: This light illuminates on the multi-information display.If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer soundsCalmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, bu t then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Actions to the warning lights or warning buzzers Warning light Details/Actions(U.S.A.)

(Canada) Indicates that:
 The brake fluid level is low; or
 The brake system is malfunctioning
→ Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Lexus
dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
Indicates that the brake pads are worn out (only the right-side pads can
be detected)
→ Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Warning light Details/Actions
(yellow)
Indicates a malfunction in:
 The electronically controlled br ake system (if equipped); or
 The parking brake system
→ Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

When trouble arises
1 Stop the vehicle in a safe place and
turn off the air conditioning system,
and then stop the engine.
2 If you see steam:
Carefully lift the hood after the
steam subsides.
If you do not see steam:
Carefully lift the hood.
3 After the engine has cooled down
sufficiently, inspect the hoses and radiator core (radiator) for any
leaks.

Cooling fan If a large amount of coolant leaks, immedi-
ately contact your Lexus dealer.
4 The coolant level is satisfactory if it
is between the “F” and “L” lines on
the reservoir.

your vehicle is overheating.
 The engine coolant temperature
gauge ( → P.69, 72) is in the red
zone or a loss of engine power is
experienced. (For example, the
vehicle speed does not increase.)

Manual” is shown on the
multi-information display.
 Steam comes out from under the

When trouble arises 2 Remove the engine cover.
Lift the front of the engine cover straight up
and then pull it forward.
3 Remove the caps and .
4 Add coolant through the inlet of the cap
up to the “F” line , and then
replace the cap .
5 Add coolant through the inlet of the cap
until it is full, and then replace the
cap .
6 Install the engine compartment cover
and engine cover.
Engage the claws of the engine cover to

When inspecting under the hood of
your vehicle
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in serious
injury such as burns. ●
If steam is seen coming from under the
hood, do not open the hood until the
steam has subsided. The engine com-
partment may be very hot. ●
Keep hands and clothing (especially a
tie, a scarf or a muffler) away from the
fan and belts.
Failure to do so may cause the hands
or clothing to be caught, resulting in
serious injury. ●
Do not loosen the coolant inlet cap,
the engine coolant reservoir cap or the
intercooler coolant reservoir cap while
the engine and radiator are hot.
High temperature steam or coolant
could spray out.
NOTICE
■
When adding engine coolant
Add coolant slowly after the engine has
cooled down sufficiently. Adding cool
coolant to a hot engine too quickly can
cause damage to the engine.
■
To prevent damage to the cooling sys-
tem
Observe the following precautions:
●
Avoid contaminating the coolant with
foreign matter (such as sand or dust
etc.).
●
Do not use any coolant additive.
