Engine immobilizer system (gasoline vehicles)
The indicator light flashes after the
“START STOP ENGINE” switch
has been turned off to indicate that
the system is operating.
The indicator light stops flashing
after the “START STOP ENGINE”
switch has been turned to
ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON
mode to indicate that the system has
been canceled.
■System maintenance
The vehicle has a maintenance-free type engine immobilizer system.
■Conditions that may cause the system to malfunction
●If the grip portion of the key is in contact with a metallic object
●If the key is in close proximity to or touching a key to the security system (key with a
built-in transponder chip) of another vehicle
The vehicle’s keys have built-in tr ansponder chips that prevent the
engine from starting if a key has not been previously registered in the
vehicle’s on-board computer.
Never leave the keys inside the vehicle when you leave the vehicle.
This system is designed to help pr event vehicle theft but does not guar-
antee absolute security against all vehicle thefts.

Alarm
The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is
detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations when the alarm is set:
●A locked door or trunk is unlocked or opened in any way other than
using the entry function, wireless remote control or mechanical key.
(The doors will lock again automatically.)
●The hood is opened.
Close the doors, trunk and hood,
and lock all the doors. The system
will be set automatically after 30
seconds.
The indicator light changes from
being on to flashing when the system
is set.
Do one of the following to deactivate or stop the alarms:
●Unlock the doors or open the trunk.
●Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch to ACCES-
SORY or IGNITION ON mode, or start the engine tem>. (The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few seconds.)

Check that a light bulb in the front or re ar turn signal lights has not burned out.
■If the turn signals stop flashing before a lane change has been performed
Operate the lever again.
■To discontinue flashing of the tu rn signals during a lane change
Operate the lever in the opposite direction.
■Customization
The number of times the turn signals flash during a lane change can be changed.

Hill-start assist control (hybrid vehicles)
To engage hill-start assist control,
further depress the brake pedal
when the vehicle is stopped com-
pletely.
A buzzer will sound once to indicate
the system is activated. The slip indica-
tor will also start flashing.
■Hill-start assist control operating conditions
●The system operates in the following situations:
• The shift lever is in a position other than P.
• The parking brake is not applied.
• The accelerator peda l is not depressed.
●Hill-start assist control cannot be operated while the slip indicator light is illumi-
nated.
■Hill-start assist control
●While hill-start assist control is operating, the brakes remain automatically applied
after the driver releases the brake pedal. The stop lights and the high mounted
stoplight turn on.
●Hill-start assist control operates for about 2 seconds after the brake pedal is
released.
●If the slip indicator does not flash and the buzzer does not sound when the brake
pedal is further depressed, slightly reduce the pressure on the brake pedal (do not
allow the vehicle to roll backward) and then firmly depress it again. If the system still
does not operate, check that the operating conditions explained above have been
met.
Assists with starting off and temporarily maintains braking power even
if the foot is removed from the brake pedal when starting off on an
incline or a slippery slope.

Driving
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert functions when your vehicle is in reverse. It
can detect other vehicles approaching from the right or left rear of the
vehicle. It uses radar sensors to alert the driver of the other vehicle’s exist-
ence through flashing the outside rear view mirror indicators and sound-
ing a buzzer.

■Cautions regarding the use of the system
The driver is solely responsible for safe driving. Always drive safely, taking care to
observe your surroundings.
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function is only an assist and is not a replacement for
careful driving. Driver must be careful when backing up, even when using Rear
Cross Traffic Alert function. The driver’s own visual confirmation of behind you and
your vehicle is necessary and be sure there are no pedestrians, other vehicles etc.
before backing up. Failure to do so could cause death or serious injury.
According to conditions, the system may not function correctly. Therefore the
driver’s own visual confirmation of safety is necessary.

Press and hold the pro-
grammed HomeLink
® button
(located inside the vehicle) for
2 seconds and release it.
Repeat this sequence (press/
hold/release) up to 3 times to
complete programming.
If the garage door opener motor
activates when the HomeLink®
button is pressed, the garage door
opener motor recognizes the
HomeLink
® signal.
Repeat the steps above to progra m another device for any of the
remaining HomeLink
® buttons.
■Reprogramming a single HomeLink® button
When the following procedure is pe rformed, buttons which already
have devices registered to them can be overwritten:
With one hand, press and hold the desired HomeLink
® button.
When the HomeLink
® indicator starts flashing, continue to hold the
HomeLink
® button and perform “Programming HomeLink®” from
(it takes 20 seconds for the HomeLink
® indicator to start flash-
ing).

When the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch is turned to
IGNITION ON mode, the red indicator light comes on for 2 sec-
onds then turns off. Afterward, the green indicator light comes on, indicat-
ing that the service is active.
The following indicator light patter ns indicate specific system usage con-
ditions:
●Green indicator light on = Active service
●Green indicator light flashing = Safety Connect call in process
●Red indicator light (except at vehicle start-up) = System malfunction
(contact your Lexus dealer)
●No indicator light (off) = Safety Connect service not active
■Automatic Collision Notification
In case of either airbag deployment or severe rear-end collision, the
system is designed to automatically call the response center. The
responding agent receives the vehicl e’s location and attempts to speak
with the vehicle occupants to assess the level of emergency. If the occu-
pants are unable to communicate, th e agent automatically treats the
call as an emergency, contacts th e nearest emergency services pro-
vider to describe the situation, and re quests that assistance be sent to
the location.
