Maintenance and care
WARNING
■To prevent system breakdowns and vehicle fire
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle, and possibly a fire or injury.
●Never use a fuse of a higher amperage rating than that indicated, or use any other
object in place of a fuse.
●Always use a genuine Lexus fuse or equivalent.
Never replace a fuse with a wire, even as a temporary fix.
●Do not modify the fuses or fuse boxes.
NOTICE
■Before replacing fuses
Have the cause of electrical overload determined and repaired by your Lexus dealer as
soon as possible.

Light bulbs
Check the wattage of the light bulb to be replaced. (

■Front
Front side marker light
Headlight high beam (halogen bulb)
Front turn signal light
You may replace the following bulbs by yo urself. The difficulty level of replace-
ment varies depending on the bulb. If necessary bulb replacement seems diffi-
cult to perform, contact your Lexus dealer.
For more information about replacing other light bulbs, contact your Lexus
dealer.

■Headlight high beam (halogen bulb)
Turn the cover counterclockwise
and remove it.
Unplug the connector while pull-
ing the lock release.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Set the new light bulb.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb with
the mounting, and insert.
Turn it clockwise to set.

Set the connector.
Shake the bulb base gently to check
that it is not loose, turn the headlight
high beams on once and visually
confirm that no light is leaking
through the mounting.
Install the cover and turn it clock-
wise.
Align the ▲ of the cover to the posi-
tioning mark of the lamp body and
insert and turn it.
■Front turn signal lights
To allow enough working space,
turn the steering wheel to the
opposite side of the bulb to be
replaced.
Remove the 3 fender liner clips
and 1 screw.

While holding the clamp open,
pull and remove the tabs and
open the fender liner.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.2

When installing, reverse the steps
listed.
After installing the bulb base, reinstall
the fender liner and install the clips
and screw.
■Front side marker lightsPartly remove the fender liner.
Perform the procedure for “Front turn signal lights” from step 1 to 2.
(→ P. 465)
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.

When installing, reverse the steps
listed.
After installing the bulb base, reinstall
the fender liner and install the clips
and screw.
■Rear turn signal lights
Open the trunk lid and remove
the cover.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.

Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.
■Back-up lightsOpen the trunk lid.
For the left side (vehicles with
power trunk opener and closer
only): Pry out each side of the
trunk closer switch in turn by
inserting a screwdriver into the
base.
To prevent damage, cover the tip of
the screwdriver with a rag.
Remove the clips on whichever
side you are replacing and open
the cover of the trunk lid.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
When installing, pass the wire around
the connector rib and make sure that
it does not rest on top of the connec-
tor rib.

Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.
■Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed
below has burnt out, have it replaced by your Lexus
dealer.
●Headlight low beams
●Headlight high beams (LED type)
●Parking lights/daytime running lights
●Side turn signal lights
●Fog lights
●Stop/tail lights
●High mounted stoplight
●License plate lights
●Outer foot lights
●Rear side marker lights
■LED lights
The headlight low beams, headlight high beam s (LED type), parking lights/daytime run-
ning lights, fog lights, side turn signal lights, stop/tail lights, rear side marker lights, high
mounted stoplight and license plate lights cons ist of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs
burn out, take your vehicle to your Le xus dealer to have the light replaced.
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction. Contact your Lexus dealer for mo re information in the following situations:
●Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.
