs, selectanother station with a stronger signal.
 Multi-Path Cancellation - Radio sig- nals being received from several
directions can cause distortion or flut-
tering. This can be caused by a director reflected signal from the same sta-
tion, or by signals from two stations
with close frequencies. If this occurs,select another station until the condi-tion has passed.
Using a cellular phone or a two-way
radio
When a cellular phone is used inside the
vehicle, noise may be produced from the
audio equipment. This does not meanthat something is wrong with the audio
equipment. In such a case, use the cellu-
lar phone at a place as far as possiblefrom the audio equipment.

tem such a cellular phone or a radio set inside the vehicle, a separateexternal antenna must be fitted.
When a cellular phone or a radio setis used with an internal antennaalone, it may interfere with the vehi- cles electrical system and adverse-

RDS (Radio Data System)
Many VHF stations transmit RDS infor-
mation. The tuner evaluates the RDS
telegram and offers the following advan-tages: ‰PS (Program Service name): Display
of station name.
‰ PTY (Program TYpe): Station selec-
tion by program type.
‰ AF (Alternative Frequency):
Automatic re-tuning to best alternative
frequency.
‰ TA (Traffic Announcement): Traffic
announcements.
‰ EON (Enhanced Other Networks):
Automatic fade-in of traffic announce-
ments on other stations.

Care of disc (if equipped)
‰If the temperature inside the car is too
high, open the car window for ventila-
tion before using your car audio.
‰ It is illegal to copy and use MP3/WMA
files without permission. Use CDs that
are created only by lawful means.
‰ Do not apply volatile agents such as
benzene and thinner, normal cleaners
and magnetic sprays made for ana-
logue disc onto CDs.
‰ To prevent the disc surface from get-
ting damaged. Hold and carry CDs bythe edges or the edges of the centre
hole only.
‰ Clean the disc surface with a piece of
clean soft cloth before playback (wipeit from the centre to the outside edge).
‰ Do not damage the disc surface or
attach pieces of sticky tape or paperon it.
‰ Make sure on undesirable matter
other than CDs are inserted into the
CD player.
‰ Do not insert more than one CD at a
time. It is likely to block CD operation.
‰ Keep CDs in their cases after use to
protect them from scratches or dirt. ‰
Depending on the type of CD-R/CD-
RW CDs, certain CDs may not oper-
ate normally according to manufactur-ing companies or making and record-
ing methods. In such circumstances,
if you still continue to use those CDs,
they may cause the malfunction of
your car audio system.
Playing an incompatible Copy
Protected Audio CD
Some copy protected CDs which do not
comply with the international audio CD
standards (Red Book), may not play on
your car audio. Please note that if you try
to play copy protected CDs and the CD
player does not perform correctly the
CDs may be defective, not the CD player.
WARNING
The newly introduced iPod ®
with
new firmware may not be 100%
compatible and may not be sup-
ported by the system.
