The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver and front
passenger that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds intermittently for
30 seconds after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat
belt is still unfastened , the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on the front passenge r seat, the front passenger detection sensor
may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn-
ing light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
The malfunction indicator lamp will come on if the fuel tank becomes completely empty.
If the fuel tank is empty, refuel the vehicle immediately. The malfunction indicator lamp
will go off after several trips.
If the malfunction indicator lamp does not go off, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional as soon as possible.

Tire pressure warning light When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes ( →P. 5 1 6 )
• Flat tire ( →P. 551, 567)
→ Adjust the tire inflation pressure (including the full-size spare
tire) to the specified level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case the light does
not turn off even if the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, have the
system checked by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
When the light comes on af ter blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system
→ Have the system checked by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

Indicates that the washer fluid level is low
→Add washer fluid.
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 9.9 L
(2.6 gal., 2.2 Imp.gal.) or less
→Refuel the vehicle.
Indicates that the outside temperature is approximately
3°C (37 °F) or lower
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Drive carefully, as the road may be icy.
(GS350/GS200t only)
Indicates that the engine oil is scheduled to be changed
→ Check the engine oil and change if necessary. After
changing the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( →P. 4 5 5 )
(The indicator will not work properly unless the oil
maintenance data has been reset.)
(If equipped)
Indicates that the fuel in jectors require maintenance
soon
→ Have any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional
replenish the injector cleaner to the fuel tank and
reset the message as necessary.
(GS350/GS200t only)
Indicates that the engine oil and oil filter should be
changed
→Have the engine oil and oil filter checked and/or
changed by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped
professional. After changing the engine oil, the oil
change system should be reset. ( →P. 4 5 5 )

Indicates that the fuel injectors require maintenance
→Have any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional
replenish the injector cl eaner and reset the mes-
sage.
(If equipped)
Indicates that the Automatic High Beam switch was
pressed while the low beams were on
→ Turn the high beam headlights on before pressing
the automatic high beam switch.
(If equipped)
Indicates that the Adaptive High-beam System switch
was pressed while the low beams were on
→Turn the high beam headlights on before pressing
the adaptive high beam switch.
(If equipped)
Indicates that, since the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system was turned off, the pre-crash braking and pre-
crash brake assist are stopped (The pre-crash warning
function will be operational)

If the engine will not start
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
●The engine may be flooded.
Try to restart the engine again following correct starting procedures.

●There may be a malfunction in the engine immobilizer system. ( →P. 8 6 )
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●The battery may be discharged. ( →P. 5 9 1 )
●The battery terminal connections may be loose or corroded.
The engine starting system may be malfunctioning due to an electrical problem
such as electronic key battery depletion or a blown fuse. However, an interim
measure is available to start the engine. ( →P. 5 8 4 )
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●One or both of the battery terminals may be disconnected.
●The battery may be discharged. ( →P. 5 9 1 )
●There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures are
unknown.
If the engine will not start even though correct starting procedures are being
followed ( →P. 239), consider each of the following points:
The engine will not start even thou gh the starter motor operates nor-
mally.
The starter motor turns over slowly , the interior lights and headlights
are dim, or the horn does not so und or sounds at a low volume.
The starter motor does not turn over
The starter motor does not turn over , the interior lights and headlights
do not turn on, or the horn does not sound.

Oil viscosity (0W-20 is explained here as an example):• The 0W in 0W-20 indicates the characteristic of the oil which allows cold startability. Oils with a lower value before the W allow for easier starting of
the engine in cold weather.
• The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosit y characteristic of the oil when the
oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher
value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or
under extreme load conditions.
How to read oil container labels:
Either or both API registered marks are added to some oil containers to help
you select the oil you should use.
API Service Symbol
Top portion: “API SERVICE SN”
means the oil quality designation by
American Petroleum Institute (API).
Center portion: “SAE 0W-20”
means the SAE viscosity grade.

oil. Warm up and turn off the engine, wait more than 5 minutes, and check the oil level
on the dipstick.
■Engine oil selection
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SAE 0W-20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline
Engines” is used in your Lexus vehicle. Use Lexus approved “Toyota Genuine
Motor Oil SAE 0W-20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline Engines” or equiva-
lent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade:
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil SAE 0W-20 for Downsized Turbo Gasoline
Engines” or API grade SL “Energy-Co nserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving” or
SN “Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
