Vehicle status information and indicators 
Main meter moved to the right
By selecting menu icons on the
multi-information display, a variety of
driving-related information can be dis-
played. The multi-information display
can also be used to change display set-
tings and other vehicle settings.
Warning or suggestion/advice pop-up
displays are also displayed in certain
situations.
■
Menu icons
The menu icons will be displayed by
pressing or of the meter con-
trol switch. F SPORT models: The menu icons can be
displayed when the main meter is moved to
the right. ■
Liquid crystal display
Small spots or light sp ots may appear on the
display. This phenomen on is characteristic
of liquid crystal disp lays, and there is no
problem continuing to use the display.
The multi-information display is oper-
ated using the meter control switches.

conditions of the vehi cle sway warning of

The following settings can be changed
on of the multi-information display.

 Brightness and vertical position of
the head-up display Select to adjust the brightness or vertical
position of the head-up display.
 Tachometer/Eco Driving Indicator Select to display the tachometer, Eco Driv-
ing Indicator or no content.
 Display content Select to enable/dis able the following
items:
• Route guidance to destination/street
name
• Driving support system display *
• Compass (heading-up display)
• Audio system operation status *
: Make sure to enable this display when
using the driving support systems
 Display angle Select to adjust the angle of the head-up

Enabling/disabling of the head-up dis-
play
If the head-up display is disabled, it will
remain disabled when the engine switch is
turned off then back to IGNITION ON
mode. ■
Display brightness
The brightness of the head-up display can
be adjusted on of the multi-information
display. Also, it is automatically adjusted
according to the ambient brightness. ■
Head-up display automatic position
adjustment
If the display position is recorded into mem-
ory, the head-up display will be automati-
cally adjusted to th e desired position.

When the battery is disconnected
The customize settings of the head-up dis-
play will be reset.Using the head-up display

Caution for changing settings of the
head-up display
As the engine needs to be running while
changing the settings of the head-up dis-
play, ensure that the vehicle is parked in a
place with adequate ventilation. In a
closed area such as a garage, exhaust
gases including harmful carbon monox-
ide (CO) may collect and enter the vehi-
cle. This may lead to death or a serious
health hazard.

■
When changing the settings of the
head-up display
To prevent battery discharge, ensure that
the engine is running while the changing
the settings of the head-up display.

Before driving ●
To reduce key battery depletion when the
electronic key is to not be used for long
periods of time, set the electronic key to
the battery-saving mode. ( → P.108)●
As the electronic ke y always receives
radio waves, the battery will become
depleted even if the electronic key is not
used. The following symptoms indicate
that the electronic key battery may be
depleted. Replace the battery when nec-
essary. ( → P.403)
• The smart access system with push-but-
ton start or the wireless remote control
does not operate.
• The detection area becomes smaller.
•The LED indicator on the key surface
does not turn on.●
To avoid serious deterioration, do not
leave the electronic ke y within 3 ft. (1 m)
of the following electr ical appliances that
produce a magnetic field:
•TVs
• Personal computers
• Cellular phones, cordless phones and
battery chargers
• Recharging cellular phones or cordless
phones
• Table lamps
• Induction cookers ■

Confirmation of the number of regis-
tered keys
The number of keys already registered to
the vehicle can be confirmed. Ask your
Lexus dealer for details.

If “A New Key has been Registered
Contact Your Dealer for Details” is
shown on the multi-information display
This message will be displayed each time
the driver’s door is opened when the doors
are unlocked from the outside for approxi-
mately 10 days after a new electronic key
has been registered.
If this message is disp layed but you have not
had a new electronic key registered, ask
your Lexus dealer to check if an unknown
electronic key (other than those in your
possession) has been registered. NOTICE■
To prevent key damage ●
Do not drop the keys, subject them to
strong shocks or bend them. ●
Do not expose the keys to high tem-
peratures for a long period of time. ●
Do not get the keys wet or wash them
in an ultrasonic washer etc. ●
Do not attach metallic or magnetic
materials to the keys or place the keys
close to such materials. ●
Do not disassemble the keys. ●
Do not attach a sticker or anything else
to the surface of the electronic key. ●
Do not place the keys near objects that
produce magnetic fields, such as TVs,
audio systems and induction cookers,
or medical electrical equipment, such
as low-frequency therapy equipment. ■
Carrying the electronic key on your
person
Carry the electronic key 3.9 in. (10 cm)
or more away from electric appliances
that are turned on. Radio waves emitted
from electric applianc es within 3.9 in. (10
cm) of the electronic key may interfere
with the key, causing the key to not func-
tion properly.

together with the following devices that
emit radio waves
• Another vehicle’s electronic key or a
wireless key that emits radio waves

