transmitters to operate garage

The panoramic Vista Roof™
and power sunshade are
equipped with an automatic
one-touch, express opening
feature. To open, press and

Global Open Front
Windows and Vista Roof™
You can open your front
windows and vent the Vista
Roof™ (if equipped)
simu\ftaneous\fy using your
Integrated Keyhead
Transmitter (IKT ). Press and
ho\fd
unti\f the two front windows and panoramic roof
begin to open. If any other
remote entry transmitter
contro\f is pressed during the
opening operation, both
windows and the panoramic
roof wi\f\f stop opening.

TM Keyless Entry
Syste\b
You can use
the key\fess
entry keypad
to \fock or
un\fock the doors without a
key. To un\fock the driver’s
door, enter your five digit
factory code (avai\fab\fe on
the owner’s wa\f\fet card in
the g\fove box or from your
authorized dea\fer.) To un\fock
a\f\f doors, enter your five digit
factory code and, within five
seconds, press 3-4. To \fock a\f\f
doors, simp\fy press 7-8 and
9-0 at the same time (you
do not need to enter your
factory code first). Refer to
your \bwner’s Guide for
more information.
Integrated Keyhead
Trans\bitter (IKT) and
Re\bote Entry Syste\b
Feat\fres
Your vehic\fe
comes
equipped with
two specia\f\fy
programmed
Integrated Keyhead Transmitters
(IKTs). IKTs are both a
programmed ignition key
and a remote key\fess entry
transmitter. Hand\fe the IKT
carefu\f\fy when starting the car
to avoid accidenta\f\fy pressing
any of the remote entry buttons.
Press once to un\fock the
driver’s door. The interior \famps
wi\f\f i\f\fuminate.
Press
twice to un\fock a\f\f
the doors. Press
once to \fock a\f\f
the doors and activate the
perimeter a\farm system.
Press
twice to confirm
a\f\f the doors and \fiftgate are
c\fosed. The horn wi\f\f chirp and
the turn signa\f \famps wi\f\f flash
once if a\f\f the doors and the
\fiftgate are c\fosed.
Press
to activate the
panic a\farm. The horn wi\f\f
sound and the turn \famps wi\f\f
flash. Press
again or turn
the ignition on to deactivate
the panic a\farm.
Press
twice within three
seconds to activate the car
finder. The horn wi\f\f chirp
and the turn \famps wi\f\f flash.
It is recommended that this
method be used to \focate your
vehic\fe, rather than using the
panic a\farm.
Press

to open the power \fiftgate
(if equipped).
Ensure that you keep the IKT
adhesive security \fabe\f in a safe
p\face for future reference.

Keyhead Transmitters are

an Auxi\fiary
Input Jack
\focated inside
the conso\fe bin. This a\f\fows
you to p\fug and p\fay auxi\fiary
audio devices, inc\fuding MP3
p\fayers. Press AUX repeated\fy
on your audio system to
access. When LINE IN
appears in the disp\fay, p\fug
in your auxi\fiary audio

Me\bory Feat\fre
The memory feature enab\fes
your vehic\fe to ‘remember’
the position of your seats and
mirrors. To activate, set your
seat and mirrors to the desired
position. Press and ho\fd either
1 or 2 on the driver’s door
unti\f two tones are heard.
Then, within three seconds,
press
on your Integrated
Keyhead transmitter (IKT ).
Another tone wi\f\f sound when
the activation is comp\fete.
Now when you press
on
your IKT, the seats and mirrors
wi\f\f automatica\f\fy move to the
desired position.
Reverse Sensing Syste\b
Your vehic\fe is equipped with
a reverse sensing system
which can warn you if there
is a \farge object behind the
vehic\fe that may be too \fow
for you to see. The system wi\f\f
sound a warning tone that
increases in frequency as the
object gets c\foser and wi\f\f
sound continuous\fy when the
object is \fess than 10 inches
away.
Note: Visibi\fity aids do
not rep\face the need to watch
where the vehic\fe is moving.

To open the power \fiftgate,
press
on the instrument
pane\f, or press twice
within three seconds on your
remote entry transmitter, or
press and re\fease the contro\f
button \focated on the \fiftgate.
To c\fose, press

on the \feft
rear quarter
pane\f in the
rear cargo area
or press
twice on your remote entry
transmitter. Keep c\fear of
the \fiftgate when operating
the rear switch. Your power
\fiftgate is equipped with \p
an obstac\fe detection
feature which wi\f\f either\p
stop or revert to a fu\f\f open
position when it en\pcounters

Your vehic\fe is
equipped with SYNC® – a
hands-free communications
and entertainment system

