HEADRESTS
12) 13)
FRONT HEAD
RESTRAINTS
They are height-adjustable: to adjust
them operate as follows.
Upwards adjustment: raise the head
restraint until it clicks into place.
Downward adjustment:press button
A fig. 11 and lower the head restraint.
"Anti-Whiplash" device
The head restraints are equipped with
an “Anti-Whiplash” device, which
reduces the distance between head
and head restraint in the event of a rear
impact, thus mitigating the "whiplash"
effect. The head restraint may move when the
backrest is pressed by the occupant’s
torso or hand: this behaviour is caused
by the system and should not be
considered a malfunction.
REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS
(for versions/markets, where provided)
Two height-adjustable head restraints
are provided for the rear seats. On
some versions a head restraint is also
provided for the central seat.
Upwards adjustment: raise the head
restraint until it clicks into place.
Downward adjustment:press button
A fig. 12 and lower the head restraint.
Removal
Proceed as follows to remove the head
restraints:
raise the head restraints to their
maximum height;
press buttons A and B fig. 12 at the
side of the two supports, then remove
the head restraints by pulling them
upwards.
IMPORTANT If the rear seats are used,
always set the head restraints in the
"completely raised" position.
WARNING
12)All adjustments must be made with the
car stationary. Head restraints must be
adjusted so that the head, rather than the
neck, rests on them. Only in this case
they can protect your head correctly.
13)To make the best use of the head
restraint's protective action, adjust the
backrest so that you are sitting upright and
keep your head as close as possible to
the head restraint.

prevent the retractors from getting
wet: their correct operation is only
guaranteed if water does not get inside
replace the seat belt when it shows
wear or cuts.
WARNING
76)The pretensioner may be used only
once. Contact a Lancia Dealership to have
it replaced after it has been deployed.
77)For maximum safety, keep the backrest
upright, lean back into it and make sure
the seat belt fits closely across your chest
and pelvis. Always fasten the seat belts
on both the front and the rear seats!
Travelling without wearing seat belts will
increase the risk of serious injury and even
death in the event of an accident.
78)Removing or tampering with seat belt
and pretensioner components is strictly
prohibited. Any intervention on these
components must be performed by
qualified and authorised technicians.
Always go to a Lancia Dealership.
79)If the belt has been sharply pulled, for
example as the result of an accident,
the seat belt, together with the anchoring
devices, the anchoring device fixing screws
and the pretensioner must be completely
replaced. Even if the belt does not present
any exterior signs of wear or damage, it
may have lost its restraining properties.
WARNING
33)Operations which lead to impacts,
vibrations or localised heating (over 100°C
for a maximum of six hours) in the area
around the pretensioner may cause
damage or make it deploy. Contact a
Lancia Dealership should intervention be
necessary on these components.
CHILD PROTECTION
SYSTEMS
CARRYING CHILDREN
SAFELY
80) 81) 82) 83)
For optimal protection in the event of an
impact, all occupants must be seated
and wearing adequate restraint
systems, including newborn and other
children! This prescription is
compulsory in all EC countries
according to EC Directive 2003/20/EC.
Children below the height of 1.50
metres and up to 12 years must be
protected with suitable restraint
systems and be seated on the rear
seats.
Statistics on accidents indicate that the
rear seats offer greater safety for
children.
Compared with an adult, a child's head
is larger and heavier in proportion to
their body and the child's muscular and
bone structures are not fully developed.
Therefore, correct restraint systems
other than adult seat belts are
necessary to reduce as much as
possible the risk of injuries in the event
of an accident, braking or sudden
manoeuvre.

Group 2
Children from 15 to 25 kg may use the
vehicle seat belts directly fig. 58.
In this case, the child restraint system is
used to position the child correctly
with respect to the seat belts so that
the diagonal belt section crosses the
child’s chest and not the neck, and the
lower part is snug on the pelvis not
the abdomen.Group 3
For children between 22 kg and 36 kg,
there are boosters which allow the
seat belt to be worn correctly.
The fig. 59 shows the correct child
positioning on the rear seat.
Children over 1.50 m in height can wear
seat belts like adults.
