Locking the driver’s door from the outside without a keyMove the lock button to the lock position.
Close the door.
The door cannot be locked if the “POWER” switch is in the ACCES-
SORY or ON mode, or the electro nic key is left inside the vehicle.
The key may not be detected correctly and the door may be locked.
Rear door child-protector lock
The door cannot be opened from
inside the vehicle when the locks
are set.
These locks can be set to prevent
children from opening the rear
doors. Push down rear door
switches to lock the rear doors.

Automatic door locking and unlocking systemsThe following functions can be set or canceled:
■ Setting and canceling the functions
To switch between setting and canceling, follow the procedure below:
Close all the doors and switch the “POWER” switch to ON
mode. (Perform step 2 within 10 seconds.)
Shift the shift lever to “P” or “N”,
press and hold the driver’s door
lock switch (
or ) for approxi-
mately 5 seconds then release.

corresponding to the desired func-
tion to be set or canceled are

When the setting or canceling operation is complete, all doors are locked
and then unlocked.

■Closing the front doors from outside with the inside lock button set in the locked
position
The door cannot be locked if the “POWER” switch is in ACCESSORY or ON
mode, or the electronic key is left in the vehicle. (However, depending on the key’s
location, the system may not be able to de tect it. In these instances the door lock
protection function will not operate properly.)
■Using the mechanical key
The doors can also be locked and unlocked with the mechanical key. ( P. 5 3 1 )
■Customization that can be configured at Lexus dealer
Settings (e.g. unlocking function using a key) can be changed.

CAUTION
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failing to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant falling out, resulting in
death or serious injury.
●Always use a seat belt.
●Always lock all doors.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the front door while driving.
The doors will open even if it is locked.
●Set the rear door child protector locks when children are seated in the rear seat.

Canceling the trunk opener feature
Turn the main switch in the glove
box OFF to disable the trunk

In the event that the trunk lid is left slightly open (not latched properly), the trunk
easy closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position.
■Tr u n k l i g h t
When the trunk light switch is set to ON, the trunk light turns on when the trunk is
opened.

■Using the mechanical key
The trunk can be also opened using the mechanical key. ( P. 5 3 1 )

Use the trunk handle when closing the trunk.
The trunk lid can be opened by pulling down
on the glow-in-the-dark lever located on the
inside of trunk lid.
The lever will continue to glow for some time
after the trunk lid is closed.

CAUTION
■While driving
Keep the trunk lid closed.
This not only keeps personal belongings from being thrown out, but also prevents
exhaust gases from entering the vehicle.
■When children are in the vehicle
●Never leave children unattended in the vehicle as they may lock themselves in the
vehicle or trunk, which could cause the child to overheat or suffocate, resulting in
death or serious injury.
●Do not allow a child to open or close th e trunk lid. Doing so may cause the trunk
lid to operate unexpectedly and part of the child’s body may become caught.
■Tr u n k e a s y c l o s e r
When the trunk lid is not completely closed, the trunk ea sy closer will automatically
close it. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else in the trunk lid. Failure to do
so may result in serious injury.
NOTICE
■To avoid damage to the trunk easy closer
Do not apply force when the closer is operating.

CAUTION
■Reclining adjustment
Do not recline the seat more than necessary when the vehicle is in motion, to
reduce the risk of sliding under the lap belt.
If the seat is too reclined, during an accident the lap belt may slide past the hips and
apply restraint forces directly to the abdomen or your neck may contact the shoul-
der belt, increasing the risk of death or serious injury.

Driving position memory system (if equipped)
Your preferred driving position (the po sition of the driver’s seat, steering
wheel and outside rear view mirrors) can be entered into the computer’s
memory and recalled with the touch of a bu tton. It is also possible to set this
function to activate automatically when the doors are unlocked.
Three different driving positions can be entered into memory.
The same buttons are found on the fr ont passenger’s side, allowing the
position of the front passenger’s seat to be memorized.
■ Entering a position to memory
Check that the shift lever is set in “P”.
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode.
Adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and outside rear view
mirrors to the desired positions.
While pushing the “SET” button,
push button “1”, “2” or “3” until
the signal beeps.
If the selected button has
already been preset, the previ-
ously recorded position will be
overwritten.
