 Touch the “Player” soft-key to be-

nected with the system, a pop-up
will appear.
 Search for available devices on your Bluetooth® enabled audio de-
vice. When prompted on the device,

Nav The Uconnect™ Voice
Command system allows
you to control your AM, FM
radio, satellite radio, disc
player, SD Card or USB/iPod. NOTE:
Take care to speak into the Voice
Command system as calmly and
normally as possible. The ability
of the Voice Command system to
recognize user voice commands
may be negatively affected by
rapid speaking or a raised voice
level.
WARNING!
Any voice commanded system
should be used only in safe driving
conditions following local laws. All
attention should be kept on the
roadway ahead. Failure to do so may
result in a collision cau sing serious
injury or death.
When you press the Uconnect™ Voice
Command
button, you will hear
a beep. The beep is your signal to give
a command.
If no command is spoken the system
will say one of two responses:
 I didn't understand
 I didn't get that, etc., If a command is not spoken a second
time, the system will respond with an
error and give some direction as what
can be said based on the context you
are in. After three consecutive failures
of a spoken command the VR session
with end.
Pressing the Uconnect™ Voice Com-
mand
button while the system
is speaking is known as “barging in.”
The system will be interrupted, and
after the beep, you can say a com-
mand. This will become helpful once
you start to learn the options.
NOTE:
At any time, you can say the words
“Cancel” or “Help”.
These commands are universal and
can be used from any menu. All other
commands can be used depending
upon the active application.
When using this system, you should
speak clearly and at a normal speak-
ing volume.
The system will best recognize your
speech if the windows are closed, and
the heater/air conditioning fan is set
to low.

At any point, if the system does not
recognize one of your commands, you
will be prompted to repeat it.
To hear available commands, press
the Uconnect™ Voice Command
button and say “Help”. You will
hear available commands for the
screen displayed.
Natural Speech
Natural speech allows the user to
speak commands in phrases or com-
plete sentences. The system filters out
certain non-word utterances and
sounds such as “ah” and “eh”. The
system handles fill-in words such as “I
would like to”.
The system handles multiple inputs in
the same phrase or sentence such as
“make a phone call” and “to Kelly
Smith”. For multiple inputs in the
same phrase or sentence, the system
identifies the topic or context and pro-
vides the associated follow-up prompt
such as “Who do you want to call?” in the case where a phone call was re-
quested but the specific name was not
recognized.
The system utilizes continuous dialog;
when the system requires more infor-
mation from the user it will ask a
question to which the user can re-
spond without pressing the
Uconnect™ Voice Command
button.
Uconnect™ Voice
Commands
The Uconnect™ Voice Command sys-
tem understands two types of com-
mands. Universal commands are
available at all times. Local com-
mands are available if the supported
radio mode is active.
Start a dialogue by pressing the
Uconnect™ Voice Commandbutton.
Changing the Volume
1. Start a dialogue by pressing the
Voice Command
button.2. Say a command (e.g., “Help”).
3. Use the ON/OFF VOLUME rotary
knob to adjust the volume to a com-
fortable level while the Voice Com-
mand system is speaking. Please note
the volume setting for Voice Com-
mand is different than the audio sys-
tem.
Starting Voice Recognition (VR)
Session in Radio/Player Modes
In this mode, you can say the follow-
ing commands:

Disc
To switch to the disc mode, say
“Change source to Disc”. This com-
mand can be given in any mode or
screen:

WARNING!
The head restraints for all occupants
must be properly adjusted prior to
operating the vehicle or occupying a
seat. Head restraints should never be
adjusted while the vehicle is in mo-
tion. Driving a vehicle with the head
restraints improperly adjusted or re-
moved could cause serious injury or
death in the event of a collision.
Active Head Restraints — Front
Seats
The front driver and passenger seats
are equipped with Active Head Re-
straints (AIR). In the event of a rear
impact the AHRs will automatically
extend forward minimizing the gap
between the back of the occupants
head and the AIR.
The AHRs will automatically return
to their normal position following a
rear impact. If the AHRs do not return
to their normal position see your au-
thorized deal immediately.
To raise the head restraint, pull up-
ward on the head restraint. To lower
the head restraint, press the push but- ton, located at the base of the head
restraint, and push downward on the
head restraint.
NOTE:
The head restraints should only be
removed by qualified technicians,
for service purposes only. If either
of the head restraints require re-
moval, see your authorized dealer.
WARNING!
Do not place items over the top of the
Active Head Restraint, such as
coats, seat covers or portable DVD
players. These items may interfere
with the operation of the Active
Head Restraint in the event of a col-
lision and could result in serious in-
jury or death.
Rear Head Restraints
The center head restraint has two posi-
tions, up or down. When the center seat
is being occupied the head restraint
should be in the raised position. When
there are no occupants in the center seat
the head restraint can be lowered for
maximum visibility for the driver.To raise the head restraint, pull up-
ward on the head restraint. To lower
the head restraint, press the push but-
ton, located at the base of the head
restraint, and push downward on the
head restraint.
NOTE:
The outboard head restraints are
not adjustable. Refer to “Occupant
Restraints” in “Things To Know
Before Starting Your Vehicle” for
tether routing.

