■Buzzer operation and distance to an obstacle
A buzzer sounds when the sensors are operating.
●The buzzer beeps faster as the vehicle approaches an obstacle. When the
vehicle comes within the following distance of the obstacle, the buzzer
sounds continuously:
• Front center sensors (RC200t): Approximately 30 cm (1.0 ft.)
• Corner sensors: Approximately 30 cm (1.0 ft.)
• Rear center sensors: Appr oximately 35 cm (1.1 ft.)
●When 2 or more obstacles are detected simultaneously, the buzzer system
responds to the nearest obstacle. If on e or both come within the above dis-
tances, the beep will repeat a long tone, followed by fast beeps.
The diagram shows the detection range of th e sensors. Note that the sensors cannot detect obstacles that are extremely close to the vehicle.
The range of the sensors may change depe nding on the shape of the object etc.

■The Lexus parking assist-sensor can be operated when
●Front center sensors (RC200t):
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
• The shift lever is in a position other than P or R. • The vehicle speed is less than about 10 km/h (6 mph).
●Front corner sensors:
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode. • The shift lever is in a position other than P.
• The vehicle speed is less than about 10 km/h (6 mph). (At any speed when the shift lever is in R)
●Rear corner and rear center sensors:
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode. • The shift lever is in R.

WARNING
■When using the Lexus parking assist-sensor
Observe the following precautions. Failing to do so may result in the vehicle be ing unable to be driven safely and possibly cause an accident.
●Do not use the sensor at speeds in excess of 10 km/h (6 mph).
●The sensors’ detection areas and reaction times are limited. When moving forward or reversing, check the areas surrounding the vehicle (especially the sides of the vehi-
cle) for safety, and drive slowly, using the brake to control the vehicle’s speed.
●Do not install accessories within the sensors’ detection areas.
■Limitations of the sensors
●RC200t: The detection areas of the sensors are limited to the areas around the vehi- cle’s front and rear bumpers.
●RC F: The detection areas of the sensors are limited to the areas around the vehicle’s
front corners and the rear bumpers.
●Certain vehicle conditions and surrounding environments, such as the following, may affect the ability of the sensors to correctly detect objects. Pay particular attention in
the following situations. Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being driven unsafely, possibly leading to an accident.
• When there is dirt, snow or ice on a sens or (Cleaning the sensor will resolve this
problem.) • When the sensor is frozen (Thawing the area will resolve this problem.)In especially cold weather, if a sensor is frozen the screen may show an abnormal
display, or objects may not be detected • When a sensor is covered in any way• When the vehicle is leaning considerably to one side
• When driving on an extremely bumpy road, incline, gravel, or grass • When the vicinity of the vehicle is noisy due to vehicle horns, motorcycle engines, air brakes of large vehicles, or other loud noises producing ultrasonic waves
• When there is another vehicle equipped with parking assist sensor in the vicinity • When the sensor is coated with a sheet of spray or heavy rain• When the vehicle is equipped with a fender pole or wireless antenna
• When a towing eyelet is installed • When a bumper or sensor receives a strong impact• When the vehicle is approaching a tall or curved curb
• When driving in harsh sunlight or intense cold weather

WARNING
• When an object is directly under a bumper • When objects become too close to the sensors• When a non-genuine Lexus suspension (l owered suspension, etc.) is installed
In addition to the situations above, there are instances in which, because of their shape, signs and other objects may be judged by th e sensor to be closer than they are.
●The shape of an object may prevent the sensor from detecting it. Pay particular atten-
tion to the following:
• Wires, fences, ropes, etc. • Cotton, snow and other materials that absorb sound waves
• Sharply-angled objects •Low objects• Tall objects with upper sections projecting outwards in the direction of your vehi-
cle • People, animals and other moving objects• People wearing certain types of clothing
●The following situations may occur when using the Lexus parking assist-sensor.
• Depending on the shape of the object and other factors, the detection distance
may be shortened, or detection may not be possible. • Objects may not be detected if they are too close to a sensor.• There will be a short delay between the de tection of an object and display of the
detection. Even at slow speeds, there is a possibility that the object will come within a sensor’s detection area before the display is shown and a warning beep sounds.
• Thin posts or objects lower than a sensor may not be detected when approached, even if they have been detected once.• It might be difficult to hear beeps due to the volume of the audio system or air flow
noise of the air conditioning system.

NOTICE
■When using Lexus parking assist-sensor
In the following situations, the system may not function correctly due to a sensor mal- function etc. Have the vehicle checked by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
●The Lexus parking assist-sensor operation display flashes, and a beep sounds when no obstacles are detected.
●If the area around a sensor collides with something, or is subjected to strong impact.
●If the bumper or grille collides with something.
●If the display shows continuously without beeping, except when the switch has
been turned on.
●If a display error occurs, first check the sensor. If the error occurs even when there is no ice, snow or mud on the sensor, it is likely that
the sensor is malfunctioning.
■Notes when washing the vehicle
Do not apply intensive bursts of water or steam to the sensor area.
Doing so may result in the sensor malfunctioning.

the shift lever is in R and the engine
switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
The parking assist monitor system will be deactivated when the shift lever is inany position other than R.
When the shift lever is shifted to the R position and any mode button (such as“MENU”) is pressed, the Lexus parking
assist monitor is canceled, and the screen is switched to the mode of thebutton that was pressed.
