REAR WINDOW
FEATURES
REAR WINDOW
DEFROSTER
The rear window defroster
button is located on the cli-
mate control. Press this button to turn
on the rear window defroster and the
heated outside mirrors (for versions/
markets, where provided). An indica-
tor in the button will illuminate when
the rear window defroster is on. The
rear window defroster automatically
turns off after approximately 10 min-
utes. For an additional five minutes of
operation, press the button a second
time.
CAUTION!
Failure to follow these cautions can
cause damage to the heating ele-
ments:
Use care when washing the inside of the rear window. Do not use
abrasive window cleaners on the
interior surface of the window.
Use a soft cloth and a mild wash-
ing solution, wiping parallel to
the heating elements. Labels can
be peeled off after soaking with
warm water.
Do not use scrapers, sharp instru- ments, or abrasive window clean-
ers on the interior surface of the
window.
Keep all objects a safe distance from the window.
POWER SUNSHADE (for
versions/markets, where
provided)
Your vehicle may be equipped with a
power sunshade that will reduce the
amount of sunlight that will shine
through the rear windshield.

The power sunshade can be operated
using the Uconnect® System.
Press the “Controls” soft-key and
then press the “Sunshade” soft-key to
raise the power sunscreen. Press the
“Sunshade” soft-key a second time to
lower the sunshade.
If the sunshade is in the raised posi-
tion and the vehicle is placed in RE-
VERSE, the sunshade will automati-
cally fully lower. When the
transmission is shifted out of RE-
VERSE the sunshade will automati-
cally return to the fully raised position
after approximately five seconds.
NOTE: The rear sunshade control
switch can be locked out with the
rear passenger window controls
from the driver switch window
lockout switch.The power sunshade can also be oper-
ated by passengers in the rear seats.
The power sunshade switch is located
on the back of the center console be-
tween the heated seat switches. Press
the switch once to raise the sunshade.
Press the switch a second time to
lower the sunshade.
LOAD LEVELING
SYSTEM
The automatic load leveling system
will provide a level-riding vehicle un-
der most passenger and cargo loading
conditions.
A hydraulic pump contained within
the shock absorbers raises the rear of
the vehicle to the correct height. It
takes approximately 1.6 km of driv-
ing for the leveling to complete de-
pending on road surface conditions.
If the leveled vehicle is not moved for
approximately 15 hours, the leveling
system will bleed itself down. The ve-
hicle must be driven to reset the
system.

handle more than once will only
result in the driver’s door opening.
If driver door first is selected, once
the driver door is opened, the inte-
rior door lock/unlock switch can
be used to unlock all doors (or use
RKE transmitter).
Passive Entry
This feature allows you to lock and
unlock the vehicle’s door(s) without
having to press the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter lock or un-
lock buttons. To make your selection,
touch the Passive Entry soft-key, until
a check-mark appears next to setting,
showing that setting has been selected.
Touch the back arrow soft-key to re-
turn to the previous menu. Refer to
“Keyless Enter-N-Go” in “Things To
Know Before Starting Your Vehicle”.
Personal Settings Linked To FOB
(for versions/markets, where pro-
vided)
This feature provides automatic
driver seat positioning to enhance
driver mobility when entering and ex-
iting the vehicle. To make your selec-
tion, touch the Personal SettingsLinked To FOB soft-key, until a
check-mark appears next to setting,
showing that setting has been se-
lected. Touch the back arrow soft-key
to return to the previous menu.
NOTE: The seat will return to the
memorized seat location (if Recall
Memory with Remote Key Unlock
is set to ON) when the Remote Key-
less Entry (RKE) transmitter is
used to unlock the door. Refer to
“Driver Memory Seat” in “Under-
standing The Features Of Your Ve-
hicle” for further information.
Engine Off Options
After pressing the Engine Off Options
soft-key the following settings will be
available.
Easy Exit Seat (for versions/
markets, where provided)
This feature provides automatic
driver seat positioning to enhance
driver mobility when entering and ex-
iting the vehicle. To make your selec-
tion, touch the Easy Exit Seats soft-
key, until a check-mark appears next
to setting, showing that setting has
been selected. Touch the back arrow
soft-key to return to the previous
menu.
Engine Off Power Delay (for
versions/markets, where provided)
When this feature is selected, the
power window switches, radio,
Uconnect® phone system (for
versions/markets, where provided),
DVD video system (for versions/
markets, where provided), power
sunroof (for versions/markets, where
provided), and power outlets will re-
main active for up to 10 minutes after
the ignition is cycled to OFF. Opening
either front door will cancel this fea-
ture. To change the Engine Off Power
Delay status touch the 0 seconds, 45
seconds, 5 minutes or 10 minutes
soft-key. Then touch the arrow back
soft-key.
Headlight Off Delay
When this feature is selected, the
driver can choose to have the head-
lights remain on for 0, 30, 60, or 90
seconds when exiting the vehicle. To
change the Headlight Off Delay status
touch the + or - soft-key to select your