When the electronic key is placed near a
battery charger or electronic devices●
When the vehicle is parked in a pay park-
ing spot where radio waves are emitted.■
Note for the entry function●
Even when the electronic key is within the
effective range (detection areas), the sys-
tem may not operate properly in the fol-
lowing cases:
• The electronic key is too close to the win-
dow or outside door handle, near the
ground, or in a high place when the doors
are locked or unlocked.
• The electronic key is near the ground or
in a high place, or too close to the center
of the rear bumper when the trunk is
opened.
• The electronic key is on the instrument
panel, rear package tray or floor, or in the
door pockets or glove box when the engine is started or engine switch modes
are changed. ●
Do not leave the electronic key on top of
the instrument panel or near the door
pockets when exiting the vehicle.
Depending on the radio wave reception
conditions, it may be detected by the
antenna outside the cabin and the doors
will become lockable from the outside,
possibly trapping the electronic key
inside the vehicle. ●
As long as the electronic key is within the
effective range, the doors may be locked
or unlocked by anyone. However, only
the doors detecting the electronic key
can be used to unlock the vehicle. ●
Even if the electronic key is not inside the
vehicle, it may be po ssible to start the
engine if the electronic key is near the
window. ●
The doors may unlock or lock if a large
amount of water splashes on the door
handle, such as in the rain or in a car
wash, when the electronic key is within
the effective range. (The doors will auto-
matically be locked after approximately
60 seconds if the doors are not opened
and closed.) ●
If the wireless remote control is used to
lock the doors when the electronic key is
near the vehicle, there is a possibility that
the door may not be unlocked by the
entry function. (Use the wireless remote
control to unlock the doors.) ●
Touching the door lock sensor while
wearing gloves may delay or prevent lock
operation. ●
When the lock operation is performed
using the lock sensor, recognition signals
will be shown up to two consecutive
times. After this, no recognition signals
will be given.
●
If the door handle becomes wet while the
electronic key is within the effective
range, the door may lock and unlock
repeatedly. In this case, follow the follow-
ing correction procedures to wash the
vehicle:
• Place the electronic key in a location 6 ft.
(2 m) or more away from the vehicle.
(Take care to ensure that the key is not

Modes can be changed by pressing
the engine switch with the brake pedal
released. (The mode changes each
time the switch is pressed.) 1 Off The emergency flashers can be used.
2 ACCESSORY mode Some electrical components such as the
audio system can be used.
“ACCESSORY” will be displayed on the
meter.
3 IGNITION ON mode All electrical components can be used.
“IGNITION ON” will be displayed on the
meter.
■
Auto power off function
If the vehicle is left in ACCESSORY mode
for more than 20 minutes or IGNITION
ON mode (with the engine not running) for
more than an hour with the shift position in
P, the engine switch will automatically turn
off. However, this function cannot entirely
prevent the battery discharge. Do not leave
the vehicle with the engine switch in
ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode
for long periods of time when the engine is
not running.WARNING■
Stopping the engine in an emergency●
If you want to stop the engine in an
emergency while driving the vehicle,
press and hold the engine switch for
more than 2 seconds, or press it briefly
3 times or more in succession.

However, do not touch the engine
switch while driving except in an emer-
gency. Turning the engine off while
driving will not cause loss of steering
or braking control, however, power
assist to the steering will be lost. This
will make it more difficult to steer
smoothly, so you should pull over and
stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so.●
If the engine switch is operated while
the vehicle is running, a warning mes-
sage will be shown on the multi-infor-
mation display and a buzzer sounds.●
When restarting the engine after an
emergency shutdown, press the
engine switch.
Changing engine switch modes

LS500_OM_OM50F54U_(U) operating, a buzzer may sound to indicate
that the function has been temporarily can-
celed. If the alert type customization setting
is set to vibrate the steering wheel, the
buzzer will not sound. (The steering wheel
will vibrate.)
If a message urging operation of the steer-
ing wheel is displayed, operate the steering
wheel. ■
Steering assist function/lane centering
function
Depending on the vehicle speed, lane
departure situation, ro ad conditions, etc.,
the driver may not feel the function is oper-
ating or the function may not operate at all.
The steering control of the function is over-
rided by the driver’s steering wheel opera-
tion.
When the vehicle speed is approximately
31 mph (50 km/h) or less, the warning dis-
play of the lane centering function will not
operate.
Do not attempt to activate the steering
assist function. ■
Lane departure alert function
The warning buzzer may be difficult to hear
due to external noise, audio playback, etc.
Also, it may be difficult to feel steering
wheel vibrations due to the road conditions,
etc.
If the edge of the road is not clear or
straight, the lane departure alert function or
steering assist function may not operate.
In situations such as the following, it may not
be possible for the system to determine if
there is danger of a collision with an over-
taking vehicle in an adjacent lane:
●
When the relative speed between your
vehicle and surrounding vehicles is large
●
When driving around a curve
Do not attempt to activate the lane depar-
ture alert function.
■
Hands off steering wheel alert
When the system determines that the driver
has removed the hands from the steering
wheel while the steering assist function or
lane centering function is operating, a warn-
ing message is displaye d on the multi-infor- mation display. If th e driver continues to
keep the hands off of the steering wheel for
6 seconds, a buzzer sounds, a warning
message is displayed and the function is
temporarily canceled. This alert also oper-
ates in the same way when the driver con-
tinuously operates the steering wheel only a
small amount. If the stee ring assist function
is canceled, release the steering wheel and
then grip it again to enable the function.
In situations such as the following, the sys-
tem may not be able to detect when the
driver’s hands are on the steering wheel: ●
If a steering wheel cover is installed. ●
If the driver is wearing gloves. ●
If something is attached to the steering
wheel. ●
If the driver is gripping the wood trim,
stitched area, spokes, or other part of the
steering wheel that does not have sen-
sors.
In situations such as the following, the hands
off steering wheel alert may not operate
and the steering assist function and lane
centering function may operate even if the
driver’s hands are off the steering wheel: ●
If an object contacts the steering wheel. ●
If a wide object or ar ms are held in front
of the steering wheel. ■
Conditions in whic h functions may not
operate properly
In the following situations, the functions may
not operate properly: ●
There are shadows on the road that run
parallel with, or cover, the white (yellow)
lines.
●
The vehicle is driven in an area without
white (yellow) lines, su ch as in front of a
tollgate or checkpoint, or at an intersec-
tion, etc.
●
The white (yellow) lines are cracked,
“Botts’ dots”, “Raised pavement marker”
or stones are present.
●
The white (yellow) lines cannot be seen
or are difficult to see due to sand, etc.
●
The vehicle is driven on a road surface
that is wet due to rain, puddles, etc.
