QSituations in which the system may not
operate properly
OIn some situations such as the following,
an object may not be detected by the
radar sensor and front camera, prevent-
ing the system from operating properly:
• When a detectable object is approaching
your vehicle
• When your vehicle or a detectable object is wobbling
• If a detectable object makes an abrupt maneuver (such as sudden swerving,
acceleration or deceleration)
• When your vehicle approaches a detect- able object rapidly
• When a detectable object is not directly
in front of your vehicle
• When a detectable object is near a wall, fence, guardrail, manhole cover, vehicle,
steel plate on the road, etc.
• When a detectable object is under a
structure
• When part of a detectable object is hid- den by an object, such as large baggage,
an umbrella, or guardrail
• When there are many things which can reflect the radio waves of the radar in the
vicinity (tunnels, truss bridges, gravel
roads, snow covered road that have
tracks, etc.)
• When there is an effect on the radio waves to the radar that is installed on another vehicle
• When multiple detectable objects are close together
• If the sun or other light is shining directly on a detectable object
• When a detectable object is a shade of
white and looks extremely bright
• When a detectable object appears to be nearly the same color or brightness as its
surroundings
• If a detectable object cuts or suddenly emerges in front of your vehicle
• When the front of your vehicle is hit by water, snow, dust, etc.
• When a very bright light ahead, such as
the sun or the headlights of oncoming
traffic, shines directly into the front cam-
era
• When approaching the side or front of a vehicle ahead
• If a vehicle ahead is a motorcycle
• If a vehicle ahead is narrow, such as a personal mobility vehicle
• If a preceding vehicle has a small rear
end, such as an unloaded truck
• If a preceding vehicle has a low rear end, such as a low bed trailer
• If a vehicle ahead has extremely high ground clearance
• If a vehicle ahead is carrying a load which protrudes past its rear bumper
• If a vehicle ahead is irregularly shaped, such as a tractor or side car
• If a vehicle ahead is a child sized bicycle, a bicycle that is carrying a large load, a

QBefore using LTA system
ODo not rely solely upon the LTA sys-
tem. The LTA system does not auto-
matically drive the vehicle or reduce
the amount of attention that must be
paid to the area in front of the vehicle.
The driver must always assume full
responsibility for driving safely by pay-
ing careful attention to the surround-
ing conditions and operating the
steering wheel to correct the path of
the vehicle. Also, the driver must take
adequate breaks when fatigued, such
as from driving for a long period of
time.
OFailure to perform appropriate driving
operations and pay careful attention
may lead to an accident, resulting in
death or serious injury.
QSituations unsuitable for LTA system
In the following situations, use the LTA
switch to turn the system off. Failure to do
so may lead to an acc ident, resulting in
death or serious injury.
OVehicle is driven on a road surface
which is slippery due to rainy weather,
fallen snow, freezing, etc.
OVehicle is driven on a snow-covered
road.
OWhite (yellow) lines are difficult to see
due to rain, snow, fog, dust, etc.
OVehicle is driven in a temporary lane
or restricted lane due to construction
work.
OVehicle is driven in a construction
zone.
OA spare tire, tire chains, etc. are
equipped.
OWhen the tires have been excessively
worn, or when the tire inflation pres-
sure is low.
ODuring emergency towing
QPreventing LTA system malfunctions
and operations performed by mistake
ODo not modify the headlights or place
stickers, etc. on the surface of the
lights.
ODo not modify the suspension etc. If
the suspension etc. needs to be
replaced, contact your Lexus dealer.
ODo not install or place anything on the
hood or grille. Also, do not install a
grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar,
etc.).
OIf your windshield needs repairs, con-
tact your Lexus dealer.
QConditions in which functions may
not operate properly
In the following situations, the functions
may not operate properly and the vehi-
cle may depart from its lane. Drive safely
by always paying careful attention to
your surroundings and operate the
steering wheel to correct the path of the
vehicle without relying solely on the func-
tions.
OWhen the follow-up cruising display is
displayed ( P.197) and the preced-
ing vehicle changes lanes. (Your vehi-
cle may follow the preceding vehicle
and also change lanes.)
OWhen the follow-up cruising display is
displayed ( P.197) and the preced-
ing vehicle is swaying. (Your vehicle
may sway accordingly and depart from
the lane.)

