LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) CAUTION■
Hitch
Trailer hitch assemblies have different weight capacities established by the hitch
manufacturer. Even though the vehicle ma y be physically capable of towing a
higher weight, the operator must determine the maximum weight rating of the par-
ticular hitch assembly and never exceed the maximum weight ra ting specified for
the trailer-hitch. Exceeding the maximum we ight rating set by the trailer-hitch man-
ufacturer can cause an accident resulting in death or serious personal injuries.■
When towing a trailer
Lexus recommends trailers with brakes that conform to any applicable federal and
state/provincial regulations. ●
If the gross trailer weight exceeds unbr aked TWR, trailer brakes are required.
Lexus recommends trailers with brakes that conform to all applicable federal and
state/provincial regulations. ●
Never tap into your vehicle’s hydraulic system, as this will lower the vehicle’s
braking effectiveness. ●
Never tow a trailer without using a safety chain securely attached to both the
trailer and the vehicle. If damage occurs to the coupling unit or hitch ball, there is
danger of the trailer wandering into another lane.
NOTICE■
When installing a trailer hitch
Use only the position recommended by your Lexus dealer. Do not install the trailer
hitch on the bumper; this may cause body damage. ■
Do not directly splice trailer lights
Do not directly splice trailer lights. Directly splicing trailer lights may damage your
vehicle’s electrical system and cause a malfunction.

treadwear.
■ Checking tires
New tread
Treadwear indicator
Worn tread The location of treadwear indi-
cators is shown by the “TWI” or
“ ” marks, etc., molded on the
sidewall of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and
pressure if not rotated.
■ Tire rotation
Rotate the tires in the order
shown. To equalize tire wear and
extend tire life, Lexus recom-

tire inspection.
Do not fail to initialize the tire
pressure warning system after
rotating the tires that the tire
pressure has been changed for
towing. ( P. 767)

LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) Installing tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
When replacing tires or wheels, ti re pressure warning valves and trans-
mitters must also be installed.
When new tire pressure warning va lves and transmitters are installed,
new ID codes must be registered in the tire pressure warning computer
and the tire pressure warning system must be initialized. Have tire pres-
sure warning valve and transmitter ID codes registered by your Lexus
dealer. ( P. 768)
Initializing the tire pressure warning system
■ The tire pressure warning system must be initialized in the following
circumstances:
● When rotating the tires in above situation.
● When the set tire pressure has been changed before towing.
( P. 895)
When the tire pressure warning sy stem is initialized, the current tire
inflation pressure is set as the benchmark pressure.
