WARNING
■When the Stop & Start system is operating
●Depress the brake pedal and apply the parking brake when necessary while the engine is stopped by the Stop & Start system (while the Stop & Start indicator is on).
●Do not allow anyone to leave the vehicle wh ile the engine is stopped by the Stop & Start system (while the Stop & Start indicator is on). An accident may occur due to the automatic engine start function.
●Ensure that the engine is not stopped by the Stop & Start system while the vehicle is ina poorly ventilated area. The engine may restart due to the automatic engine startfunction, causing exhaust gases to collect and enter the vehicle, possibly resulting in
death or a serious health hazard.
NOTICE
■To ensure the system operates correctly
If any of the following situations occur, the Stop & Start system may not operate cor- rectly. Have your vehicle checked by any authorized Lexus retailers or Lexus autho-rized repairers, or any reliable repairers.
●While the driver’s seat belt is fastened, the driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder light flashes.
●Even though the driver’s seat belt is not fastened, the driver’s and front passenger’s
seat belt reminder light does not illuminate.
●Even though the driver’s door is closed, the open door warning light is illuminated or the interior light is illuminated when the inte rior light switch is in the door position.
●Even though the driver’s door is open, the open door warning light does not illumi- nated or the interior light does not illuminate when the interior light switch is in the door position.

This mode employs a radar sensor to detect the presence of vehicles up to
approximately 120 m (400 ft.) ahead, determines the current vehicle-to-vehicle
following distance, and operates to maintain a suitable following distance from
the vehicle ahead.
Note that vehicle-to-vehicle distance will close in when traveling on long downhill slopes.
Example of constant speed cruising
When there are no vehicles ahead
The vehicle travels at the speed set by the driver. The desired vehicle-to-vehicle dis- tance can also be set by operating the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control.
Example of deceleration cruising
When a preceding vehicle driving slower than the set speed appears
When a vehicle is detected running ahead of you, the system automatically deceler- ates your vehicle. When a greater reductio n in vehicle speed is necessary, the system applies the brakes (the stop lights will come on at this time). A warning tone warns you
when the system cannot decelerate sufficiently to prevent your vehicle from closing in on the vehicle ahead.
Example of follow-up cruising
When following a preceding vehicle driving slower than the set speed
The system continues follow-up cruising wh ile adjusting for changes in the speed of
the vehicle ahead in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle distance set by the driver.
Example of acceleration
When there are no longer any preceding vehicles driving slower than the set
speed
The system accelerates until the set speed is reached. The system then returns to con- stant speed cruising.

WARNING
■Handling the radar sensor
Observe the following to ensure the dynami c radar cruise control can function effec- tively.
Otherwise, the radar sensor may not detect correctly and could result in an accident.
●Keep the sensor and grille cover clean at all times. Clean the sensor and grille cover with a soft cloth so you do not mark or damage
them.
●Do not subject the sensor or surrounding area to a strong impact. If the sensor moves even slightly off po sition, the system may become inaccurate or
malfunction. If the sensor or surrounding area is subject to a strong impact, always have the area inspected and adjusted by an y authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified an d equipped professional.
●Do not disassemble the sensor.
●Do not attach accessories or stickers to the sensor, grille cover or surrounding area.
●Do not modify or paint the sensor and grille cover.
●If the radar sensor needs to be replaced, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

