KEYS AND DOORS

1Master key (black) ± The master key works in
every l ock. For your Lexus dealer to make you
a new key with built±in transponder chip, your
dealer will need it.
2 Sub key (gray) ± The sub key will not open the
trunk, trunk main switch and the glove box.
3Key number plate ± Keep the plate in a safe
place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle.
The master key and sub key each have a transponder
chip in their key head which is very important for the
immobiliser system function, so be careful not to lose
these keys. If you make your own duplicate key, you will
not be able to cancel the system or start the engine.
To protect things locked in the trunk or glove box when
you have your vehicle parked, leave the sub key with the
attendant. Since
the doors and trunk lid can be locked without a key,
you should always carry a spare master key in case you
accidentally lock your keys inside the vehicle.
If you should lose your keys or if you need additional
keys, duplicates can be made by a Lexus dealer using
the key number.
We recommend you to write down the key number and
keep it in safe place.

To open the glove box door, pull the lever. To lock
the glove box door, insert the master key and turn it
clockwise.
With the tail lights on, the glove box light will come on
when the glove box door is open.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in case of an accident or
a sudden stop, always keep the glove box door closed
while driving.

4. Insert a 15 mm (0.6 in.) spacer, and tighten down the
anchor bracket for your child restraint system with a bolt.
Torque the bolt to 16.5 ± 24.7 N´m (1.68 ±2.52 kgf´m,
12.2 ± 18.2 ft´lbf.).
To comply with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety
Standards, this model sold in Canada is provided with a
bracket set in the glove box, designed for use with any
of the 3 anchor locations shown in the illustration.
DRIVING POSITION MEMORY SYSTEM
The micro computer can memorize the position of the
driver's seat, the height of the shoulder belt anchor of the
driver's seat belt, and the positions of the tilt and
telescopic steering, and outside rear view mirrors. Two
different driving position profiles can be entered into the
computer's memory.
Recording a driving position in the computer's memory
can only be done when the ignition key is in the ºONº
position and the selector lever is in the ºPº position.

CAUTION
Do not use the ºFRONT WINDSHIELDº button during
cooled air operation in extremely humid weather. The
difference between the temperature of the outside air
and that of the windshield could cause the outer surface
of the windshield to fog up blocking your vision.
When you turn the ignition switch on after the removal
and installation of the battery terminal, the indicator light
may flash and the operating sound of the motor may be
heard. This does not indicate a malfunction.
You may hear the operating sound of the motor about 70
seconds after the ignition switch is turned off. This is not
also a malfunction.(c) Air filter
The air filter may clog after long use and reduce air flow.
You can inspect the filter easily.
When you inspect and replace the air filter, be sure to
turn off the fan.

CHASSIS
422The recommended cold tire pressures, tire size and
the vehicle capacity weight are given on the label
inside the glove box lid.
You should check the tire pressures every two weeks, or
at least once a month. And don't forget the spare! The
pressure for the spare tire should be 220 kPa (2.2
kgf/cm
2 or bar, 32 psi). Incorrect tire pressure can
reduce tire life and make your vehicle less safe to drive.
Low tire pressure results in excessive wear, poor
handling, reduced fuel economy, and the possibility of
blowouts from overheated tires. Also, low tire pressure
can cause poor sealing of the tire bead. If the tire
pressure is excessively low, there is the possibility of
wheel deformation and/or tire separation. So keep your
tire pr essures at the proper level. If a tire needs frequent
refilling, have it checked by your Lexus dealer. High tire pressure produces a harsh ride, handling
problems,
excessive wear at the center of the tire tread,
and a greater possibility of tire damage from road
hazards.
The following instructions for checking tire pressure
should be observed:
 The pressure should be checked only when the
tires are cold. If your vehicle has been parked for at
least 3 hours and has not been driven for more than
1.5 km or 1 mile since, you will get an accurate cold
tire pressure reading.
 Always use a tire pressure gauge. The
appearance of the tire can be misleading. Besides,
tire pressures that are even just a few pounds off can
degrade handling and ride.
 Do not bleed or reduce tire pressure after driving.
It is normal for the tire pressure to be higher after
driving.
 Never exceed the vehicle capacity weight. The
passengers and luggage weight should be located so
that the vehicle is balanced.
 Be sure to reinstall the tire valve caps. Without the
valve caps, dirt or moisture could get into the valve
core and cause air leakage. If the caps have been
lost, have new ones put on as soon as possible.
