■Defogging the windshield
Defoggers are used to defog the windshield and front side windows.
Press .
Set the outside/recirculated air mode button to outside air mode if the recirculated
air mode is used. (It may switch automatically.)
To defog the windshield and the side windows early, turn the air flow and tempera-
ture up.
To return to the previous mode, press again when the windshield is
defogged.
■Defogging the rear window and outside rear view mirrors
Defoggers are used to defog the rear window and to remove raindrops, dew
and frost from the outside rear view mirrors.
Press .
The defoggers will automatically turn off after 15 to 60 minutes. The operation
time changes according to the ambient temperature and vehicle speed.
■Windshield wiper de-icer (if equipped)
This feature is used to prevent ice fr om building up on the windshield and
wiper blades.
Select on the option control screen.
The windshield wiper de-icer will automa tically turn off after approximately 15
minutes
■Pollen removal mode
Pollen is removed from the air and the ai r flows to the upper part of the body.
Select on the option control screen. Usually the system will turn off automatically.
In order to prevent the windshield from fo gging up when the outside air is cold, the
dehumidification function may operate.
The pollens are filtered out even if the pollen removal mode is turned off.

WARNING
The engine compartment contains many mech anisms and fluids that may move suddenly,
become hot, or become electrically energize d. To avoid death or serious injury, observe
the following precautions.
■When working on the engine compartment
●Make sure that the “POWER ON” on the multi-information display and the
“READY” indicator are both off.
●Keep hands, clothing and tools away from the moving fan and engine drive belt.
●Be careful not to touch the engine, power co ntrol unit, radiator, exhaust manifold, etc.
right after driving as they may be hot. Oil and other fluids may also be hot.
●Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper and rags, in the engine
compartment.
●Do not smoke, cause sparks or expose an open flame to fuel. Fuel fumes are flamma-
ble.
●Take care because brake fluid can harm your hands or eyes and damage painted sur-
faces. If fluid gets on your hands or in your eyes, flush t he affected area with clean
water immediately. If you still experience discomfort, consult a doctor.
■When working near the electric cooling fans or radiator grille
Be sure the power switch is off.
With the power switch in ON mode, the electric cooling fans may automatically start to
run if the air conditioning is on and/or the coolant temperature is high. ( P. 411)
■Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc. from getting in
your eyes.
NOTICE
■If you remove the air cleaner filter
Driving with the air cleaner filter removed may cause excessive engine wear due to dirt
in the air.
■If the fluid level is low or high
It is normal for the brake fluid level to go down slightly as the brake pads wear or when
the fluid level in the accumulator is high.
If the reservoir needs frequent refillin g, it may indicate a serious problem.

■After changing the engine oil
The engine oil maintenance data should be reset. Perform the following procedures:
Press or of the meter control switch and select .

Press or of the meter control switch and select “Oil Maintenance”. Then press

Select the “Yes” and press .
A message is displayed on the multi-informa-
tion display.
WARNING
■Used engine oil
●Used engine oil contains potentially harm ful contaminants which may cause skin dis-
orders such as inflammation and skin cancer, so care should be taken to avoid pro-
longed and repeated contact. To remove used engine oil from your skin, wash
thoroughly with soap and water.
●Dispose of used oil and filters only in a safe and acceptable manner. Do not dispose of
used oil and filters in household trash, in sewers or onto the ground.
Call any authorized Lexus retailer or Le xus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer, service station or auto parts st ore for information concerning recycling or
disposal.
●Do not leave used engine oil within the reach of children.
NOTICE
■To prevent serious engine damage
Check the oil level on a regular basis.
■When replacing the engine oil
●Be careful not to spill engine oil on the vehicle components.
●Avoid overfilling, or the engine could be damaged.
●Check the oil level on the dipstick every time you refill the vehicle.
●Be sure the engine oil filler cap is properly tightened.

Air conditioning filter
Turn the power switch off.
Open the glove box. Lift up the side
with the stay, disconnect the stay
tabs and remove the partition by
pulling horizontally.
Press the tabs and remove the filter
cover.
Press the tabs and remove the filter
case.
The air conditioning filter must be changed regularly to maintain air condi-
tioning efficiency.

from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “
UP” marks shown on the filter
and the filter case should be pointing up.
■Changing interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filt er according to the maintenance schedule. In
dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, early replacement may be required. (For
scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the “Lexus Service Booklet” or
“Lexus Warranty Booklet”.)
■If air flow from the vents decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
■Air conditioning filter with deodorizing function
When fragrances are placed in your vehicle, the deodorizing effect may become signifi-
cantly weakened in a short period.
When an air conditioning odor comes out cont inuously, replace the air conditioning filter.

Indicates that the outside temperature is approximately 3 C (37 F) or lower
A buzzer also sounds.
Drive carefully, as the road may be icy.
Indicates that the engine oil is scheduled to be changed
Check the engine oil and change if necessary. After
changing the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( P. 406)
(The indicator will not work properly unless the oil
maintenance data has been reset.)
(If equipped)
Indicates that the fuel in jectors require maintenance
soon Have any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho-
rized repairer, or any reliable repairer replenish the
injector cleaner to the fuel tank and reset the mes-
sage as necessary.
Indicates that the engine oil and oil filter should be
changedHave the engine oil and oil filter checked and/or
changed by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. After
changing the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( P. 406)

Indicates that the fuel injectors require maintenance Have any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho-

authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer imme-
