Remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the “+” termi-
nal facing up.
■Use a CR2032 lithium battery
●Batteries can be purchased at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional, local electrical appliance shops or camera stores.
●Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
●Dispose of used batteries according to local laws.
■When the card key battery needs to be replaced (if equipped)
The battery for the card key is available only at Lexus dealers. Your Lexus dealer can replace the battery for you.
■If the electronic key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
●The smart entry & start system and wireless remote control will not function properly.
●The operational range will be reduced.
■Certification for the key battery
●Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
●Dispose of used batteries according to the local laws.

■For normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents:
●Always work with dry hands.
Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
●Do not touch or move any other component inside the remote control.
●Do not bend either of the battery terminals.

8-1. Essential information
Press the switch.
All the turn signals will flash. To turn them off, press the switch onceagain.
■Emergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is not operat-
ing (while the “READY” indicator is not illuminated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.
Emergency flashers
The emergency flashers are used to wa rn other drivers when the vehicle has
to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to al ert the driver, front passenger and rear pas- sengers that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 seconds
after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on a front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensormay cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn- ing light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
The malfunction indicator lamp will come on if the fuel tank becomes completely empty. If the fuel tank is empty, refuel the vehicle immediately. The malfunction indicator lamp
will go off after several trips.
If the malfunction indicator lamp does not go off, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and eq uipped professional as soon as possible.
■Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insufficient or the voltage temporarily drops, the electric power steering system warning light may come on and the warning buzzer
may sound.
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Carry out the following procedure after the tire temperature has lowered sufficiently.
●Check the tire inflation pressure and adjust to the appropriate level.
●If the warning light does not go out even afte r several minutes, check that the tire infla- tion pressure is at the specifie d level and carry out initialization.
The warning light may come on again if the above operations are conducted without first allowing the tire temperature to lower sufficiently.
■The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such as natural air leaks and tire inflation pressure changes caused by temperature. In this case, adjustingthe tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few minutes).
■When a tire is replaced with the spare tire (if equipped)
The spare tire is not equipped with a tire pre ssure warning valve and transmitter. If a tire
goes flat, the tire pressure warning light will no t turn off even though the flat tire has been replaced with the spare tire.

Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery) power
has dropped because a long period of time has elapsed after shifting the shift lever to NA buzzer also sounds.
 Restart the hybrid system when starting the vehicle.
Indicates a malfunction in the hybrid system
A buzzer also sounds.  Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery) is low A buzzer also sounds. When stopping the vehicle for a long period of time,
shift the shift lever to P. The hybrid battery (traction battery) cannot be charged with the shift lever in N.
Indicates a malfunction in the EPS (Electric Power Steer-
ing) system A buzzer also sounds. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

Indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure warning sys- tem
 Stop the vehicle in a safe place and turn the power switch off then on again.If the tire pressure warning indicator flashes for 1
minute then illuminates, th ere is a malfunction in the system. Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-rized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qual-
ified and equipped professional.
Indicates that the tire position information cannot be rec- ognized Drive for a short while and check if the display
updates. If the radio wave conditions improve, the displaymay return to normal. If the tire pressure is still not
displayed after driving for several minutes, stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn the power switch offthen on again, and start driving.
If the tire pressure is still not displayed even after repeating this process several times, have the vehi-cle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Maintenance of the hybrid battery (traction battery)
cooling component is required The filter may be clogged, the air intake vent may beblocked or there may be a gap in the duct
 Have maintenance performed on the hybrid battery (traction battery) cooling component by any autho-rized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qual-
ified and equipped professional.
Indicates that the washer fluid level is low  Add washer fluid.
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 10 L (2.6 gal., 2.2 Imp. gal.) or less Refuel the vehicle.

Indicates that operation of large electricity consuming systems such as the air conditioning system are sus-
pended  Stop using unnecessary electric components to reduce electricity consumpt ion. Wait a while until
the electric power supply is restored.
Indicates that the EV drive mode is not available*The reason the EV drive mode is not available (the
vehicle is idling, hybrid battery [traction battery] charge is low, speed is higher than the EV drive modeoperating speed range, accelerator pedal is
depressed too much) may be displayed. A buzzer also sounds. Use the EV drive mode when it becomes available.

 Retrieve the electronic key from the vehicle and lock thedoors again.
An attempt was made to lock either
door by opening a door and putting the inside lock button into the lockposition, then closing the door by
pulling on the outside door handle with the electronic key still inside thevehicle.
 Retrieve the electronic key from the vehicle and lock thedoors again.
An attempt was made to lock the
doors other than using the smart entry & start system while the elec-tronic key was still inside the vehicle.
 Retrieve the electronic key from the vehicle and lock the
doors again.
Once
The electronic key has a low 12-volt battery. Replace the electronic key bat-
tery. ( P. 511)
Once
The steering lock could not be released within 3 seconds of the
power switch being pressed.  Press the power switch while depressing the brake pedal and
moving the steering wheel left and right.