5. Front Defrost Button
Press and release to change the cur-
rent airflow setting to Defrost mode.
The indicator illuminates when this
feature is ON. Air comes from the
windshield and side window demist
outlets. When the defrost button is
selected, the blower level will in-
crease. Use Defrost mode with maxi-
mum temperature settings for best
windshield and side window defrost-
ing and defogging. Performing this
function will cause the ATC to switch
into manual mode. If the front defrost
mode is turned off the climate system
will return to the previous setting.
6. Rear Defrost Button
Press and release this button to turn
on the rear window defroster and the
heated outside mirrors. An indicator
will illuminate when the rear window
defroster is on. The rear window de-
froster automatically turns off after
10 minutes.CAUTION!

Up Button
Provides the passenger with indepen-
dent temperature control. Push the
button for warmer temperature set-
tings. NOTE: Pressing this button
while in Sync mode will automati-
cally exit Sync.
8. Passenger Temperature Control
Down Button
Provides the passenger with indepen-
dent temperature control. Push the
button for cooler temperature set-
tings.
NOTE: Pressing this button
while in Sync mode will automati-
cally exit Sync.
9. Climate Control OFF Button
Press and release this button to turn
the Climate Control ON/OFF.
10. AUTO Operation Button
Automatically controls the interior
cabin temperature by adjusting air-
flow distribution and amount. Per-
forming this function will cause the
ATC to switch between manual mode
and automatic modes. Refer to “Au-
tomatic Operation” for more informa-
tion.

11. Driver Temperature Control
Down Button
Provides the driver with independent
temperature control. Push the button
for cooler temperature settings.
NOTE: In Sync mode, this but-
ton will also automatically adjust
the passenger temperature setting
at the same time.
12. Driver Temperature Control Up
Button
Provides the driver with independent
temperature control. Push the button
for warmer temperature settings.
NOTE: In Sync mode, this but-
ton will also automatically adjust
the passenger temperature setting
at the same time.
13. Modes
1. The airflow distribution mode can
be adjusted so air comes from the
instrument panel outlets, floor out-
lets, demist outlets and defrost out-
lets. The Mode settings are as follows: Panel Mode
Air comes from the outlets in
the instrument panel. Each of
these outlets can be individu-
ally adjusted to direct the flow of air.
The air vanes of the center outlets and
outboard outlets can be moved up and
down or side to side to regulate air-
flow direction. There is a shut off
wheel located below the air vanes to
shut off or adjust the amount of air-
flow from these outlets.
Bi-Level Mode Air comes from the instrument
panel outlets and floor outlets.
A slight amount of air is di-
rected through the defrost and side
window demister outlets.
NOTE: BI-LEVEL mode is de-
signed under comfort conditions
to provide cooler air out of the
panel outlets and warmer air from
the floor outlets.
Floor Mode Air comes from the floor out-
lets. A slight amount of air is
directed through the defrost
and side window demister outlets. Mix Mode
Air comes from the floor, de-
frost and side window demist
outlets. This mode works best
in cold or snowy conditions.
Defrost Mode Air comes from the windshield
and side window demist out-
lets. Use Defrost mode with
maximum temperature settings for
best windshield and side window de-
frosting and defogging. When the de-
frost mode is selected, the blower level
will increase.
14. SYNC
Press the Sync soft-key to toggle the
Sync feature On/Off. The Sync indi-
cator is illuminated when this feature
is enabled. Sync is used to synchro-
nize the passenger temperature set-
ting with the driver temperature set-
ting. Changing the passenger
temperature setting while in Sync will
automatically exit this feature.

