5-1. Essential information

Fuel pump shut off system
NOTICE
Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked on to the ground, the fuel system has been
damaged and is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine.
To minimize the risk of fuel leakage when the engine stalls or an air-
bag inflates upon collision, the fuel pump shut off system stops sup-
plying fuel to the engine.
Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system
is activated.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to ACCES-
SORY mode or OFF.
Restart the engine.

5-2. Steps to take in an emergency
When trouble arises

Indicates that your vehi-

cruise mode).
Slow the vehicle by
applying the brakes.

Indicates that there is a
high possibility of a
frontal collision, or that
the pre-crash braking
function is operating.
Slow the vehicle by
applying the brakes.
Warning light display in radar cruise mode (if equipped)
In the following cases, the warning light may not be displayed even if vehi-
cle-to-vehicle distance decreases.
When your vehicle and the vehicle ahead are traveling at the same speed
or the vehicle ahead is traveling more quickly than your vehicle
When the vehicle ahead is traveling at a very low speed
Immediately after cruise control speed is set
At the instant the accelerator pedal is depressed