■Temporary cancelation of the LDA system functions
If any of the following occurs, the LDA system functions will be temporarily canceled. The functions will resume after the necessary operating conditions have returned.
●The turn signal lever is operated.
●The vehicle speed deviates from the operating range of the LDA system functions.
●When the lane lines cannot be recognized while driving.
●When the lane departure warning sounds.
The lane departure warning function will not operate again for a several seconds after it has been activated, even if the vehicle leaves the lane again.
■The lane departure warning
Depending on the audio system sound level or air conditioning fan noise while the audio system or air conditioning system is in use, it may be difficult to hear the warning sound.
■After the vehicle has been parked in the sun
The LDA system may not be available and a warning message ( P. 603) will be dis- played for a while after driving has started. When the temperature in the cabin decreasesand the temperature around the camera sensor ( P. 314) becomes suitable for its oper-
ation, the functions will begin to operate.
■If there are lane markers on only one side of the vehicle
The lane departure warning will not operate fo r the side on which lane markers could not
be recognized.
■Conditions in which the function may not operate correctly
In the following situations, the camera sensor may be unable to recognize lane markers
causing the lane departure warning function to operate incorrectly. However, this does not indicate a malfunction.
●When driving through an area with no lane markers, such as a tollbooth, a crossing or
before a ticket checkpoint
●When driving on a sharp curve
●When lane markers are extremely narrow or extremely wide
●When the vehicle leans to one side an unusual amount due to a heavy load or improper tire inflation pressure
●When the following distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead is extremely
short
●When the lane markers are yellow (These ma y be more difficult for the system to rec- ognize compared to white markers.)
●When the lane markers are broken, Botts’ dots (raised pavement markers) or stones
●When the lane markers are on a curb etc.
●When lane markers are obscured or partially obscured by sand, dirt, etc.
●When there are shadows on the road running parallel with lane markers, or if a shadow covers the lane markers
●When driving on a partic ularly bright road surface, such as concrete
●When driving on a road surface that is bright due to reflected light
●When driving in a location where the light level changes rapidly, such as the entrance to
or exit from a tunnel

●When sunlight or the headlights of oncoming vehicles are shining directly into the cam- era lens
●When driving on roads that are branching or merging
●When driving on a road surface that is wet du e to rain, previous rainfall, standing water, etc.
●When the vehicle experiences strong up-and-down motion such as when driving on an
extremely rough road or on a seam in the pavement
●When headlight brightness at nighttime is reduced due to dirt on the lenses, or when the headlights are misaligned
●When driving on winding roads or roads that are uneven
●When driving on rough or unpaved roads
■When changing the tires
Depending on the tires used, sufficient performance may not be maintainable.
■Warning messages for the LDA system
Warning messages are used to indicate a syst em malfunction or to inform the driver of
the need for caution while driving. ( P. 604)
WARNING
■Before using the LDA system
Do not rely solely on the LDA system. The LDA system does not drive the vehicle auto- matically, nor does it reduce the amount of care you need to take. As such, the driver
must always assume full responsibility fo r understanding his/her surroundings, for operating the steering wheel to correct the driving line, and for driving safely.
Inappropriate or negligent driving could lead to an accident.
■To avoid operating the LDA by mistake
Switch the LDA system off using the LDA switch when not in use.
■Situations unsuitable for LDA system
Do not use the LDA system in any of the following situations.
Otherwise, the system may not function correctly and could result in an accident.
●When driving with tire chains, a spare tire, or similar equipment
●When there are objects or structures along the roadside that might be misinterpreted as lane markers (such as guardrails, a curb, reflector posts, etc.)
●When driving on snowy roads
●When pavement lane markers are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, sand, dirt, etc.
●When there are visible lines on the pavement from road repairs, or if the remains of old lane markers are still visible on the road
●When driving on a road with lane closures due to maintenance, or when driving in a temporary lane

■Lexus parking assist-sensor display
When an obstacle is detected while the Lexus pa rking assist monitor system is in use, the warning indicator will appe ar in the top right of the screen even if the display setting has
been set to off.

■When using the Lexus parking assist-sensor
Observe the following precautions. Failing to do so may result in the vehicle be ing unable to be driven safely and possibly cause an accident.
●Do not use the sensor at speeds in excess of 10 km/h (6 mph).
●The sensors’ detection areas and reaction times are limited. When moving forward or reversing, check the areas surrounding the vehicle (especially the sides of the vehi-
cle) for safety, and drive slowly, using the brake to control the vehicle’s speed.
●Do not install accessories within the sensors’ detection areas.
■Limitations of the sensors
●RC200t: The detection areas of the sensors are limited to the areas around the vehi- cle’s front and rear bumpers.
●RC F: The detection areas of the sensors are limited to the areas around the vehicle’s
front corners and the rear bumpers.
●Certain vehicle conditions and surrounding environments, such as the following, may affect the ability of the sensors to correctly detect objects. Pay particular attention in
the following situations. Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being driven unsafely, possibly leading to an accident.
• When there is dirt, snow or ice on a sens or (Cleaning the sensor will resolve this
problem.) • When the sensor is frozen (Thawing the area will resolve this problem.)In especially cold weather, if a sensor is frozen the screen may show an abnormal
display, or objects may not be detected • When a sensor is covered in any way• When the vehicle is leaning considerably to one side
• When driving on an extremely bumpy road, incline, gravel, or grass • When the vicinity of the vehicle is noisy due to vehicle horns, motorcycle engines,air brakes of large vehicles, or other loud noises producing ultrasonic waves
• When there is another vehicle equipped with parking assist sensor in the vicinity • When the sensor is coated with a sheet of spray or heavy rain• When the vehicle is equipped with a fender pole or wireless antenna
• When a towing eyelet is installed • When a bumper or sensor receives a strong impact• When the vehicle is approaching a tall or curved curb
• When driving in harsh sunlight or intense cold weather

