7-1.Essential information
Press the switch to flash all of the turn
signal lights.
To turn them off, press the switch once
again.
■Emergency flashers
LC500: If the emergency flashers are used
for a long time while the engine is not run- ning, the 12-volt battery may discharge.
LC500h: If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is not operating (while the “READY” indica-
tor is not illuminated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.
1 Steadily step on the brake pedal
with both feet and firmly depress it.
Do not pump the brake pedal repeatedly
as this will increase the effort required to slow the vehicle.
2 Shift the shift position to N.
If the shift position is shifted to N
3 After slowing down, stop the vehi-
cle in a safe place by the road.
4 Stop the engine .
If the shift position cannot be shifted
to N
3 Keep depressing the brake pedal
with both feet to reduce vehicle
speed as much as possible.
4 To stop the engine ,
press and hold the engine switch
for 2 consecutive

■Charging system warning light*
*: This light illuminates on the multi-information display.
■Low engine oil pressure warning light (warning buzzer)*
If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer sounds
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by any auth orized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho-
rized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

Indicates that:
 The brake fluid level is low; or
 The brake system is malfunctioning
This light also comes on when the park ing brake is not released. If the light
turns off after the parking brake is fully released the system is operating nor-
mally.

Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.

■Rear passengers’ seat belt reminder lights (warning buzzer*1)*2
*1: Rear passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer:
The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert th e rear passengers that his or her seat belt is
not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 second s after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20
km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different
tone for 90 more seconds.
*2: This light illuminates on the center panel.
■Master warning light (warning buzzer)

The light will turn off after a few minu tes. In case the light does not turn
off even if the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, have the system

or any reliable repairer.
When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system
 Have the system checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

■If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute
If the tire pressure warning lig ht frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute when the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode , have it
checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer may not be heard due to being in a noisy location or audio sound.
WARNING
■If both the ABS and the brake system warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact any authorized Lexus retailer
or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliabl e repairer. The vehicle will become extremely unstable during braking, and the ABS system may fail, which could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
■When the electric power steering system warning light comes on
When the light comes on yellow, the assist to the power steering is restricted. When the
light comes on red, the assist to the power st eering is lost and handling operations of the steering wheel become extremely heavy. When steering wheel operations are heavier than usual, grip the steering wheel firmly and operate it using more force than usual.
■If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a loss of vehi-
cle control and result in death or serious injury.
●Decelerate to the lowest appropriate speed as soon as possible. Do not drive over 80 km/h (50 mph).
●Check and adjust the tire inflation pressure immediately.
●If the tire pressure warning light comes on ev en after tire inflation pressure adjustment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Have the flat tire replaced by nearest authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
●Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
■If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur
The tire pressure warning system may not activate immediately.

When trouble arises
The warning lights and warning buzzers operate as follows depending on the con-
tent of the message. If a message indicates the need for inspection by a dealer, have
the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
*: A buzzer sounds the first time a message is shown on the multi-information display.
■Warning messages
The warning messages explained below may differ from the actual messages according to operation conditions and vehicle specifications.
■System warning lights
The master warning light does not come on or flash in the following cases. Instead, a sepa- rate system warning light will come on along with a message or image shown on the multi-
information display.

Contact any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer if the problem cannot be repaired,
or if repair procedures are unknown.
When the hybrid system does not start,
the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the hybrid sys-
tem if the power switch is functioning
normally. Do not use this starting pro-
cedure except in cases of emergency.
1 Press the parking brake switch to
check that the parking brake is set.
( P.187)
Parking brake indicator will come on.
2Turn the power switch to ACCES-
SORY mode.
3 Press and hold the power switch for
about 15 seconds while depressing
the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the hybrid system can be
started using the above steps, the sys-
tem may be malfunctioning. Have the
vehicle inspected by any authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
The interior lights and head-

Exclusive jump starting terminal (your vehicle)
Positive (+) battery terminal (second vehicle)
Negative (-) battery terminal (second vehicle)
Solid, stationary, unpainted metallic point away from the exclusive jump starting
terminal and any moving parts as shown in the illustration
5 Start the engine of the second vehi-
cle. Increase the engine speed
slightly and maintain at that level for
approximately 5 minutes to
recharge the 12-volt battery of your
vehicle.
6 Open and close any of the door of
your vehicle with the engine switch
off.
7 Maintain the engine speed of the
second vehicle and start the engine
of your vehicle by
turning the engine switch switch> to IGNITION ON mode
.
8 Once the vehicle’s engine system> has started, remove the
jumper cables in the exact reverse
order from which they were con-
nected.
9 Close the exclusive jump starting
terminal cover, and reinstall the fuse
box cover to tits original position.
Once the engine starts, have the vehicle inspected at any autho-rized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer as soon as possible.
■Starting the engine when the 12-volt battery is discharged
The engine cannot be started by push-starting.
■To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
