CAUTION
■Trailer Sway Control precaution
The Trailer Sway Control system is not able to reduce trailer sway in all situations.
Depending on many factors such as the condit
ions of the vehicle, trailer, road surface,
and driving environment, the Trailer Sway Co ntrol system may not be effective. Refer to
your trailer owner’s manual for information on how to tow your trailer properly.
■If trailer sway occurs
Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may caus e death or serious injury.
●Firmly grip the steering wh eel. Steer straight ahead.
Do not try to control trailer swaying by turning the steering wheel.
●Begin releasing the accelera tor pedal immediately but very gradually to reduce
speed.
Do not increase speed. Do not apply vehicle brakes.
If you make no extreme correction with the steering or brakes, your vehicle and trailer
should stabilize. ( P. 1 76 )

Driving
■The Blind Spot Monitor function is operational when
●The Blind Spot Monitor system turned on.
●Vehicle speed is greater than approximately 10 mph (16 km/h).
■The Blind Spot Monitor function will detect a vehicle when
●A vehicle in an adjacent lane overtakes your vehicle.
●Another vehicle enters the detection area when it changes lanes.
■Conditions under which the Blind Spot Monitor function will not detect a vehicle
The Blind Spot Monitor function is not designed to detect the following types of vehicles
and/or objects:
●Small motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians etc.*
●Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction
●Guardrails, walls, signs, parked vehicles and similar stationary objects*
●Following vehicles that are in the same lane*
●Vehicles driving 2 lanes across from your vehicle*

: Depending on conditions, detection of a vehicle and/or object may occur.
■Conditions under which the Bl ind Spot Monitor function may not function correctly
●The Blind Spot Monitor function may not dete ct vehicles correctly in the following con-
ditions:
• During bad weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow etc.
• When ice or mud etc. is attached to the rear bumper
• When driving on a road surface that is wet due to rain, standing water etc.
• When there is a significant difference in speed between your vehicle and the vehicle that enters the detection area
• When a vehicle is in the detection area from a stop and remains in the detection
area as your vehicle accelerates
• When driving up or down consecutive steep inclines, such as hills, a dip in the road
etc.
• When multiple vehicles approach with only a small gap between each vehicle
• When vehicle lanes are wide, and the vehicle in the next lane is too far away from
your vehicle
• When the vehicle that enters the detection area is traveling at about the same speed as your vehicle
• When there is a significant difference in height between your vehicle and the vehicle
that enters the detection area
• Directly after the Blind Spot Monitor system turned on
• When your vehicle is towing a trailer
●Instances of the Blind Spot Monitor function unnecessarily detecting a vehicle and/or
object may increase under the following conditions:
• When there is only a short distance between your vehicle and a guardrail, wall etc.
• When there is only a short distance between your vehicle and a following vehicle
• When vehicle lanes are narrow and a vehicle driving 2 lanes across from your vehi-
cle enters the detection area
• When items such as a bicycle carrier ar e installed on the rear of the vehicle

■Conditions under which the Rear Cross Traffi
c Alert function will not detect a vehicle
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function is no t designed to detect the following types of
vehicles and/or objects.
●Small motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians etc.*
●Vehicles approaching from directly behind
●Guardrails, walls, signs, parked vehi cles and similar stationary objects*
●Vehicles moving away from your vehicle
●Vehicles approaching from the parking spaces next to your vehicle*
●Vehicles backing up in the parking space next to your vehicle*

■Conditions under which the Rear Cross Traf fic Alert function may not function cor-
rectly
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function may not detect vehicles correctly in the following
conditions:
●During bad weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow etc.
●When ice or mud etc. is attached to the rear bumper
●When multiple vehicles approach continuously
●Shallow angle parking
●When a vehicle is approaching at high speed
●When parking on a steep incline, su ch as hills, a dip in the road etc.
●Directly after the Blind Spot Monitor system turned on
●When your vehicle is towing a trailer
●When items such as a bicycle carrier are installed on the rear of the vehicle
●Directly after the engine is started with the BSM main switch on
●When the sensors cannot detect vehicles
because of obstacles

Pre-collision system warning light Indicates a malfunction in the pre-collision system
The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system is
not malfunctioning:
• The light will flash quickly when the system is operating.
( P. 3 5 7 )
• The light will turn on when the pre-collision braking is disabled. ( P. 3 5 8 )
• The light will turn on when the system cannot temporarily be used. ( P. 5 2 0 )
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The Multi-terrain Select (if equipped);
• The Crawl Control (if equipped);
• The downhill assist control system (if equipped);
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRAC (Traction Control) system;
• Active TRAC (Traction Control) system;
• Trailer Sway Control; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when any of the above systems other than the
Multi-terrain Select are operating.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
LED headlight warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the LED headlights
The LED headlights will not normally illuminate when there is a
malfunction, however it may be able to illuminate depending on the
nature of the problem.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

Automatic headlight leveling system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the au tomatic headlight leveling system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Kinetic dynamic suspension system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the kin etic dynamic suspension system.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

Low speed four-wheel drive indicator light
Indicates a malfunction in the four -wheel drive system if the light
continues flashing. ( P. 3 3 2 )

When trouble arises
7-2. Steps to take in an emergency
If the vehicle becomes stuck
Stop the engine. Set the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P.
Remove the mud, snow or sand from around the stuck tire.
Place wood, stones or some other material under the tires to help provide
traction.
Restart the engine.
Lock the center differential. (P. 3 3 3 )
Shift the shift lever to the D or R position and release the parking brake. Then,
while exercising caution, depress the accelerator pedal.
■When it is difficult to free the vehicle
Turn off TRAC or Active TRAC/VSC/Trailer Sway Control if these functions are ham-
pering your attempts to free the vehicle. ( P. 3 4 3 )
Carry out the following procedures if the tires spin or the vehicle becomes
stuck in mud, dirt, or snow:
Press to turn off TRAC or Active TRAC/VSC/
Trailer Sway Control.
