Before driving

Front passenger occupant classification system precautions ●
If an adult sits in the front passenger se at, the AIR BAG ON indicator light is illu-
minated. If the AIR BAG OFF indicator is illuminated, ask the passenger to sit up
straight, well back in the seat, feet on the floor, and with the seat belt worn cor-
rectly. If the AIR BAG OFF in dicator still remain illumi nated, either ask the pas-
senger to move to the second seat, or if that is not possible, move the front
passenger seat fully rearward.●
When it is unavoidable to install the forw ard-facing child restraint system on the
front passenger seat, install the child restraint syst em on the front passenger seat
in the proper order. (  P. 151)●
Do not modify or remove the front seat. ●
Do not kick the front passeng er seat or subject it to severe impact. Otherwise,
the SRS warning light may come on to indicate a malfunction in the detection sys-
tem. In this case, contact your Lexus dealer immediately. ●
Do not use a seat accessory, such as a cushion or seat cover, that covers the seat
cushion surface. ●
Child restraint systems installed on the se cond seat should not contact the front
seatbacks.

panel inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s various systems.
For the purpose of explanation, the follo wing illustration displays all indica-
tors and warning lights illuminated.

ing on the target region.

If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system ligh t such as Multi Terrain ABS and the SRS airbag warning
light not come on when you start the engine , this could mean that these systems are
not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death or seri-
ous injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately if this
occurs.■ Warning lights
Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in any of the vehi-
cle’s systems. (  P. 826)

: These lights turn on when the “E NGINE START STOP” switch is turned
to IGNITION ON mode to indicate that a system check is being per-
formed. They will turn off after the en gine is started, or after a few sec-
onds. There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not come on,
or if the lights do not turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus
dealer for details.

■ Display off
A blank screen is displayed Displays inflation pre ssure of each tire. There
is no correlation between the order of the dis-
played values and the tire positions. If the inflation pressure of any tire drops a cer-
tain amount below the tire inflation pressure
value currently memorized in the system, the
displayed values will be highlighted.
It may take a few minutes to display the tire infla-
tion pressure after the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON
mode. It may also take a few minutes to display
the tire inflation pressure after inflation pressure
has been adjusted.
If the tire pressure warning light is on or flashing,
a message describing the situation will be dis-
played.

If a warning message of the Auto matic High Beam is displayed...
It may indicate a malfunction in th e system. Contact your Lexus dealer.■
Temporary lowering sensor sensitivity
The sensitivity of the sensor can be temporarily lowered.
To lower the sensitivity, push and hold on the inside rear view mirror for 15 to
20 seconds, and release. The indicator light on the inside rear view mirror will flash
to indicate that the sensitivity has been lowered.
When the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned off, the sensitivity will be
returned to its normal level. ■
Customization
The Automatic High Beam can be turned off.

Sounds and vibrations caused by the Crawl Control system ●
A sound may be heard from the engine compartment when the engine is
started or just after the vehicle begins to move. This sound does not indicate that
a malfunction has occurred in Crawl Control system. ●
Either of the following conditions may occur when the Crawl Control system is
operating. None of these are indicat ors that a malfunction has occurred.
• Vibrations may be felt through the vehicle body and steering.
• A motor sound may be heard after the vehicle comes to a stop.■
When there is a malfunction in the system
Warning lights and/or warning messages will turn on. (  P. 827, 852)
CAUTION■
When using Crawl Control and Turn Assist function
Do not rely solely on the Crawl Control an d Turn Assist function. This function does
not extend the vehicle’s performance limi tations. Always thoroughly check the
road conditions, and drive safely. ■
These conditions may cause the system not to operate properly
When driving on the following surfaces, th e system may not be able to maintain a
fixed low speed, which may result in an accident:●
Extremely steep inclines. ●
Extremely uneven surfaces. ●
Snow-covered roads, or other slippery surfaces.
NOTICE■
When using Turn Assist function
The Turn Assist function is a function to assist turning performance when driving off
road. The function may be less effective on paved road surfaces.

 : If equippedWhen the radar sensor detects possibilit y of a frontal collision, the pre-col-
lision systems such as the brakes and seat belts are automatically engaged
to lessen impact as well as vehicle damage.
■ Pre-collision seat belts (front seats only) If the pre-collision sensor detects that a collision is unavoidable, the pre-
collision system will retract the seat belt before the collision occurs.
The same will happen if the driver makes an emergency braking or loses
control of the vehicle. (  P. 94)
However, when the VSC system is disabled, the system will not operate in
the event of skidding.
■ Pre-collision brake assist When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system applies
greater braking force in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is
depressed. The system may not warn the driver using a warning light,
warning display and buzzer when the system detects and judges braking
operations.
■ AVS control When the system determines that there is a high possibility of a frontal col-
lision, the AVS optimizes the damping effect. (  P. 331)

Situations in which the pre-collision system does not function properly
The system may not function effectively in situations such as the following: ●
On roads with sharp bends or uneven surfaces ●
If a vehicle suddenly moves in front of your vehicle, such as at an intersection ●
If a vehicle suddenly cuts in front of your vehicle, such as when overtaking●
In inclement weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow or sand storms ●
When your vehicle is skidding such as the VSC system off●
When your vehicle is steeply inclined ●
When the axis of the radar is out of adjustment■
Automatic cancelation of the pre-collision system
When a malfunction occurs due to sensor contamination, etc. that results in the
sensors being unable to detect obstacles, the pre-collision system will be automati-
cally disabled. In this case, th e system will not activate even if there is a collision pos-
sibility. ■
When there is a malfunction in the system, or if the system is temporarily unus-
able

Park the vehicle in safe plac e and turn the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch to OFF. While the vehicle is moving, initialization is not performed.
Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified cold tire inflation
pressure level. (  P. 895)Make sure to adjust the tire pressure to the specified cold tire inflation
pressure level. The tire pressure warning system will operate based on
this pressure level.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP ” switch to IGNITION ON
mode.
Push and hold the tire pressure
warning reset switch until the tire
pressure warning light blinks
slowly 3 times and a message
appears on the multi-information
display.
Wait for a few minutes with th e IGNITION ON mode, and then
turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to OFF.
Registering ID codes
The tire pressure warning valve and tra nsmitter is equipped with a unique
ID code. When replacing a tire pre ssure warning valve and transmitter, it
is necessary to register the ID code of tire pressure warning valve and
transmitter. Have the ID code registered by your Lexus dealer.STEP 1
