the cover.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

■Back-up lightsOpen the trunk lid.
For the left side (vehicles with
power trunk opener and closer
only): Pry out each side of the
trunk closer switch in turn by
inserting a screwdriver into the
base.
To prevent damage, cover the tip of
the screwdriver with a rag.
Remove the clips on whichever
side you are replacing and
open the cover of the trunk lid.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
When installing, pass the wire
around the connector rib and make
sure that it does not rest on top of
the connector rib.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

■Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by your
Lexus dealer.
●Headlight low beams (discharge bulbs)
●Parking lights/daytime running lights
●Side turn signal lights
●LED fog lights (if equipped)
●Stop/tail lights
●Tail lights
●Rear side marker lights
●High mounted stoplight
●License plate lights
●Outer foot lights
■Discharge headlights (if equipped)
If voltage to the discharge bulbs is insufficient, the bulbs may not come on, or may go
out temporarily. The discharge bulbs will come on when normal power is restored.
■LED lights
The parking lights/daytime runni ng lights, side turn signal lights, LED fog lights (if
equipped), stop/tail lights, tail lights, rear side marker lights, high mounted stoplight,
license plate lights and outer foot lights co nsist of a number of LEDs. If any of the
LEDs burn out, take your vehicle to your Lexus dealer to have the light replaced.
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the insi de of the headlight lens does not indi-
cate a malfunction. Contact your Lexus dealer for more information in the following
situations:
●Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.
■When replacing light bulbs

Maintenance and care
CAUTION
■Replacing light bulbs
●Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after turning
off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the li ght bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clean dry cloth to avoid
getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
●Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so may
result in heat damage, fire, or water en tering the headlight unit. This may damage
the headlights or cause condensati on to build up on the lens.
■Discharge headlights (if equipped)
●Contact your Lexus dealer before replacing the discharge he adlights (including
light bulbs).
●Do not touch the discharge headlight’s high voltage socket when the headlights
are turned on.
An extremely high voltage of 25000 V will be discharged and could result in
death or serious injury by electric shock.
●Do not attempt to take apart or repair the headlight bulbs, connectors, power
supply circuits, or related components.
Doing so could result in electric shock and death or serious injury.
■To prevent damage or fire
●Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
●Check the wattage of the bulb before installing to prevent heat damage.

Emergency flashers
Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash.
To turn them off, press the switch once again.
■Emergency flashers
Gasoline vehicles: If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the
engine is not operating, the 12-volt battery may discharge.
Hybrid vehicles: If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid
system is not operating (while the “READY” indicator is not illuminated), the 12-volt
battery may discharge.
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the vehi-
cle has to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer
sounds
The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake system.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Lexus
dealer.
*: Brake system warning buzzer (hybrid vehicles): When there is a possible problem that could affect braking performance, the
warning light will come on an d a warning buzzer will sound.

■Brake system warning light operation (hybrid vehicles)
Although depressing the brake pedal repeatedly may cause the red brake system
warning light to turn on and the buzzer to sound, this does not indicate a malfunction.
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes
on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does
not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this
continues to occur, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Stop the vehicle immediately. Cont inuing to drive the vehicle may
be dangerous.

Brake system warning light (warning buzzer)*
•Low brake fluid
• Malfunction in the brake booster system
This light also comes on when the parking brake is not released.
If the light turns off after the parking brake is fully released the
system is operating normally.

that may lead to an acc ident. Immediately stop th e vehicle in a safe place
and contact your Lexus dealer.
Failure to investigate the cause of th e following warnings may lead to the
system operating abnormally and possib ly cause an accident. Have the
vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system
is not malfunctioning:
• The light will flash quickly when the system is operating. ( P. 3 2 1 )
• The light will turn on when the pre-collision system is dis- abled. ( P. 3 2 2 )
• The light will flash when the system cannot temporarily be used. ( P. 6 4 6 )
Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC system;
•The TRAC system; or
• The hill-start assist control system (hybrid vehicles)
Gasoline vehicles:
The light will flash when the VSC or the TRAC is operating.
Hybrid vehicles:
The light will flash when the ABS, the VSC, the TRAC or the
hill-start assist control system is operating.