bin located in the armrest. Lift up-
ward on the latch to open the storage
compartment.
CARGO AREA — VEHICLES
EQUIPPED WITH 60/40
SPLIT-FOLDING REAR
SEAT
The 60/40 split-folding rear seat pro-
vides cargo-carrying versatility. The
seatbacks fold down easily by pulling
nylon tabs between the seatbacks and
the bolsters. When the seats are folded
down, they provide a continuous,
nearly-flat extension of the load floor.When the seatback is folded to the
upright position, make sure it is
latched by strongly pulling on the top
of the seatback above the seat strap.
WARNING!
 Be certain that the seatback is se-
curely locked into position. If the
seatback is not securely locked
into position, the seat will not pro-
vide the proper stability for child
seats and/or passengers. An im-
properly latched seat could cause
serious injury.
 The cargo area in the rear of the
vehicle (with the rear seatbacks in
the locked-up or folded down po-
sition) should not be used as a
play area by children when the
vehicle is in motion. They could
be seriously injured in a collision.
Children should be seated and us-
ing the proper restraint system.

Surround (DSS). The Video Surround
Mode will only be available for video
media sources (DVDs, Video CDs, or
other video media supported by the
radio). Some audio will sound better
in DSS modes, others in Stereo mode.
When in “Audio Surround” mode,
balance is set automatically. Fader
control is available in surround mode
but should be set to the center position
for optimal surround performance.
STEERING WHEEL
AUDIO CONTROLS
The remote sound system controls are
located on the surface of the steering
wheel at the three and nineo'clock
positions. The
right-hand control is a rocker-
type switch with a pushbutton in the
center and controls the volume and
mode of the sound system. Pressing
the top of the rocker switch will in-
crease the volume, and pressing the
bottom of the rocker switch will de-
crease the volume.
Pressing the center button will make
the radio switch between the various
modes available (MW/LW/CD, etc.).
The left-hand control is a rocker-type
switch with a pushbutton in the cen-
ter. The function of the left-hand con-
trol is different depending on which
mode you are in.
The following describes the left-hand
control operation in each mode.
Radio Operation
Pressing the top of the switch will
“Seek” up for the next listenable sta-
tion and pressing the bottom of the
switch will “Seek” down for the next
listenable station.
The button located in the center of the
left-hand control will tune to the next preset station that you have pro-
grammed in the radio preset pushbut-
ton.
CD Player
Pressing the top of the switch once
will go to the next track on the CD.
Pressing the bottom of the switch once
will go to the beginning of the current
track, or to the beginning of the pre-
vious track if it is within one second
after the current track begins to play.
If you press the switch up or down
twice, it plays the second track; three
times, it will play the third, etc.
The center button on the left side
rocker switch has no function for a
single-disc CD player. However, when
a multiple-disc CD player is equipped
on the vehicle, the center button will
select the next available CD in the
player.
CD/DVD DISC
MAINTENANCE
To keep a CD/DVD in good condition,
take the following precautions:
1. Handle the disc by its edge; avoid

2. If the disc is stained, clean the sur-
face with a soft cloth, wiping from
center to edge.
3. Do not apply paper or tape to the
disc; avoid scratching the disc.
4. Do not use solvents such as ben-
zene, thinner, cleaners, or anti-static
sprays.
5. Store the disc in its case after play-
ing.
6. Do not expose the disc to direct
sunlight.
7. Do not store the disc where tem-
peratures may become too high.
NOTE:
If you experience difficulty in
playing a particular disc, it may be
damaged (i.e., scratched, reflective
coating removed, a hair, moisture
or dew on the disc) oversized, or
have protection encoding. Try a
known good disc before consider-
ing disc player service.RADIO OPERATION AND
MOBILE PHONES
Under certain conditions, the mobile
phone being on in your vehicle can
cause erratic or noisy performance
from your radio. This condition may
be lessened or eliminated by relocat-
ing the mobile phone antenna. This
condition is not harmful to the radio.
If your radio performance does not
satisfactorily “clear” by the reposi-
tioning of the antenna, it is recom-
mended that the radio volume be
turned down or off during mobile
phone operation.
CLIMATE CONTROLS
The air conditioning and heating sys-
tem is designed to make you comfort-
able in all types of weather. This sys-
tem can be operated through either
the Automatic Climate Controls on
the instrument panel or through the
Uconnect Touch™ system display.
When the Uconnect Touch™ system
is in different modes (Radio, Player,
Settings, More, etc.) the driver and
passenger temperature settings will be
