Maintenance and care
CAUTION
■When washing the vehicle
Do not apply water to the inside of the engine compartment. Doing so may cause the
electrical components etc. to catch fire.
■When cleaning the windshield (vehicles with rain-sensing windshield wiper)
●When the upper part of the windshield where the raindrop sensor is located is
touched by hand
●When a wet rag or similar is held close to the raindrop sensor
●If something bumps against the windshield
●If you directly touch the raindrop sensor bo dy or if something bumps into the raindrop
sensor
■Precautions regarding the exhaust pipe
Exhaust gasses cause the exhaust pipe to become quite hot.
When washing the vehicle, be careful not to touch the pipe until it has cooled suffi-
ciently, as touching a hot exhaust pipe can cause burns.
■Precautions regarding the Blind Spot Monitor (if equipped)
If the paint of the rear bumper is chipped or scratched, the system may malfunction.
If this occurs, consult your Lexus dealer.
Set the wiper switch to off.
If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the wipers may
operate unexpectedly in the following situa-
tions, and may result in hands being caught or
other serious injuries and cause damage to the
wiper blades.OFF

NOTICE
■Preventing damage to leather surfaces
Observe the following precautions to avoid damage to and deterioration of leather
surfaces:
●Remove any dust or dirt from leather surfaces immediately.
●Do not expose the vehicle to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Park the
vehicle in the shade, especially during summer.
●Do not place items made of vinyl, plastic, or containing wax on the upholstery, as they
may stick to the leather surface if the vehicle interior heats up significantly.
■When cleaning the inside of the windshield (vehicles with LDA [Lane Departure
Alert])
Be careful not to touch the camera sensor (→P. 2 2 8 ) .
If the camera is accidentally scratched or hit, LDA may not operate properly or may
cause a malfunction.
■Water on the floor
Do not wash the vehicle floor with water.
Vehicle systems such as the audio system may be damaged if water comes into contact
with electrical components such as the audio system above or under the floor of the
vehicle. Water may also cause the body to rust.
■Cleaning the inside of the rear window
●Do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window, as this may cause damage to the
rear window defogger heater wires or antenna. Use a cloth dampened with luke-
warm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe the window in strokes running
parallel to the heater wires or antenna.
●Be careful not to scratch or damage the heater wires or antenna.

The driver’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver that his or her seat belt is not
fastened. Once the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode, the buzzer
sounds for 6 seconds. If the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), the buzzer
sounds once. If the seat belt is still unfast ened after 30 seconds, the buzzer will sound
intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will
sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.
The front passenger’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the front passenger that his or
her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds once if the vehicle reaches a speed of
12 mph (20 km/h). If the seat belt is still unfastened after 30 seconds, the buzzer will
sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer
will sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.
■SRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front airbag sensors, side
and curtain shield airbag sensors, rear side and curtain shield airbag sensors, floor sen-
sor, driver’s seat belt buckle switch, front passenger occupant classification system (ECU
and sensors), “AIR BAG ON” indicator light, “AIR BAG OFF” indicator light, front pas-
senger’s seat belt buckle switch, seat belt pretensioner assemblies, airbags, intercon-
necting wiring and power sources. ( →P. 3 4 )
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensor
may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn-
ing light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
First check the following:
●Is the fuel tank empty?
If it is, fill the fuel tank immediately.
●Is the fuel tank cap loose?
If it is, tighten it securely.
The light will go off after several driving trips.
If the light does not go off even after several trips, contact your Lexus dealer as soon as
possible.
■If the low speed four-wheel drive indicator light or the center differential lock indicator
light blinks
Take the specified steps. ( →P. 3 3 2 )

Indicates that one or more of the doors is not fully closedThe system also indicates which doors are not fully
closed.
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate that
the door(s) are not yet fully closed.
→ Make sure that all the doors are closed.
Indicates that the glass hatch is not fully closed
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate that
the glass hatch is not yet fully closed.
→ Close the glass hatch.
(If equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the Intuitive parking assist
All assist-sensors flash.
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
(If equipped)
Indicates that a intuitive parking assist is dirty or covered
with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Clean the sensor.
(Flashes)
Indicates that the vehicle is being driven at 3 mph (5
km/h) or more with the parking brake still engaged
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Release the parking brake.

When trouble arises
(If equipped)
Indicates that the radar sensor is dirty or covered with
ice A buzzer also sounds.
→ Clean the sensor.
(If equipped)
Indicates that the radar cruise control system is unable to
judge vehicle-to-vehicle distance
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Turn off snow mode.
If the windshield wipers are on, turn them off or set
them to a mode other than AUTO or high speed
wiper operation.
(If equipped)
Indicates that the LDA (Lane Departure Alert) system is
suspended
The camera sensor temperature is higher than the
operation temperature range.
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Restart the LDA after driving for a while.
(If equipped)
Indicates that a Blind Spot Monitor sensor or the sur-
rounding area on the bumper is dirty or covered with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Clean the sensor and its surrounding area on the
bumper.
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The cruise control system (if equipped); or
• The dynamic radar cruise control system (if equipped)
Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the
system, and then press the button again to reactivate
the system.
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

functional because the grille cover or the sensor is dirty
→ Check the grille cover and the sensor and clean
them if they are dirty.

Indicates a malfunction in the rear height control air sus-
pension
A buzzer also sounds.
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact your Lexus dealer.
(U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance according to the driven
distance on the maintenance schedule
* should be per-
formed soon.
Comes on approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after
the maintenance data has been reset.
→ If necessary, perform maintenance.
(U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance is required to correspond
to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule*.
Comes on approximately 5000 miles (8000 km) after
the maintenance data has been reset. (The indicator will
not work properly unless the maintenance data has been

As the engine needs to be running during customization, ensure that the vehicle is
parked in a place with adequate ventilation. In a closed area such as a garage, exhaust
gases including harmful carbon monoxide (CO) may collect and enter the vehicle. This
may lead to death or a serious health hazard.

The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be operated

●The auto power off function will be operated if the vehicle is left in ACCES-
SORY or IGNITION ON mode (the engine is not running) for a period of
