â– Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly
â—ŹIn the following cases, the
tire pressure warning system may not operate properly.
• If non-genuine Lexus wheels are used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not of the specified size.
• Tire chains etc. are equipped.
• An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is equipped.
• If a window tint that affects th e radio wave signals is installed.
• If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehi cle, particularly around the wheels or wheel
housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is extr emely higher than the specified level.
• If wheel without the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter are used.
• If the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not registered
in the tire pressure warning computer.
â—ŹPerformance may be affected in the following situations.
• Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large display, air-
port or other facility that generates st rong radio waves or electrical noise
• When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other wireless
communication device
If tire position information is not correctly displayed due to the radio wave conditions,
the display may be corrected by driving and changing the radio wave conditions.
â—ŹWhen the vehicle is parked, the time taken for the warning to start or go off could be
extended.
â—ŹWhen tire inflation pressure declines rapidly for example when a tire has burst, the
warning may not function.
â– The initialization operation
â—ŹMake sure to carry out initialization afte r adjusting the tire inflation pressure.
Also, make sure the tires are cold before carryi ng out initialization or tire inflation pres-
sure adjustment.
â—ŹIf you have accidentally turned the engine swit ch off during initialization, it is not neces-
sary to manually restart the in itialization again, as initialization will restart automatically
the next time the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.
â—ŹIf you accidentally perform initialization when initialization is not necessary, adjust the
tire inflation pressure to the specified leve l when the tires are cold, and conduct initial-
ization again.
â– When initialization of the tire pressure warning system has failed
Initialization can be completed in a few minutes. However, in the following cases, the set-
tings have not been recorded and the system will not operate properly. If repeated
attempts to record tire inflation pressure settings are unsuccessful, have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer.
â—ŹThe initialization message is not displayed on the multi-information display when per-
forming initialization.
â—ŹAfter carrying out the initializat ion procedure, the tire pressure warning light blinks for 1
minute then stays on after driving for 20 minutes.

Do not use tires if you do not know how they were used previously.
â—ŹVehicles with spare tire: Do not tow if your vehicle has a spare tire installed.
â—ŹVehicles with emergency tire puncture repair kit: Do not tow anything if a tire that has
been repaired using the emergency tire punc ture repair kit is installed. The load on
the tire may cause unexpected damage to the tire.
â– When initializing the tire pressure warning system
Do not initialize tire inflatio n pressure without first adjustin g the tire inflation pressure to
the specified level. Otherwise, the tire pre ssure warning light may not come on even if
the tire inflation pressure is low, or it ma y come on when the tire inflation pressure is
actually normal.
â– Caution regarding interference with electronic devices
â—ŹUsers of any electrical medical device ot her than implantable cardiac pacemakers,
cardiac resynchronization th erapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibril-
lators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its opera-
tion under the influence of radio waves.
Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medical
devices.

Wheels
When replacing wheels, care should be ta
ken to ensure that they are equivalent
to those removed in load capacity, diameter, rim width and inset
*.
Replacement wheels are available at your Lexus dealer.
*: Conventionally referred to as “offset”.
Lexus does not recommend using the following:
â—ŹWheels of different sizes or types
â—ŹUsed wheels
â—ŹBent wheels that have been straightened
â—ŹSteel wheels (2WD F SPORT models only)
â—ŹUse only Lexus wheel nuts and wrenches designed for use with your alumi-
num wheels.
â—ŹWhen rotating, repairing or changing your tires, check that the wheel nuts are
still tight after driving 1000 miles (1600 km).
â—ŹBe careful not to damage the aluminum wheels when using tire chains.
â—ŹUse only Lexus genuine balance weights or equivalent and a plastic or rubber
hammer when balancing your wheels.
â– When replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmit-
ters that allow the tire pressure warning system to provide advance warning in the event
of a loss in tire inflation pressure. Whenever wheels are replaced, tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters must be installed. (→P. 394)
If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavily corroded, it should be replaced. Other-
wise, the tire may separate from the wheel or cause a loss of handling control.
