Driving
In the following situations, the RSA sys-
tem will notify the driver.
When the vehicle speed exceeds
the speed notification threshold of
the speed limit sign displayed, the
sign display will be emphasized and
a buzzer will sound.
 When the RSA system recognizes a
do not enter sign and determines
that your vehicle has entered a
no-entry area, the displayed sign will
flash and a buzzer will sound.
Depending on the situation, a notifica-
tion function may not operate properly.
■Setting procedure

■Automatic turn-off of RSA sign display
In the following situations, a displayed
speed limit sign and/or do not enter sign will
stop being displayed automatically:
●No sign has been recognized for a cer-
tain distance.
●The road changes due to a left or right
turn, etc.
In the following situations, stop and yield
signs will stop being displayed automati-
cally:
●The system determines that your vehicle
has passed the sign.
●The road changes due to a left or right
turn, etc.
■Conditions in which the function may
not operate or detect correctly
In the following situations, RSA does not
operate normally and may not recognize
signs, display the incorrect sign, etc. How-
ever, this does not indicate a malfunction.
●The front camera is misaligned due to a
strong impact being applied to the sen-
sor, etc.
●Dirt, snow, stickers, etc. are on the wind-
shield near the front camera.
●In inclement weather such as heavy rain,
fog, snow or sand storms.
●Light from an oncoming vehicle, the sun,
etc. enters the front camera.
●The sign is dirty, faded, tilted or bent.
●The contrast of electronic sign is low.
●All or part of the sign is hidden by the
leaves of a tree, a pole, etc.
●The sign is only visible to the front camera
for a short amount of time.
●The driving scene (turning, lane change,
etc.) is judged incorrectly.
●If a sign not appropriate for the currently
traveled lane, but the sign exists directly
after a freeway branches, or in an adja-
cent lane just before merging.
●Stickers are attached to the rear of the
preceding vehicle.
●A sign resembling a system compatible
sign is recognized.

328 ft. (100 m) ahead, determines the current vehicle-to-vehicle following dis-
tance, and operates to maintain a suitab le following distance from the vehicle
ahead. The desired vehicle-to-vehicle distance can also be set by operating the
vehicle-to-vehicle distance switch.
When driving on downhill sl opes, the vehicle-to-vehicle distance may become shorter.
Example of constant speed cruising
When there are no vehicles ahead
The vehicle travels at the speed set by the driver.
Example of deceleration cruising and follow-up cruising
When a preceding vehicle driving slower than the set speed appears
When a vehicle is detected running ahead of you, the system automatically decelerates
your vehicle. When a greater reduction in vehicle speed is necessary, the system applies
the brakes (the stop lights will come on at this time). The system will respond to changes in
the speed of the vehicle ahead in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle distance set by
the driver. Approach warning warns you when th e system cannot decelerate sufficiently to
prevent your vehicle from clos ing in on the vehicle ahead.
When the vehicle ahead of you stops, your vehi cle will also stop (vehicle is stopped by sys-
tem control). After the vehicle ahead starts of f, pushing the cruise control lever up or
depressing the accelerator peda l (start-off operation) will resume follow-up cruising. If the
start-off operation is not performed, system control continues to keep your vehicle
stopped.
When the turn signal lever is operated and your vehicle moves to an overtaking lane while
driving at 50 mph (80 km/h) or more, the vehi cle will accelerate to help to overtake a
passing vehicle.
The system’s identification of what is an overtaking lane may be dete rmined solely based on
the location of the steering wheel in the vehicl e (left side driver position versus right side
driver position.) If the vehicle is driven to a re gion where the overtaking lane is on a different
side from where the vehicle is normally driven, the vehicle may accelerate when the turn

lever in the desired direction.

If a vehicle is running ahead of you, the pre-
ceding vehicle mark will also be dis-
played.
Select a distance from the table below.
Note that the distances shown corre-
spond to a vehicle speed of 50 mph
(80 km/h). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance
increases/decreases in accordance
with vehicle speed. When the vehicle is
stopped by system control, the vehicle
stops at a certain vehicle-to-vehicle
distance depending on the situation.

