1-1. Hybrid system

Before driving
■If a warning light comes on or a warning message is displayed, or the 12 volt bat-
tery is disconnected
The hybrid system may not start. In that case, try to start the sy stem again. If the
“READY” light does not come on, contact your Lexus dealer.
CAUTION
■High voltage precautions
The vehicle has high voltage DC and AC systems as well as a 12 volt system. DC
and AC high voltage is very dangerous and can cause severe burns and electric
shock that may result in death or serious injury.
●Never touch, disassemble, remove or replace the high voltage parts, cables and
their connectors.
●The hybrid system will become hot after starting as the system uses high voltage.
Be careful of both the high voltage and the high temperature, and always obey
the caution labels attached to the vehicle.
●Never try to open the service plug acce ss hole located in the luggage compart-
ment. The service plug is used only when the vehicle is serviced and is subject to
high voltage.

Indicators and warning lights
The indicator and warning lights on the instrument cluster and center
panel inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s various systems.
Instrument cluster
The units used on the speedometer and some indicators may differ depend-
ing on the target region.

CAUTION
■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as ABS and the SRS airbag warning light not
come on when you turn to “IG-ON” mode, this could mean that these systems are
not available to help protect you in an accid ent, which could result in death or seri-
ous injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately if this
occurs.
■ Warning lights
Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in the indicated
vehicle’s systems. ( P. 4 3 0 )
*: These lights turn on when the power switch is turned to “IG-ON” mode
to indicate that a system check is being performed. They will turn off
after the hybrid system is on, or af ter a few seconds. There may be a mal -
function in a system if the lights do not come on, or turn off. Have the
vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

2-4. Using other driving systems
Example of follow-up cruising (when following a vehicle driving slower
than the set speed): When the speed is set to 62 mph (100 km/h) and
the v
ehicle ahead is driv ing at 50 mph (80 km/h)
The system continues follow-up cruising while adjusting for changes in the
speed of the vehicle ahead in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle dis -
tance set by the driver.
Example of acceleration (when ther e are no longer vehicles driving
slower than the set speed in the lane ahead): When the speed is set to

2 mph (100 km/h) and the vehicle ahead driving at 50 mph (80 km/
h) is out of the lane
When the vehicle ahead of you executes a lane change, the system slowly
accelerates until the set vehicle speed is reached. The system then returns to
fixed speed cruising.
■Dynamic radar cruise control warn ing lights, messages and buzzers
Warning lights, messages and buzzers are us ed to in
dicate a system malfunction or
to alert you to the need for caution while driving. ( P. 4 4 0 )
■The dynamic radar cruise can be set when
●The shift lever is in “D” or the “4”, “5” or “6” range of “S”.
●Vehicle speed is between approximately 27 mph (43 km/h) and 87 mph (139
km/h).
■Accelerating
The vehicle can be accelerated normally. After acceleration, the set speed

esumes.

CAUTION
■The hill-start assist control may not operate effectively when
●On steep inclines.
●On icy surfaces.
■When the VSC is activated
The slip indicator light flashes and a warning buzzer sounds. Always drive carefully.
Reckless driving may cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indica-
tor light flashes and a buzzer sounds.
■Replacing tires
Make sure that all tires are of the same size, brand, tread pattern and total load
capacity. In addition, make sure that the ti res are inflated to the specified tire pres-
sure level.
The ABS and VSC will not function correctly if different tires are fitted on the vehi-
cle. 
Contact your Lexus dealer for further info rmation when replacing tires or wheels.
■Handling of tires and suspension
Using tires with any kind of problem or modifying the suspension will affect the
VDIM, and may cause the system to malfunction.
