When driving
LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) CAUTION■
When switching the vehicle height mode
Before lowering the vehicle height, check that there are no people under or around
the vehicle, and check for obstacles.
If you do not do this, body parts may be caught in the vehicle, possibly leading to an
accident. ■
Using the high mode
The high mode should only be used wh en driving on rough roads, for example
when driving off-road. Beca use the vehicle’s center of gravity will become higher
when in the mode, the vehicle may become unstable when turning abruptly, result-
ing in an accident. ■
When jacking up the vehicle or installing tire chains
Turn off the height control and stop the engine, otherwise the vehicle height may
change due to the automatic leveling func tion and you may catch part of your body
in the vehicle, resulting in an accident. ■
When crossing rivers
Select the high mode and turn off the height control. Drive at 18 mph (30 km/h) or
lower. Otherwise the vehicle height may change due to the automatic leveling
function, resulting in an accident. ■
If your vehicle must be towed
Put the vehicle height in the normal mode and turn off the height control, otherwise
the vehicle height may change due to th e automatic leveling function and you may
catch part of your body in the ve hicle, resulting in an accident.■
If your vehicle becomes stuck in a ditch
Turn off the height control, otherwise the vehicle height may change due to the
automatic leveling function, resulting in an accident.■
When loading cargo on the roof luggage carrier
Do not switch to high mode. Sudden steeri ng could cause the vehicle to lose stabil-
ity due to the vehicle’s higher center of gravity, possibly leading to an accident.

LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) Trailer towing tips
Your vehicle will handle differently when towing a trailer. In order to
avoid an accident, death or seriou s injury, keep the following in mind
when towing:
● Speed limits for towing a trailer vary by state or province. Do not
exceed the posted towing speed limit.
● Lexus recommends that the vehicle- trailer speed limit is 65 mph (104
km/h) on a flat, straight, dry road. Do not exceed this limit, the posted
towing speed limit or the speed limi t for your trailer as set forth in your
trailer owner’s manual, whichever is lowest. Inst ability of the towing
vehicle-trailer combination (tra iler sway) increases as speed
increases. Exceeding speed limits may cause loss of control.
● Before starting out, check the trailer lights, tires and the vehicle-trailer
connections. Recheck after driving a short distance.
● Practice turning, stopping and rever sing with the trailer attached in an
area away from traffic until you beco me accustomed to the feel of the
vehicle-trailer combination.
● Reversing with a trailer attached is difficult and requires practice. Grip
the bottom of the steering wheel and move your hand to the left to
move the trailer to the le ft. Move your hand to the right to move the
trailer to the right. (T his is generally opposite to reversing without a
trailer attached.) Avoid sharp or prolonged turning. Have someone
guide you when reversing to reduce the risk of an accident.
● As stopping distance is increased wh en towing a trailer, vehicle-to-
vehicle distance should be increas ed. For each 10 mph (16 km/h) of
speed, allow at least one vehicle and trailer length.
● Avoid sudden braking as you may skid, resulting in the trailer jackknif-
ing and loss of vehicle control. This is especially true on wet or slippery
surfaces.

When driving
LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) CAUTION■
To avoid accident or injury ●
Do not exceed the TWR, unbraked TWR, GCWR, GVWR or GAWR. ●
If the gross trailer weight is over 2000 lb. (907 kg), a sway control device with
sufficient capacity is required. ●
If the gross trailer weight is over 5000 lb. (2268 kg), a weight distributing hitch
with sufficient capacity is required. ●
Adjust the tongue weight within the ap propriate range. Place heavier loads as
close to the trailer axle as possible. ●
Do not exceed 65 mph (104 km/h), the posted towing speed limit or the speed
limit for your trailer as set forth in your trailer owner’s manual, whichever is low-
est. Slow down sufficiently before making a turn, in crosswinds, on wet or slippery
surface, etc. to help avoid an accident. If you experience a vehicle-trailer instabil-
ity from reducing a certain speed, slow down and make sure you keep your vehi-
cle speed under the speed of whic h you experience the instability.●
Do not make jerky, abrupt or sharp turns. ●
Do not apply the brakes suddenly as you may skid, resulting in jackknifing and
loss of vehicle control. This is especially true on wet or slippery surfaces. ●
Do not exceed the trailer hitch assembly weight, gross vehicle weight, gross axle
weight and trailer tongue weight capacities. ●
Do not use cruise co ntrol when towing.●
Slow down and downshift before descendi ng steep or long downhill grades. Do
not make sudden downshifts while descending steep or long downhill grades. ●
Vehicle-trailer instability is more likely on steep long down hills. Before descend-
ing steep or long downhill grades, slow down and downshift. Do not make sud-
den downshifts when descending steep or long downhill grades. Avoid holding
the brake pedal down too long or applying the brakes too frequently. This could
cause the brakes to overheat and re sult in reduced braking efficiency.

Headphones
With some headphones generall y available in the market, it may be difficult to catch
signals properly. Lexus recommends the use of Lexus genuine wireless head-
phones.
Contact your Lexus dealer for further details. ■
Volume ●
Adjust the volume when you connect th e headphones to the jack. Loud sounds
may have a significant im pact on the human body.●
Conversational speech on some DVDs is recorded at a low volume to empha-
size the impact of sound e ffects. If you adjust the volume assuming that the con-
versations represent the maximum volume level that the DVD will play, you may
be startled by louder sound effects or when you change to a different audio
source. Be sure to adjust th e volume with this in mind.
CAUTION■
To prevent accidents and electric shock
Do not disassemble or modify the controller. ■
When the controller is not used
Stow the controller.
Injuries may result in the event of sudden braking, sudden swerving or an accident.■

Maintenance and care
LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) CAUTIONThe engine compartment contains many mechanisms and fluids that may move sud-
denly, become hot, or become electrically energized. To avoid death or serious injury
observe the following precautions. ■
When working on the engine compartment ●
Keep hands, clothing and t ools away from the moving fa ns and engine drive belt.●
Be careful not to touch the engine, radiator, exhaust mani fold, etc. right after driv-
ing as they may be hot. Oil and other fluids may also be hot. ●
Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper or rags, in the engine
compartment. ●
Do not smoke, cause sparks or expose an open flame to fuel or the battery. Fuel
and battery fumes are flammable. ●
Be extremely cautious when working on the battery. It contains poisonous and
corrosive sulfuric acid.■
When working near the electric cooling fan or radiator grille
Be sure the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is OFF.
With the “ENGINE START ST OP” switch in IGNITION ON mode, the electric
cooling fan may automatically start to run if the air conditioning is on and/or the
coolant temperature is high. ( P. 758)■
When working on or under the vehicle ●
Do not get under the vehicle with just the jack supporting it.
Always use automotive jack st ands or other solid supports.●
Use eye protection to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc. from get-
ting in your eyes.
NOTICE■
If you remove the air cleaner filter
Driving with the air cleaner removed may cause excessive engine wear due to dirt
in the air.
