Move the inside lock button to the lock position.
Close the door.
The door cannot be locked if the engine switch is in ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode, or the electronic key is left inside the vehicle.
The key may not be detected correc tly and the door may be locked.

CAUTION
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failure to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant throwing out of the
vehicle, resulting in death or serious injury.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed and locked.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving.
Be especially careful for the front doors, as the doors may be opened even if the
inside lock buttons are in locked position.
●Set the rear door child-protector locks when children are seated in the rear seats.

The trunk lid can be opened by pulling the
glow-in-the-dark lever located on the inside
of the trunk lid to the side.
The lever will continue
to glow for some time
after the trunk lid is closed.
CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Before driving
●Make sure that the trunk lid is fully closed. If the trunk lid is not fully closed, it may
open unexpectedly while driving and hit near-by objects or luggage in the trunk
may be thrown out, causing an accident.
●Do not allow children to play in the trunk.
If a child is accidentally locked in the tr unk, they could suffer from heat exhaus-
tion, suffocation or other injuries.
●Do not allow a child to open or close the trunk lid.
Doing so may cause the trunk lid to open unexpectedly, or cause the child’s
hands, head, or neck to be caught by the closing trunk lid.
■Important points while driving
Never let anyone sit in the trunk. In the event of sudden braking or a collision, they
are susceptible to deat h or serious injury.

CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all the powe r window operations, including the oper-
ation for the passengers. In order to prev ent accidental operation, especially by a
child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is possible for children and
other passengers to have body parts caught in the power window. Also, when
riding with a child, it is recommended to use the window lock switch. ( P. 1 5 1 )
●Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught when a window is being operated.
●When using the mechanical key and operating the power windows, operate the
power window after checking to make sure that there is no possibility of any pas-
senger having any of their body parts caugh t in the window. Also do not let a child
operate window by the mechanical key. It is possible for children and other pas-
sengers to get caught in the power window.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the
vehicle along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief,
etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to inte ntionally activate the jam protection func-
tion.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before
the window fully closes.

■Moon roof open warning buzzer
The buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display in the
instrument cluster wh en the engine switch is turned off and the driver’s door is
opened with the moon roof open.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. linked door lock operation) can be changed.

■Opening the moon roof
●Do not allow any passengers to put thei r hands or heads outside the vehicle while
it is moving.
●Do not sit on top of the moon roof.
■Closing the moon roof
●The driver is responsible for moon roof opening and closing operations.
In order to prevent accidental operation, especially by a child, do not let a child
operate the moon roof. It is possible for children and other passengers to have
body parts caught in the moon roof.
●Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught wh en the moon roof is being operated.
●When using the mechanical key and oper ating the moon roof, operate the moon
roof after checking to make sure that there is no possibility of any passenger hav-
ing any of their body parts caught in the moon roof. Also, do not let a child oper-
ate moon roof by the mechanical key. It is possible for children and other
passengers to get caught in the moon roof.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the
vehicle along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief,
etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to inte ntionally activate the jam protection func-
tion.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before
the moon roof fully closes.

Interior features
■When the switch is disabled (vehicles with rear control panel)
When the rear control panel switch cannot be operated even though the button lock
function is released, check whether the switch is disabled due to selecting
on Remote Touch screen. (P. 3 1 4 )
■Rear control panel illumination off function (vehicles with rear control panel)
Control panel illumination on the rear armrest can be turned off. ( P. 325)
■Customization
The automatic mode settings for the front seat heaters and ventilators or the rear
seat heaters can be changed. (Customizable features: P. 5 6 1 )
CAUTION
■Burns
●Use caution when seating the following pers ons in a seat with the seat heater on
to avoid the possibility of burns:
• Babies, small children, the elderly, the sick and the physically challenged
• Persons with sensitive skin
• Persons who are fatigued
• Persons who have taken alcohol or drugs that induce sleep (sleeping drugs, cold remedies, etc.)
●Do not cover the seat with anything when using the seat heater.
Using the seat heater with a blanket or cushion increases the temperature of the
seat and may lead to overheating.
●Do not use seat heater more than necessary. Doing so may cause minor burns or
overheating.

Maintenance and care
■After recharging/reconnecting the battery
The engine may not start. Follow the procedure below to initialize the system.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Open and close any of the doors.
Restart the engine.
●Unlocking the doors using the smart access system with push-button start may not
be possible immediately after reconnecting the battery. If this happens, use the
wireless remote control or the mechanical key to lock/unlock the doors.
●Start the engine with the engine switch in ACCESSORY mode. The engine may
not start with the engine switch turned off. However, the engine will operate nor-
mally from the second attempt.
●The engine switch mode is recorded by the vehicle. If the battery is reconnected,
the vehicle will return the engine switch mo de to the status it was in before the bat-
tery was disconnected. Make sure to turn off the engine before disconnect the bat-
tery. Take extra care when connecting the ba ttery if the engine switch mode prior
to discharge is unknown.
If the engine will not start even after mult iple attempts at both methods, contact your
Lexus dealer.
CAUTION
■Chemicals in the battery
Batteries contain poisonous and corrosive sulfuric acid and may produce hydro-
gen gas which is flammable and explosive. To reduce the risk of death or serious
injury, take the following precautions while working on or near the battery:
●Do not cause sparks by touching the battery terminals with tools.
●Do not smoke or light a match near the battery.
●Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothes.
●Never inhale or swallow electrolyte.
●Wear protective safety glasses when working near the battery.
●Keep children away from the battery.

●Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when
the lock is set. Open the rear door from outside and then
unlock the child-protector lock. ( P. 1 2 4 )
●The function to prevent the electronic key from being left inside
the trunk will operate and you ca n open the trunk as usual. Take
the key out from the trunk. ( P. 1 0 8 )