●TRAC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRAC system is
turned off.
●The sensor cannot detect correctly
because it is covered in some way.
●When the brake control or output restric-
tion control of a driving support system
operates.
(For example: Pre-Collision System,
Drive-Start Control)
●The parking brake is operated.
●The vehicle is stopped by system control
on a steep incline.
●The following are detected when the
vehicle has been stopped by system con-
trol:
• The driver is not wearing a seat belt.
• The driver’s door is opened.
• The vehicle has been stopped for about 3 minutes.
If vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode
is automatically canceled for any reasons
other than the above, there may be a mal-
function in the system. Contact your Lexus
dealer.
■Automatic cancelation of constant
speed control mode
Constant speed control mode is automati-
cally canceled in the following situations:
●Actual vehicle speed is more than
approximately 10 mph (16 km/h) below
the set vehicle speed.
●Actual vehicle speed falls below approxi-
mately 20 mph (30 km/h).
●VSC is activated.
●TRAC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRAC system is
turned off.
●When the brake control or output restric-
tion control of a driving support system
operates.
(For example: Pre-Collision System,
Drive-Start Control)
If constant speed cont rol mode is automati-
cally canceled for any reasons other than
the above, there may be a malfunction in the
system. Contact your Lexus dealer.
■Brake operation
A brake operation sound may be heard and
the brake pedal response may change, but
these are not malfunctions.
■Warning messages and buzzers for
dynamic radar cruise control with
full-speed range
Warning messages and buzzers are used to
indicate a system malfunction or to inform
the driver of the need for caution while driv-
ing. If a warning messa ge is shown on the
multi-information display, read the message
and follow the instructions.( P.216,420)
■When the sensor may not be correctly
detecting the vehicle ahead
In the case of the fo llowing and depending
on the conditions, operate the brake pedal
when deceleration of the system is insuffi-
cient or operate the accelerator pedal
when acceleration is required.
As the sensor may not be able to correctly
detect these types of vehicles, the approach
warning ( P.242) may not be activated.
●Vehicles that cut in suddenly
●Vehicles traveling at low speeds
●Vehicles that are not moving in the same
lane
●Vehicles with small rear ends (trailers
with no load on board, etc.)
●Motorcycles traveling in the same lane
●When water or snow thrown up by the
surrounding vehicles hinders the detect-
ing of the sensor
●When your vehicle is pointing upwards
(caused by a heavy load in the luggage
compartment, etc.)

 When the vehicle speed exceeds a
certain speed. 
When the operating function is tem-
porarily canceled.
 When the operating function is dis-
abled manually.
 When the power switch is turned
off.
Vehicles with the Intuitive parking
assist
A mute button will be displayed on the
multi-information display when an
object is detected. To mute the buzzer,
press .
The buzzers for the intuitive parking
assist and RCTA function will be muted
simultaneously.
Mute will be canceled automatically in
the following situations:
 When the shift lever is changed.
 When the vehicle speed exceeds a
certain speed.
 When there is malfunction in a sen-
sor or the system is temporarily
unavailable.
 When the operating function is dis-
abled manually.
 When the power switch is turned
off.

The RCTA buzzer may be difficult to hear
over loud noises, such as if the audio system
volume is high.
■When “Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Unavailable” is shown on the
multi-information display
W a t e r , i c e , s n o w , m u d , etc., may be attached
to the rear bumper around the sensors.

mud, etc., from the attached to the rear
bumper around the se nsors to return the
function to normal.
Additionally, the func tion may not operate
normally when driving in extremely hot or
cold environments.

■Operation of the RCTA function
The RCTA function uses rear side radar sensors to detect vehicles approaching
from the right or left at the rear of the ve hicle and alerts the driver of the presence
of such vehicles by flashing the outside rear view mirror indicators and sounding a
buzzer.

The Parking Support Brake can be
enabled/disabled on the multi-informa-
tion display. All of the Parking Support
Brake functions (static objects and
rear-crossing vehicles) are
enabled/disabled simultaneously.

When the Parking Support Brake is dis-
abled, the PKSB OFF indicator ( P.78)

To re-enable the system when it was dis-
abled, select on the multi-information
display, select and turn it on. If the
system is disabled, it wi ll remain off even if
the power switch is turned to ON mode
after the power switch has been turned off.
If the hybrid system output restriction con-
trol or brake control operates, a buzzer will
sound and a message wi ll be displayed on
the Center Display and multi-information
display, to alert the driver. On vehicles with
a head-up display, the head-up display (if
equipped) will displa y the same message
as the multi-information display.
Depending on the situation, hybrid system
output restriction cont rol will operate to
either limit acceleration or restrict output
as much as possible.

■If the Parking Support Brake has oper-
ated
If the vehicle is stoppe d due to operation of
the Parking Support Brake, the Parking
Support Brake will be disabled and the
PKSB OFF indicator will illuminate. If the
Parking Support Brake operates unneces-
sarily, brake control can be canceled by
depressing the brake pedal or waiting for
approximately 2 seconds for it to automati-
cally be canceled. Then, the vehicle can be
operated by depressing the accelerator
pedal.■Re-enabling the Parking Support Brake
To re-enable the Parking Support Brake
when it has been disabled due to system
operation perform any of the following
operations.

Except F SPORT models
1 Normal mode
Provides an optimal balance of fuel econ-
omy, quietness, and dynamic performance.
Suitable for city driving.
Press the switch to change the driving
mode to normal mode when Eco drive
mode or sport mode is selected.
2 Eco drive mode
Helps the driver accelerate in an
eco-friendly manner and improve fuel
economy through modera te throttle char-
acteristics and by controlling the operation
of the air conditioning system (heat-
ing/cooling).
When not in Eco drive mode, if the driving mode select switch is turned to the left, the
Eco drive mode indicator will come on.

Sport mode
Controls the hybrid system to provide
quick, powerful acceleration. This mode
also changes the steering feel, making it
suitable for when agile driving response is
desired, such as when driving on roads
with many curves.
When not in sport mode, if the driving
mode select switch is turned to the right,
the “Sport” indicator will comes on.
F SPORT models (vehicles with
Adaptive Variable Suspension Sys-
tem)
1 Normal mode/Custom mode
Normal mode and custom mode are
selected by pressing the driving mode
select switch. Each time the switch is
pressed, the driving mode changes
between normal mode and custom mode.
When custom mode is selected, the “Cus-
