Washer fluidIf any washer does not work or the
warning message appears on the
multi-information display, the
washer tank may be empty. Add
washer fluid.
NOTICE
■When recharging the battery
Never recharge the battery while the engine is on. Also, be sure all accessories are
turned off.
CAUTION
■When refilling the washer fluid
Do not refill the washer fluid when the engine is hot or running, as the washer fluid
contains alcohol and may catch the fire if spilled on the engine etc.
NOTICE
■Do not use any fluid other than washer fluid
Do not use soapy water or engine antifreeze instead of washer fluid. 
Doing so may cause streaking on the vehicle’s painted surfaces.
■Diluting washer fluid
Dilute washer fluid with water as necessary. 
Refer to the freezing temperatures listed on the washer fluid tank.

Electronic key battery
Replace the battery with a new one if it is discharged.
■You will need the following items:
●Flathead screwdriver
● Small Phillips-head sc rewdriver
● Lithium battery (CR1632)
■ Replacing the battery
Take out the mechanical key.
Remove the cover.
Remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the “+”
terminal facing up.

■If the electronic key battery is discharged
The following symptoms may occur.
●The smart access system with push-button start and wireless remote control will
not function properly.
●The operational range is reduced.
■Use a CR1632 lithium battery
●Batteries can be purchased at your Lexus dealer, jewelers, or camera stores.
●Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by your Lexus
dealer.
●Dispose of used batteries according to the local laws.
CAUTION
■Removed battery and other parts
Keep away from children. 
These parts are small and if swallowed by a child they can cause choking.
NOTICE
■For normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents.
●Always work with dry hands. 
Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
●Do not touch or move any other comp onents inside the electronic key.
●Do not bend the battery terminals.

If the engine will not start
If the engine will not start even though correct starting procedures are
being followed (P. 121), consider each of the following points.
■The engine will not start even if you are carrying the correct elec-
tronic key
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank. 
Add fuel to the vehicle.
● The engine may be flooded. 
Try to restart the engine once more following correct starting
procedures. ( P. 121)
● There may be a malfunction in the immobilizer system. ( P. 7 3 )
■ The starter motor turns over slow ly, the interior lights and head-
lights are dim, or the horn does not sound or sounds at a low vol-
ume
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● The 12 volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 5 2 9 )
● The 12 volt battery terminal connections may be loose or corroded.
■ The starter motor does not turn over, the interior lights and head-
lights do not turn on, or the horn does not sound
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● One or both of the 12 volt battery terminals may be disconnected.
● The 12 volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 5 2 9 )
Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if
repair procedures are unknown.

If the electronic key does not operate properly
Locking and unlocking the doors, unlocking the trunk and key linked
functions
Doors Using the mechanical key in order
to perform the following opera-
tions:
Locks all doors
Closes the windows/moon roof
(turn and hold)
Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks
the driver’s door.
Turning the key once again unlocks
the other doors.
Opens the windows/moon roof
(turn and hold)
If communication between the electron ic key and vehicle is interrupted
(
P. 26) or the electronic key cannot be used because the battery is
depleted, the smart access system with push-button start and wireless
remote control cannot be used. In such cases, the doors and trunk can be
opened or the engine can be started by following the procedure below.

To change the “ENGINE START STOP” switch modes: Within 10
seconds of the buzzer sounding , release the brake pedal and
press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch. Modes can be
changed each time the switch is pressed. (
P. 122)
To start the engine: Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
within 10 seconds after the buzz er sounds, keeping the brake
pedal depressed.
If the “ENGINE START STOP” switch still cannot be operated, contact
your Lexus dealer.
■Stopping the engine
Shift the shift lever to “P” and press th e “ENGINE START STOP” switch as you nor-
mally do when stopping the engine.
■Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is the temporary measure, it is recommended that the
electronic key battery be replaced i mmediately when the battery depletes.

If the 12 volt battery is discharged
The following procedures may be used to start the engine if the 12 volt bat-
tery is discharged. 
You can call your Lexus dealer or qualified repair shop.
If you have a set of jumper (or booster) cables and a second vehicle
with a 12 volt battery, you can jump start your Lexus following the steps
below.
Open the door using the mechani cal key, then open the hood.
GS350: Remove the engine compartment covers.
Connecting the jumper cables.

Positive (+) battery terminal on your vehicle.
Positive (+) battery terminal on the second vehicle.
Negative (-) battery terminal on the second vehicle.
Connect the jumper cable to ground on your vehicle as shown. Start the engine of the second vehicle. Increase the engine
speed slightly and maintain at that level for approximately 5
minutes to recharge the 12 volt battery of your vehicle.
Open and close any of the do ors with the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch is OFF.
