Back-up lights
Open the back door and remove
the cover. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove
the cover.
To prevent scratching to the vehicle,
wrap the tip of the flathead screw-
driver with a cloth, etc.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise and remove it.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb and then
install the bulb base to the light
unit by inserting it and turning it
clockwise. After installing the bulb base, wiggle
it lightly to make sure it is securely
installed and turn on the back-up
lights to visually check that there is no
light leaking from between the bulb
base and light unit. 1

grooves and install the cover.

Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by your Lexus
dealer. ●
Headlight low beams ●
Headlight high beams ●
Front turn signal lights (vehic les with triple-beam headlights)●
Parking lights and daytime running lights ●
Front fog lights ●
Cornering lights (if equipped) ●

LED lights
The headlight low beams, headlight high beams, front turn signal lights (vehicles with tri-
ple-beam headlights), parking lights and dayt ime running lights, front fog lights, corner-
ing lights (if equipped), front side marker lights (vehicles with tr iple-beam headlights),
side turn signal lights, stop/t ail lights, rear turn signal lig ht (vehicles with triple-beam
headlights), rear side marker lights, high moun ted stoplight, license plate lights, and outer
foot lights consist of a number of LEDs. If an y of the LEDs has burned out, take your vehi-
cle to your Lexus dealer to have the light replaced. ■
Condensation build-up on the inside of a lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction. Contact your Lexus dealer for mo re information in the following situations:●
Large drops of water have built up on the inside of a lens.●
Water has built up inside a headlight. ■
When replacing light bulbs

Before performing any light bulb replacement procedure, be sure to turn the power
switch off. Failure to do so may result in burns from hot components or a part of your
body may get caught on an operating comp onent, possibly causing serious injury.■
Replacing light bulbs ●
Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after turning off the
lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns. ●
Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is unavoid-
able to hold the glass portion, use and ho ld with a clean dry cloth to avoid getting
moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.●
Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so may result
in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headlight unit. This may damage the head-
lights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.●
Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the light bulbs, connectors, electric circuits
or component parts.
Doing so may result in death or se rious injury due to electric shock.■
To prevent damage or fire ●
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked. ●
Check the wattage of the bulb before installin g to prevent heat damage.

Press the switch. All the turn signal lights will flash. To turn
them off, press the switch once again.

Emergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is not operat-
ing (while the “READY” indicator is not illu minated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.
Emergency flashers The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the vehicle has
to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

sounds Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, bu t then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

Brake system warning light
Indicates that:
• The brake fluid level is low; or
• The brake system is malfunctioning
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
Brake system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The regenerative braking system;
• The electronically controlled brake system; or
• The electric parking brake
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (If equipped)
Charging system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging system
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous. (U.S.A.)

Malfunction indicator lamp
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The hybrid system;
• The electronic engine control system; or
• The electronic throttle control system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system;
• The front passenger occupant classification system; or
• The seat belt pretensioner system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

If both the ABS and the brake system warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediat ely and contact your Lexus dealer. The vehi-
cle will become extremely unstable during braking, and the ABS system may fail, which
could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury. ■
When the electric power steering system warning light comes on
When the light comes on yellow, the assist to the power steering is restricted. When the
light comes on red, the assist to the power steering is lost and handling operations of
the steering wheel become extremely heavy. When steering wheel operations are
heavier than usual, grip the steering wheel firmly and operate it using more force than
usual. ■
If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a loss of
vehicle control and result in death or serious injury. ●
Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressure
immediately. ●
If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjust-
ment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, change it
with the spare tire and have the flat tire repaired by the nearest Lexus dealer. ●
Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you could lose
control of the steering wheel or the brakes. ■
If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur
The tire pressure warning system may not activate immediately.

content of the message. If a message in dicates the need for inspection by a
dealer, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.If a warning message is displayed The multi-information display shows warnings of system malfunctions, incor-
rectly performed operations, and messages that indicate a need for mainte-
nance. When a message is shown, perform the correction procedure
appropriate to the message. 

Master warning light The master warning light also comes on or flashes in order to indicate that a message
is currently being displayed on the multi-information display.
Multi-information display
If any of the warning messages are show n again after the following actions have
been performed, contact your Lexus dealer.

Indicates that all maintenance is required to correspond to the driven distance
on the maintenance schedule

been reset.
(The indicator will not wo rk properly unless the message has been reset.)
Perform the necessary maintenance. Please reset the message after the main-

System warning lights
The master warning light does not come on or flash in the following cases. Instead, a sep-
arate system warning light will come on al ong with a message shown on the multi-infor-
mation display. ●
“Braking Power Low Visit Your Dealer”:
The brake system warning light (yellow) come on. (  P. 5 3 6 )●
“Antilock Brake System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer”:

There is a possible malfunction relating to the charging system or the 12-volt battery

The electronic key may not be functioning properly.

There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle. ●
There may be a malfunction in the immobilizer system. (  P. 8 5 )●
There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system. ●
The hybrid system may be malfunctioni ng due to an electrical problem such
as electronic key battery depletion or a blown fuse. However, depending on
the type of malfunction, an interim meas ure is available to start the hybrid sys-
tem. (  P. 5 6 2 )
One of the following may be the cause of the problem: ●
The 12-volt battery may be discharged. (  P. 5 6 8 )●
The 12-volt battery terminal connections may be loose or corroded.
(  P. 4 8 3 )If the hybrid system will not start Reasons for the hybrid system not starting vary depending on the situation.
Check the following and perform the appropriate procedure:
The hybrid system will not start ev en though the correct starting proce-
dure is being followed. (  P. 2 3 2 )
The interior lights and headlights are dim, or the horn does not sound or
sounds at a low volume.

The 12-volt battery may be discharged. (  P. 5 6 8 )●
One or both of the 12-volt battery terminals may be disconnected. (  P. 4 8 3 )Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures
are unknown.
When the hybrid system does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the hybrid system if the power switch is functioning nor-
mally.
Do not use this starting procedur e except in cases of emergency.
Turn the power switch to ON mode and check that the parking brake is set.

Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the power switch for ab out 15 seconds while depressing the
brake pedal firmly.
Even if the hybrid system can be starte d using the above steps, the system may
be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.The interior lights and headlights do not turn on, or the horn does not
sound.
