If you have a flat tire (Vehicles with run-flat tires)
■In some condition (such as at high temperatures)
You can not continue driving for up to 100 miles (160 km).
■If you cannot distinguish between th e standard tires and run-flat tires
Consult your Lexus dealer.

NOTICE
■When replacing the tires
Have the tires replaced by the nearest Lexus dealer or authorized tire dealer. The
tire pressure warning valves and transmitters will be affected by the installation or
removal of tires.
■To avoid damaging the tire pressu re warning valves and transmitters
Do not use liquid sealants on flat tires.
Take your vehicle to the nearest Lexus dealer or authorized tire dealer as
soon as possible.
■ Run-flat tires (A “RFT” or “DSST” mark is molded on the sidewall)
You can continue driving a vehi-
cle with run-flat tires even if any
tire goes flat.
It is able to run for a maximum of

If the hybrid system will not start
If the hybrid system will not start even though correct starting procedures
are being followed (
P. 138), consider each of the following points.
■The hybrid system will not start ev en if you are carrying the cor-
rect electronic key
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● The electronic key battery may be discharged. ( P. 5 3 1 )
● There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank. 
Add fuel to the vehicle.
● There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
● There may be a malfunction in the immobilizer system. 
( P. 88)
■ The interior lights and headlights are dim, or the horn does not
sound or sounds at a low volume
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● The 12 volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 5 3 4 )
● The 12 volt battery terminal connections may be loose or cor-
roded.
■ The interior lights and headlights do not turn on, or the horn does
not sound
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
●One or both of the 12 volt battery terminals may be discon-
nected.
● The 12 volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 5 3 4 )
Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if
repair procedures are unknown.

Positive (+) battery terminal on your vehicle.
Positive (+) battery terminal on the second vehicle.
Negative (-) battery terminal on the second vehicle.
Negative (-) battery terminal on your vehicle.
Start the engine of the second vehicle. Increase the engine
speed slightly and maintain at that level for approximately 5
minutes to recharge the 12 volt battery of your vehicle.
Open and close any of the door s with the “POWER” switch is
OFF.
Maintain the engine speed on th e second vehicle and turn the
“POWER” switch to the ON mo de, then start the vehicle’s
hybrid system.
Make sure the “READY” light co mes on. If the light does not
come on, contact your Lexus dealer.
Once the vehicle’s hybrid system has started, remove the
jumper cables in the exact reverse order in which they were
connected.
Once the hybrid system starts, have the vehicle checked at your Lexus
dealer as soon as possible.

■Starting the hybrid system when the 12 volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by push-starting.
■To prevent 12 volt battery discharge
●Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the hybrid system is off.
●Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic, etc.
■When the 12 volt battery is removed or discharged
The hybrid system may not start. ( P. 4 3 1 )
Also, the following systems must be initialized.
●Tire pressure warning system (P. 4 3 6 )
●Intuitive parking assist (P. 5 1 2 )
CAUTION
■Avoiding battery fires or explosions
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidentally igniting the flammable
gas that may be emitted from the battery.
●Make sure the jumper cable is connected to the correct terminal and that it is not
unintentionally in contact with any pa rt other than the intended terminal.
●Do not allow the jumper cables to come into contact with the “+” and “-” termi-
nals.
●Do not allow open flame or use matches, cigarette lighters or smoke near the
battery.

Fuel information
■Fuel tank opening for unleaded gasoline
To help prevent incorrect fueling, your Lexus has a fuel tank opening that only
accommodates the special nozzle on unleaded fuel pumps.
■If premium gasoline is not available
If 91 Octane cannot be obtained, you may use unleaded gasoline with an Octane
Rating as low as 87 (Research Octane Number 91). 
However, use of unleaded fuel with an Octane Rating lower than 91 may result in
engine knocking or drastically reduce output to protect itself while driving with a
heavy load. Persistent knocking can lead to engine damage and should be cor-
rected by refueling with higher octane unleaded gasoline.
■If your engine knocks
●Consult your Lexus dealer.
●You may occasionally notice light knocking for a short time while accelerating
or driving uphill. This is normal and there is no need for concern.
■Gasoline quality
In very few cases, driveability problems may be caused by the brand of gasoline you
are using. If driveability problems persist, try changing the brand of gasoline. If this
does not correct the problem, consult your Lexus dealer.
Your vehicle must use on ly unleaded gasoline.
Premium unleaded gasoline with an Octane Rating 91 (Research Octane
Number 96) or higher required for optimum engine performance.
At minimum, the gasoline you use should meet the specifications of
ASTM D4814 in the U.S.A. an d CGSB3.5-M93 in Canada.