■Turning off both TRC and VSC systems
RC200t
To turn the TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold ( ) for more than 3
seconds while the vehicle is stopped.
The VSC OFF indicator light will come on and the “TRC OFF” will be shown on the
multi-information display.*
Press ( ) again to turn the systems back on.
RC F
To turn the TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold ( ) for more than 3
seconds.
The “TRC OFF” indicator light and the VSC OFF indicator light will come on.*
Press ( ) again to turn the systems back on.
*: On vehicles with PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system), pre-crash brake assist and pre-
crash braking will also be disabled. The pr e-crash safety system warning light will
come on and a message will be displaye d on the multi-information display. (P. 611)
■Expert mode (RC F)
When expert mode is selected, it is possible to drive in a more sporty manner than other
drive modes. Expert mode disables the TR C and VSC systems but the engine and
brakes may be controlled depending on the vehicle behavior.
To select expert mode, press ( )
when in SPORT S+ mode.
The “EXPERT” indicator will come on together
with the TRC OFF and VSC OFF indicators.
To cancel expert mode, press ( ) or
use the driving mode select switch to select a
driving mode other than SPORT S+ mode.

WARNING
■When the VSC is activated
The slip indicator light flashes. Always drive carefully. Reckless driving may cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indicator light flashes.
■When the TRC/VSC systems are turned off
Be especially careful and drive at a speed appropriate to the road conditions. As these are the systems to help ensure vehicle stability and driving force, do not turn the TRC/
VSC systems off unless necessary.
■Expert mode precautions
●Do not use on public roads.
●Use only when the road conditions and safety of the surrounding area can be ensured.
●Proper use of expert mode re quires a professional level of driving skill. When using
expert mode, always check the road condit ions and surrounding area and drive more carefully than usual.
■Replacing tires
Make sure that all tires are of the specified size, brand, tread pattern and total load capacity. In addition, make sure that the tire s are inflated to the recommended tire infla- tion pressure level.
The ABS, TRC and VSC systems will not function correctly if different tires are installed on the vehicle.Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional for further information when replacing tires or wheels.
■Handling of tires and the suspension
Using tires with any kind of problem or modif ying the suspension will affect the driving
assist systems, and may cause a system to malfunction.

◆Pre-crash warning
When a high possibility of a frontal
collision is detected, the pre-crash
safety system warning light flashes, a
buzzer sounds and a message is
shown on the multi-information dis-
play to urge the driver to take eva-
sive action.
◆Pre-crash brake assist
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system applies
greater braking force in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is depressed.
The system may not warn the driver using a warning light, warning display and
buzzer when the system detects and judges braking operations.
◆Pre-crash braking
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system warns the
driver using a warning ligh t, warning display and buzzer. If the system deter-
mines that a collision is unavoidable, the brakes are automatically applied to
reduce the collision speed.
◆Suspension control (if equipped)
When the system determines that there is a high possibility of a frontal colli-
sion, the operation of Adaptive Variable Suspension System ( P. 350) opti-
mally controls the damping force of the shock absorber.
PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)
: If equipped
When the radar sensor detects the possibil ity of a frontal collision, brakes are
automatically engaged to lessen im pact as well as vehicle damage.
The pre-crash safety system can be turn ed on and off as necessary by operat-
ing the switch. ( P. 357)
