When driving
■The windshield wiper and washer can be operated when
The engine switch is in “IG-ON” mode.
■Dripping prevention wiper sweep
After washing and wiping operation severa l
times, the wipers operate one more
time after a short delay to prevent dripping.
However, the last sweep will not happen if the vehicle is traveling above 106 mph
(1
70 km/h).
■Effects of vehicle speed on wiper operation
Vehicle speed affects the following even when the wipers are not in “AUTO” mode.
●Intermittent wiper interval (“INT” mode)
●Wiper operation when the washer is bein g used (delay until drip prevention
wiper sweep occurs)
With “LO” selected, wiper operation will be
switched from low speed to intermit-
tent wiper operation only when the vehicle is stationary.
■Rain drop sensor (vehicles equipped with the rain-sensing windshield wipers)
The sensor judges the amount of raindrops.

■If no windshield washer fluid sprays
Check that the washer nozzles are not blocked if there is washer fluid in the wind-
shield washer fluid reservoir.
■In extremely hot or cold weather
The system will turn off if the windshield gets extremely hot (at more than 176°F
[80°C]) or cold (at less than 14°F [-10°C]).
■Customization
Settings (e.g. drip prevention function) can be changed. (P. 5 2 6 )
CAUTION
■Caution regarding the use of windshield wipers in “AUTO” mode
The windshield wipers may operate unexpect edly if the sensor is touched or the
windshield is subject to vibration in “AUTO” mode. Take care that your fingers or
anything else do not become caught in the windshield wipers.
NOTICE
■When the windshield is dry
Do not use the wipers, as they may damage the windshield.
■When there is no washer fluid spray from the nozzle
Damage to the washer fluid pump may be caused if the lever is pulled toward you
and held continually.
■When using an automatic car wash 
(vehicles equipped with the rain-sensing windshield wipers)
Set the wiper switch to “OFF”. 
If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the wipers
may operate and the wiper blades may be
damaged.

NOTICE
■When the washer fluid tank is empty
Do not use this function when the washer fluid tank is empty. This may cause the
washer fluid pump to overheat.
Washer fluid can be sprayed on the headlights.
Press the switch to clean the
headlights.

■Automatically canceling vehicle-to-vehicle distance control
Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving is automatically canceled in the follow-
ing situations.
●Vehicle speed falls below 25 mph (40 km/h)
●VSC is activated
●The windshield wipers are operating at high speed
●The mode select switch is set to snow mode
●The sensor cannot operate correctly because it is covered in some way
Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving must be reset by turning the “ON-OFF”
button on again.
If vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving is automatically canceled for any other
reason, there may be a malfunction in the system. Contact your Lexus dealer.
■Automatically canceling constant speed control
The set speed is automatically canceled in the following situations.
●Actual vehicle speed is more than 10 mph (16 km/h) below the preset vehicle
speed
●Vehicle speed falls below 25 mph (40 km/h)
●VSC is activated
■Vehicle-to-vehicle distance settings
Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances shown correspond
to a vehicle speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance increases/
decreases in accordance with vehicle speed.

Regulations on the use of snow chains
●Regulations regarding the use of tire chains vary according to location
and type of road. Alwa ys check local regulations before installing
chains.
● Use S
AE Class “S” type radial tire chains, with the exception of radial
cable chains or V-bar type chains.
• Install the chains on the rear tires.
• Refer to the explanation that comes with the tir
e chains for installa-
tion instructions.
● R
etighten the chains after driving 1 /4 - 1 /2 mile (0.5 - 1.0 km).
Shifting the windshield wiper position
You can shift the wipers to the rest position manually. (In heavy snow or
icy condition etc.)
Grip the hook section of the wiper arm firmly when shif
ting the wiper
position.

Cleaning and protecting the vehicle exterior
■Automatic car washes
●Fold the mirrors back before washing the vehicle.
●Brushes used in automatic car washes may scratch the vehicle surface and
harm your vehicle’s paint.
●Rain-sensing windshield wipers (if equi pped): Turn the wipers off before wash-
ing the vehicle. ( P. 1 2 2 )
■High pressure automatic car washes
Do not allow the nozzles of the car wash to come within close proximity of the win -
dows. Before entering an automatic car wash, check that the fuel filler door is
cl
osed.
■Aluminum wheels
Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent. Do not use hard brushes
or
abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemical cleaners. Use the same
mild detergent and wax as used on the paint.
Perform the following to protect the vehicle and maintain it in prime condi-
tion.
● Working from top to bottom, liber ally apply water to the vehicle
body, wheel wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any dirt
and dust.
Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a chamois.
● For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thor-
oughly with water.
● W
ipe away any water.
●If w
ater no longer beads on clea n paint, apply wax when the vehi-
cle body is cool.
● W
ax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates. 
If water does not bead on a clea n sur
face, apply wax when the
