■Front side marker lights
Partly remove the fender liner.
Perform the procedure for “Front turn signal lights” from step 1 to 2.
( P. 484)
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps
listed.
After installing the bulb base, reinstall
the fender liner an d install the clips
and screw.

Maintenance and care
■Rear turn signal lightsOpen the trunk lid and remove
the cover.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

■Back-up lights
Open the trunk lid.
For the left side (vehicles with
power trunk opener and closer
only): Pry out each side of the
trunk closer switch in turn by
inserting a screwdriver into the
base.
To prevent damage, cover the tip of
the screwdriver with a rag.
Remove the clips on whichever
side you are replacing and open
the cover of the trunk lid.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
When installing, pass the wire around
the connector rib and make sure that
it does not rest on top of the connec-
tor rib.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

When trouble arises
If the electronic key do
es not operate properly
■Doors
Use the mechanical key ( P. 1 0 5 )
in order to perform the following
operations:
Locks all the doors
Closes the windows and moon
roof (turn and hold)

Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks the
driver’s door. Turning the key once
again within 5 seconds unlocks the
other doors.
Opens the windows and moon roof (turn and hold)*

: This setting must be customized at your Lexus dealer.
■Tr u n k
Turn the mechanical key clockwise
to open.
If communication between the electronic key and vehicle is interrupted
(  P. 123) or the electronic key cannot be used because the battery is
depleted, the smart access system with push-button start and wireless
remote control cannot be used. In su ch cases, the doors and trunk can be
opened and the hybrid system can be started by following the procedure
below.