QLane departure alert function
When the system determines that the
vehicle might depart from its lane or
course
*, a warning is displayed on the
multi-information display, and either a
warning buzzer will sound or the steer-
ing wheel will vibrate to alert the driver.
When the warning buzzer sounds or the
steering wheel vibrates, check the area
around your vehicle and carefully operate
the steering wheel to move the vehicle
back to the center of the lane.
When the system determines that the vehi-
cle might depart from its lane and that the
possibility of a collision with an overtaking
vehicle in the adjacent lane is high, the lane
departure alert will operate even if the turn
signals are operating.

WARNING
OLight from the headlights of an oncom-
ing vehicle, the sun, etc. enters the
camera.
OThe vehicle is driven on a slope.
OThe vehicle is driven on a road which
tilts left or right, or a winding road.
OThe vehicle is driven on an unpaved or
rough road.
OThe traffic lane is excessively narrow
or wide.
OThe vehicle is extremely tilted due to
carrying heavy luggage or having
improper tire pressure.
OThe distance to the preceding vehicle
is extremely short.
OThe vehicle is moving up and down a
large amount due to road conditions
during driving (poor roads or road
seams).
OWhen driving in a tunnel or at night
with the headlights off or when a head-
light is dim due to its lens being dirty or
it being misaligned.
OThe vehicle is struck by a crosswind.
OThe vehicle is affected by wind from a
vehicle driven in a nearby lane.
OThe vehicle has just changed lanes or
crossed an intersection.
OTires which differ by structure, manu-
facturer, brand or tread pattern are
used.
OWhen tires of a size other than speci-
fied are installed.
OSnow tires, etc. are equipped.
OThe vehicle is being driven at
extremely high speeds.

QSituations in which the system may not

OSome pedestrians, such as the following,
may not be detected by the rear camera
detection function, preventing the func-
tion from operating properly:
• Pedestrians who are bending forward or squatting
• Pedestrians who are lying down
• Pedestrians who are running
• Pedestrians who suddenly enter the detection area
• People riding a bicycle, skateboard, or other light vehicle
• Pedestrians wearing oversized clothing such as a rain coat, long skirt, etc., making
their silhouette obscure
• Pedestrians whose body is partially hid- den by an object, such as a cart or
umbrella
• Pedestrians which are obscured by dark- ness, such as at night
OIn some situations, such as the following,
pedestrians may not be detected by the
rear camera detection function, prevent-
ing the function from operating properly:
• When backing up in inclement weather (rain, snow, fog, etc.)
• When the rear camera is obscured (dirt, snow, ice, etc. are attached) or scratched
• When a very bright light, such as the sun,
or the headlights of another vehicle,
shines directly into the rear camera
• When backing up in a place where the
surrounding brightness changes sud-
denly, such as at the entrance or exit of a
garage or underground parking lot
• When backing up in a dim environment such as during dusk or in an underground
parking lot
• When the camera position and direction are deviated
• When a towing hook is attached
• When water droplets are flowing on the camera lens
• When the vehicle height is extremely
changed (nose up, nose down)
• When tire chains or an emergency tire
puncture repair kit are used
QSituations in which the system may
operate unexpectedly
OEven though there are no pedestrians in the detection area, some objects, such as
the following, may be detected, possibly
causing the rear camera detection func-
tion to operate.
• Three dimensional objects, such as a pole, traffic cone, fence, or parked vehi-
cle
• Moving objects, such as a car or motor- cycle
• Objects moving toward your vehicle when backing up, such as flags or pud-
dles (or airborne matter, such as smoke,
steam, rain, or snow)
• Cobblestone or gravel roads, tram rails, road repairs, white lines, pedestrian
crossings or fallen leaves on the road
• Metal covers (gratings), such as those used for drainage ditches
• Objects reflected in a puddle or on a wet road surface
•Shadows on the road
OIn some situations, such as the following,
the rear camera detection function may
operate even though there are no pedes-
trians in the detection area.
• When backing up toward the roadside or
a bump on the road
• When backing up toward an incline/decline
• If the rear of the vehicle is raised or low- ered due to the carried load
• If a bumper protector, such as an addi-
tional trim strip, is installed to the rear
bumper
• If the orientation of the rear camera has
been changed due to a collision or other
impact, or removal and installation
• If a towing eyelet is installed to the rear of
the vehicle
• When water is flowing over the rear cam- era lens
• When the rear camera is obscured (dirt, snow, ice, etc. are attached) or scratched
• If there is a flashing light in the detection
area, such as the emergency flashers of
another vehicle
• When tire chains or an emergency tire puncture repair kit are used.

lights
1 Using a Phillips-head screwdriver,
turn bolt A in either direction.
Remember the turning direction and the
number of turns.
2Turn bolt B the same number of
turns and in the same direction as
step 1.
If the headlight cannot be adjusted using
this procedure, take the vehicle to your
Lexus dealer to adjust the headlight aim.

