When trouble arises
CAUTION
■Using the tire jack
Improper use of the tire jack may cause the vehicle to suddenly fall off the jack, leading
to death or serious injury.
●Do not use the tire jack for any purpose ot her than replacing tires or installing and
removing tire chains.
●Only use the tire jack that comes with this vehicle for replacing a flat tire.
Do not use it on other vehicles, and do not use other tire jacks for replacing tires on
this vehicle.
●Always check that the tire jack is securely set to the jack point.
●Do not put any part of your body under the vehicle while it is supported by the jack.
●Do not start or run the engine while your vehicle is supported by the jack.
●Do not raise the vehicle while someone is inside.
●When raising the vehicle, do not put an object on or under the jack.
●Do not raise the vehicle to a height greater than that required to replace the tire.
●Use a jack stand if it is necessary to get under the vehicle.
●Be sure to turn off the height control and stop the engine.
Take particular care when lowering the ve hicle to ensure that no one working on or
near the vehicle will be injured.
■Using the jack handle
Tighten all the jack handle bolts securely using a Phillips-head screwdriver, to prevent
the extension parts from coming apart unexpectedly.

Ensure that the shift lever is in P and depress the brake pedal.
Touch the Lexus emblem side of the
electronic key to the engine switch.
If any of the doors is opened or closed
while the key is being touched to the
switch, an alarm will sound to indicate
that the start function cannot detect the
electronic key.
Press the engine switch within 10 seconds of the buzzer sounding, keeping the
brake pedal depressed.
In the event that the engine switch st ill cannot be operated, contact your Lexus
dealer.
■Stopping the engine
Shift the shift lever to P and press the engine switch as you normally do when stopping
the engine.
■Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary measure, it is recommended that the electronic
key battery be replaced immediatel y when the battery is depleted. (P. 4 7 9 )
■Alarm
Using the mechanical key to lock th e doors will not set the alarm system.
If a door is unlocked using the mechanical key when the alarm system is set, the alarm
may be triggered. ( P. 6 8 )
■Changing engine switch modes
Within 10 seconds of the buzzer sounding, release the brake pedal and press the engine
switch.
The engine does not start and modes will be changed each time the switch is pressed.

■When the electronic key does not work properly
Make sure that the smart access system with push-button start has not been deactivated
in the customization setting. If it is off, turn the function on.

When trouble arises
The coolant level is satisfactory if it is between the “F” and “L” lines on the res-
ervoir. Reservoir

Radiator cap
Add coolant if necessary. ( P. 4 5 2 )
Water can be used in an emergency if
coolant is unavailable.
Start the engine and turn the air conditioning system on to check that the radi-
ator cooling fans operate and to check for coolant leaks from the radiator or
hoses.
The fans operate when the air conditioning system is turned on immediately after a
cold start. Confirm that the fans are oper ating by checking the fan sound and air flow.
If it is difficult to check th ese, turn the air conditioning system on and off repeatedly.
(The fans may not operate in freezing temperatures.)
If the fans are not operating:
Stop the engine immediately and contact your Lexus dealer.
If the fans are operating:
Have the vehicle inspected at the nearest Lexus dealer.

If the vehicle becomes stuck
Stop the engine. Set the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P.
Remove the mud, snow or sand from around the stuck tire.
Place wood, stones or some other material under the tires to help provide
traction.
Restart the engine.
Lock the center differential. (P. 3 3 3 )
Shift the shift lever to the D or R position and release the parking brake. Then,
while exercising caution, depress the accelerator pedal.
■When it is difficult to free the vehicle
Turn off TRAC or Active TRAC/VSC/Trailer Sway Control if these functions are ham-
pering your attempts to free the vehicle. ( P. 3 4 3 )
Carry out the following procedures if the tires spin or the vehicle becomes
stuck in mud, dirt, or snow:
Press to turn off TRAC or Active TRAC/VSC/
Trailer Sway Control.

●It is locked automatically to prevent theft of the vehicle. ( P. 1 8 3 )
●Is the window lock switch pressed?
The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be operated
if the window lock switch is pressed. ( P. 1 4 2 )
●The auto power off function will be oper ated if the vehicle is left in ACCES-
SORY or IGNITION ON mode (the engine is not running) for a period of
time. ( P. 1 8 3 )
●The seat belt reminder light is flashing
Are the driver and the front passenger wearing the seat belts?

●The parking brake indicator is on
Is the parking brake released? ( P. 1 9 1 )
Depending on the situation, other type s of warning buzzer may also sound.

●Did anyone inside the vehicle open a door during setting the alarm?
The sensor detects it and the alarm sounds. ( P. 6 8 )
To stop the alarm, turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode or start the
engine. The steering wheel cannot be turned after the engine is stopped