CLIMATE CONTROL
FUNCTIONS
A/C (Air Conditioning)
The Air Conditioning (A/C) button
allows the operator to manually acti-
vate or deactivate the air conditioning
system. When the air conditioning
system is turned on, cool dehumidi-
fied air will flow through the outlets
into the cabin. For improved fuel
economy, press the A/C button to turn
off the air conditioning and manually
adjust the blower and airflow mode
settings. Also, make sure to select only
Panel, Bi-Level or Floor modes.
NOTE:
If fog or mist appears on thewindshield or side glass, select
Defrost mode and increase
blower speed.
If your air conditioning perfor- mance seems lower than ex-
pected, check the front of the
A/C condenser (located in front
of the radiator), for an accumu-
lation of dirt or insects. Clean
with a gentle water spray from behind the radiator and through
the condenser. Fabric front fas-
cia protectors may reduce air-
flow to the condenser, reducing
air conditioning performance.
MAX A/C
Max A/C sets the control for maxi-
mum cooling performance.Press and
release to toggle between Max A/C
and the prior settings. The soft-key
illuminates when Max A/C is ON.
In MAX A/C, the blower level and
mode position can be adjusted to de-
sired user settings. Pressing other set-
tings will cause the MAX A/C opera-
tion to switch to the prior settings and
the MAX A/C indicator will turn off.
Recirculation
When outside air contains
smoke, odors, or high hu-
midity, or if rapid cooling is
desired, you may wish to
recirculate interior air by pressing the
Recirculation control button. The re-
circulation indicator will illuminate
when this button is selected. Push the button a second time to turn off the
Recirculation mode and allow outside
air into the vehicle.
NOTE: In cold weather, use of
Recirculation mode may lead to
excessive window fogging. The re-
circulation feature may be un-
available (soft-key button greyed
out) if conditions exist that could
create fogging on the inside of he
windshield. On systems with
Manual Climate Controls, the Re-
circulation mode is not allowed in
Defrost mode to improve window
clearing operation. Recirculation
will be disabled automatically if
this mode is selected. Attempting
to use Recirculation while in this
mode will cause the LED in the
control button to blink and then
turn off.
AUTOMATIC
TEMPERATURE CONTROL
(ATC)
ATC Hard-keys are located in the cen-
ter of the instrument panel.

taining Your Vehicle” for proper cool-
ant selection.
Winter Operation
Use of the air Recirculation mode dur-
ing Winter months is not recom-
mended because it may cause window
fogging.
Vacation Storage
Any time you store your vehicle or
keep it out of service (i.e., vacation)
for two weeks or more, run the air
conditioning system at idle for about
five minutes in the fresh air and high
blower setting. This will ensure ad-
equate system lubrication to minimize
the possibility of compressor damage
when the system is started again.Window Fogging
Interior fogging on the windshield can
be quickly removed by turning the
mode selector to Defrost. The Defrost/
Floor mode can be used to maintain a
clear windshield and provide suffi-
cient heating. If side window fogging
becomes objectionable, increase
blower speed to improve airflow and
clearing of the side windows. Vehicle
windows tend to fog on the inside in
mild but rainy or humid weather.
NOTE:
Recirculate without A/C should
not be used for long periods, as
fogging may occur.
Automatic Temperature Con- trols (ATC) will automatically
adjust the climate control set-
tings to reduce or eliminate win-
dow fogging on the front wind-
shield. When this occurs,
recirculation will be
unavailable. A/C Air Filter
The climate control system filters out-
side air containing dust, pollen and
some odors. Strong odors cannot be
totally filtered out. Refer to “Mainte-
nance Procedures” in “Maintaining
Your Vehicle” for filter replacement
instructions.