QLED lights
The lights other than the front turn signal
lights (vehicles with single-beam head-
lights) and front side marker lights (vehicles
with single-beam headlights) each consist
of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs
burn out, take your vehicle to your Lexus
dealer to have the light replaced.
QCondensation build-up on the inside of
the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the
inside of the headlight lens does not indi-
cate a malfunction. Contact your Lexus
dealer for more information in the following
situations:
OLarge drops of water have built up on the
inside of the lens.
OWater has built up inside the headlight.
QFront turn signal lights/front side
marker lights
1 To ensure enough space to per-
form work, turn the steering wheel
to rotate the front wheel away from
the bulb to be replaced. Remove
the fender liner clip.
Turn the steering wheel to the left when
replacing the right side light bulb, and turn
the steering wheel to the right when
replacing the left side light bulb.
2To protect the front bumper from
being damaged, apply protective
tape around the clips as shown in
the illustration.
Use masking tape, etc. Do not use duct
tape, as it may leave residue or damage the
paint when removed.
3Insert a flathead screwdriver
between the front bumper and the
fender liner and then detach the
claw.

When trouble arises
6Open and close any of the doors of
your vehicle with the power switch
off.
7 Maintain the engine speed of the
second vehicle and start the hybrid
system of your vehicle by turning
the power switch to ON mode.
8 Make sure the “READY” indicator
comes on. If the indicator does not
come on, contact your Lexus
dealer.
9 Once the vehicle’s hybrid system
has started, remove the jumper
cables in the exact reverse order
from which they were connected.
10 Close the exclusive jump starting
terminal cover, and reinstall the
fuse box cover to its original posi-
tion.
Once the hybrid system starts, have the
vehicle inspected at your Lexus dealer as
soon as possible.
QStarting the hybrid system when the 12-
volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by
push-starting.
QTo prevent 12-volt battery discharge
OTurn off the headlights and the audio sys-
tem while the hybrid system is stopped.
OTurn off any unnecessary electrical com-
ponents when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such
as in heavy traffic.
QWhen the 12-volt battery is removed or
discharged
OInformation stored in the ECU is cleared.
When the 12-volt battery is depleted,
have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus
dealer.
OSome systems may require initialization.

QWhen removing the 12-volt battery ter-
minals
When the 12-volt battery terminals are
removed, the information stored in the
ECU is cleared. Before removing the 12-
volt battery terminals, contact your Lexus
dealer.
QCharging the 12-volt battery
The electricity stored in the 12-volt battery
will discharge gradually even when the
vehicle is not in use, due to natural dis-
charge and the draining effects of certain
electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for
a long time, the 12-volt battery may dis-
charge, and the hybrid system may be
unable to start. (The 12-volt battery
recharges automatically while the hybrid
system is operating.)
QWhen recharging or replacing the 12-
volt battery
OIn some cases, it may not be possible to
unlock the doors using the smart access
system with push-button start when the
12-volt battery is discharged. Use the
wireless remote control or the mechani-
cal key to lock or unlock the doors.
OThe hybrid system may not start on the
first attempt after the 12-volt battery has
recharged but will start normally after the
second attempt. This is not a malfunction.
OThe power switch mode is memorized by
the vehicle. When the 12-volt battery is
reconnected, the system will return to the
mode it was in before the 12-volt battery
was discharged. Before disconnecting
the 12-volt battery, turn the power switch
off.
If you are unsure what mode the power
switch was in before the 12-volt battery
discharged, be especially careful when
reconnecting the 12-volt battery.
QWhen replacing the 12-volt battery
OUse a 12-volt battery that conforms to
European regulations.
OUse a 12-volt battery that the case size is
same as the previous one (LN2), 20 hour
rate capacity (20HR) is equivalent
(60Ah) or greater, and performance rat-
ing (CCA) is equivalent (563A) or
greater.
