If a warning light comes on, a warning message is displayed, or the 12-volt
battery is disconnected
The hybrid system may not start. In that case, try to start the system again. If
the “READY” indicator does not come on, contact any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Running out of fuel
When the vehicle has run out of fuel and the hybrid system cannot be started,
refuel the vehicle with at least enough gasoline to make the low fuel level
warning light (P. 833) go off. If there is only a small amount of fuel, the
hybrid system may not be able to start. (The minimum amount of fuel to add
to make the low fuel level warning light go out is about 9.9 L [2.6 gal., 2.2
Imp.gal.], when the vehicle is on a level surface. This value may vary when
the vehicle is on a slope.)
Electromagnetic waves
High voltage parts and cables on the hybrid vehicles incorporate electro-
magnetic shielding, and therefore emit approximately the same amount of
electromagnetic waves as conventional gasoline powered vehicles or home
electronic appliances.
Your vehicle may cause sound interference in some third party-produced
radio parts.
Hybrid battery (traction battery)
The hybrid battery (traction battery) has a limited service life. The lifespan of
the hybrid battery (traction battery) can change in accordance with driving
style and driving conditions.
Declaration of conformity
This model conforms to hydrogen emissions according to regulation ECE100
(Battery electric vehicle safety).

Warning lights and indicators
Instrument cluster
The units used on the speedometer may differ depending on the target
region.
Center panel
The warning lights and indicators on the instrument cluster, center
panel and outside rear view mirrors inform the driver of the status
of the vehicle’s various systems.
For the purpose of explanation, the following illustration displays
all warning lights and indicators illuminated.

hybrid system is on, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in

ified and equipped professional.
*2: The light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*3: The light comes on when the system is turned off. The light flashes faster
than usual to indicate that the system is operating.
*4: In order to confirm operation, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators
illuminate in the following situations:
• When the power switch is turned to ON mode while the BSM main
switch is set to ON.
• When the BSM main switch is set to ON while the power switch is in
ON mode.
If the system is functioning correctly, the BSM outside rear view mirror
indicators will turn off after a few seconds.
If the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators do not illuminate or do not
turn off, there may be a malfunction with the system.
If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer
or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
CAUTION
If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning light not
come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these sys-
tems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result
in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped profes-
sional immediately if this occurs.

System check display
After turning the power switch to ON mode, “SYSTEM CHECK” is dis-
played while system operation is checked.
Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be dis-
played, or the display may take longer than normal to change.
When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 20 km/h [12 mph])
When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit of
a garage, tunnel, etc.)
Setting display automatic cancelation
In the following situations, setting display in which the settings can be
changed through the “DISP” button will automatically be turned off.
When a warning message appears while the setting display is displayed
When the vehicle begins to move while the setting display is displayed
Tire inflation pressure (if equipped)
It may take a few minutes to display the tire inflation pressure after the
power switch is turned to ON mode. It may also take a few minutes to dis-
play the tire inflation pressure after inflation pressure has been adjusted.
“---” may be displayed if the tire position information cannot be determined
due to unfavorable radio wave conditions.
Tire inflation pressure changes with temperature. The displayed values may
also be different from the values measured using a tire pressure gauge.
Liquid crystal display
Small spots or light spots may appear on the display. This phenomenon is
characteristic of liquid crystal displays, and there is no problem continuing to
use the display.
Customization
Setting of available languages can be changed. (Customizable features: P.

When there is a malfunction in the system

NOTICE
When parking the vehicle
Before you leave the vehicle, set the parking brake, shift the shift lever to P
and make sure that the vehicle does not move.
When the system malfunctions
Stop the vehicle in a safe place and check the warning messages.
When the parking brake cannot be released due to a malfunction
Use the parking brake release tool to manually release the parking brake.

Driving the vehicle with the parking brake set will lead to brake compo-
nents overheating, which may affect braking performance and increase
brake wear.

Brake Hold
Turns the brake hold system on
The brake hold standby indicator
(green) comes on. While the sys-
tem is holding the brake, the brake
hold operated indicator (yellow)
comes on.
Brake hold system operating conditions
The brake hold system cannot be turned on in the following conditions:
The trunk or hood is not closed.
The driver’s door is not closed.
The driver is not wearing the seat belt.
If any of the conditions above are detected when the brake hold system is
enabled, the system will turn off and the brake hold standby indicator light
will go off. In addition, if any of the conditions are detected while the system
is holding the brake, a warning buzzer will sound and a message will be
shown on the multi-information display. The parking brake will then be set
automatically.
Brake hold function
If the brake pedal is left released for a period of about 3 minutes after the
system has started holding the brake, the parking brake will be set automat-
ically. In this case, a warning buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the
multi-information display.
To turn the system off while the system is holding the brake, firmly depress
the brake pedal and press the button again.
The brake hold system keeps the brake applied when the shift lever
is in D, S or N with the system on and the brake pedal has been
depressed to stop the vehicle. The system releases the brake when
the accelerator pedal is depressed with the shift lever in D or S to
allow smooth start off.