STARTING
PROCEDURES
Before starting your vehicle, adjust
your seat, adjust the inside and out-
side mirrors, fasten your seat belt, and
if present, instruct all other occupants
to buckle their seat belts.

NORMAL STARTING —
GASOLINE ENGINE
Using The ENGINE START/STOP
Button
1. The transmission must be in PARK
or NEUTRAL.
2. Press and hold the brake pedal
while pressing the ENGINE START/
STOP button once.
3. The system takes over and at-
tempts to start the vehicle. If the ve-
hicle fails to start, the starter will dis-
engage automatically after
10 seconds.
4. If you wish to stop the cranking of
the engine prior to the engine starting,
press the button again.
NOTE: Normal starting of either a
cold or a warm engine is obtained
without pumping or pressing the
accelerator pedal.

KEY IGNITION PARK
INTERLOCK
This vehicle is equipped with a Key
Ignition Park Interlock which re-
quires the transmission to be in PARK
before the engine can be turned off. This helps the driver avoid inadver-
tently leaving the vehicle without
placing the transmission in PARK.
This system also locks the transmis-
sion in PARK whenever the ignition
switch is in the OFF position.
BRAKE/TRANSMISSION
SHIFT INTERLOCK
SYSTEM
This vehicle is equipped with a Brake
Transmission Shift Interlock System
(BTSI) that holds the shift lever in
PARK unless the brakes are applied.
To shift the transmission out of PARK,
the ignition switch must be turned to
the ON/RUN position (engine run-
ning, for vehicles with 8-speed trans-
mission) and the brake pedal must be
pressed.
In 8-speed vehicles, the brake pedal
must also be pressed to shift from
NEUTRAL into DRIVE or REVERSE
when the vehicle is stopped or moving
at low speeds.
EIGHT-SPEED AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION – 3.6L
ENGINE
Your vehicle is equipped with a state
of the art, fuel efficient eight-speed
transmission. The electronic shift le-
ver in this vehicle does not slide like a
conventional shifter. Instead, the shift
lever is spring loaded and moves for-
ward and rearward, always returning
to the center position after each gear is
selected. The transmission gear range
(PRND) is displayed both on the shift
lever and in the Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC). To select
a gear range, press the lock button on
the shift lever and move the lever rear-
ward or forward. You must also press
the brake pedal to shift the transmis-
sion out of PARK, or to shift from
NEUTRAL into DRIVE or REVERSE
when the vehicle is stopped or moving
at low speeds (refer to “Brake/
Transmission Shift Interlock System”
in this section). To shift past multiple
gear ranges at once (such as PARK to
DRIVE), move the lever past the first
(or second) detent. Select the DRIVE
range for normal driving.

Your vehicle could move and in-jure you and others if it is not in
PARK. Check by trying to move
the shift lever out of PARK with
the brake pedal released. Make
sure the transmission is in PARK
before leaving the vehicle.
It is dangerous to shift out of PARK or NEUTRAL if the engine
speed is higher than idle speed. If
your foot is not firmly pressing
the brake pedal, the vehicle could
accelerate quickly forward or in
reverse. You could lose control of
the vehicle and hit someone or
something. Only shift into gear
when the engine is idling nor-
mally and your foot is firmly
pressing the brake pedal.

Unintended movement of a ve-hicle could injure those in or near
the vehicle. As with all vehicles,
you should never exit a vehicle
while the engine is running. Be-
fore exiting a vehicle, always ap-
ply the parking brake, shift the
transmission into PARK, turn the
engine OFF, and remove the key
fob. When the ignition is in the
OFF position, the transmission is
locked in PARK, securing the ve-
hicle against unwanted move-
ment.
When leaving the vehicle, always remove the key fob and lock your
vehicle.