media features. For more

A\bbient Lighting
(if eq\fipped)
Your vehic\fe may be
equipped with an am\pbient
\fighting feature. The contro\f
is \focated on the center
conso\fe and, when activated,
i\f\fuminates footwe\f\fs, storage bins and
cupho\fders
with a choice
of severa\f
co\fors. Ambient \fighting is
operationa\f when the ignition
is on or in the ac\pcessory
position. Press the
contro\f repeated\fy to turn
on, cyc\fe through your co\for
choices, and turn off.
Overdrive Control/
Cancel with Grade Assist
Drive with the vehic\fe in
\bverdrive (D) for the best
fue\f economy. You can
deactivate overdrive by
pressing the transmission
contro\f switch on the side of \p
the shift hand\fe. Your vehic\fe
is equipped with a \pspecia\f
Grade Assist feature which
is automatica\f\fy activated
when overdrive is turned off.
Grade assist he\fps to provide
optima\f gear se\fection
and additiona\f engine
braking on hi\f\fy terrain. It
is recommended that you
return to \b/D (\bverdrive)
once you return to flat terrain.
To return to overdrive, simp\fy
press the transmission contro\f
switch again.
USB Port
Your vehic\fe is equipped with
a USB port inside the center
conso\fe. This feature a\f\fows
you to p\fug in media p\faying
devices, memory sticks, and
a\fso to charge devices if they
support this feature. For
more information, p\fease
refer to Accessing and Using
your USB port in the SYNC ®
supp\fement or the Navigation
system supp\fement.
1 2nd Row Fold Flat Seatback
To fo\fd down the rear seat, pu\f\f up on
the \fever on the outboard side of the
seat cushion and \fet the seatback rotate
downward into the \foad floor position.
To return to the upright position, rotate the
seatback upward unti\f the seatback \fatches.
The seatback wi\f\f c\fick when it is \focked
into position.
2nd Row Seat Recline
To adjust the second row seatback to
the desired position, whi\fe seated, pu\f\f
the re\fease \fever up and push the
seatback rearward.
2 2nd Row EasyFold™
Seatback Release (if \qeq\fipped)
The contro\f buttons are \focated on the
\feft-hand rear quarter trim pane\f
(accessib\fe from the \fiftgate area).
Press and ho\fd the contro\f to \fower the
seat. The top portion \fowers the right (40%)
seatback, and the bottom portion \fowers
the \feft (60%) seatback.
3 Front Heated and Cooled Seats
To activate these functions, press the
buttons \focated on the c\fimate contro\f
pane\f. Press
once for fu\f\f heat or
once for fu\f\f coo\f (three \fights), twice for
medium heat or medium coo\f (two \fights)
and a third time for \fow heat or \fow coo\f
(one \fight).
\b Rear Heated Seats (if eq\fipped)
The rear seat heat contro\fs are \focated
on the rear door pane\fs. To operate the
heated seats, push the top of the contro\f for
maximum heat, bottom of the contro\f for
minimum heat. Push again to deactivate.
F\fel Type and Tank Capacity
Front whee\f drive vehic\fes
have a fue\f tank capacity of
19.2 ga\f\fons (72.7 L) whi\fe A\f\f
Whee\f drive vehic\fes have
a fue\f tank capacity of 20.8
ga\f\fons (78.7L). Your vehic\fe
is designed to use “Regu\far”
un\feaded gaso\fine with
an octane rating of 87. Do
not use gaso\fine \fabe\fed as
“Regu\far” in high a\ftitude
areas with \bctane ratings \fess
than 87. Do not use E85 fue\fs
because your vehic\fe was not
designed to run on fue\fs with
more than 10% ethano\f.
Location of Spare Tire
Your spare tire and too\fs are
\focated in the rear cargo
area of the vehic\fe, under
the carpeted floor pane\f. The
temporary spare is designed
for emergency use on\fy and
shou\fd be rep\faced as soon
as possib\fe. For comp\fete
detai\fs on how to change
your tire, refer to the Roadside
Emergencies chapter in your
\bwner’s Guide.
Tire Press\fre
Check your tire pressure
at \feast once a month and
before \fong trips (inc\fuding
spare). The recommended
specifications are on the
Safety Certification Labe\f
or Tire Labe\f \focated on the
B-pi\far or the edge of the
driver’s door. As an added
safety feature, your vehic\fe is
equipped with a
Tire Press\fre
Monitoring Syste\b (TPMS)
that i\f\fuminates a \fow tire
pressure warning \fight when
one or more of your tires is
significant\fy under-inflated.

and Loading chapter in
your \bwner’s Guide for
more information. F\fel P\f\bp Sh\ft-Off Switch
The fue\f pump shut-off switch
stops the e\fectric fue\f pump
from sending fue\f to your
engine when your vehic\fe has
sustained a substantia\f jo\ft.
The switch is \focated behind
the pane\f on the \feft side
of the cargo area. For more
information regarding the fue\f
pump shut-off switch, refer
to the Roadside Emergencies
chapter of your \bwner’s Guide.
S.O.S. Post Crash
Alert Syste\b
Your vehic\fe is equipped with
the S.\b.S. Post Crash A\fert
system. This system provides
audib\fe and visua\f a\farms in
the event of a crash which
causes the dep\foyment of
airbags or the activation of
the safety be\ft pretensioners.
The turn signa\fs wi\f\f flash
and the horn wi\f\f sound. To
deactivate the system, press
the hazard flasher contro\f,
or you can press
on your
remote transmitter.
Roadside Assistance
Your new Linco\fn MKX
comes with the assurance
and support of 24-hour
emergency roadside
assistance. Roadside
assistance inc\fudes such
services as: \fockout assistance,
\fimited fue\f de\fivery, battery
jump starts, changing a flat
tire, towing, and winch out.

(AWD, if eq\fipped)
Your vehic\fe may be equipped
with A\f\f Whee\f Drive (AWD).
The AWD system is a\fways
active and uses a\f\f four whee\fs
to power the vehic\fe. This
increases traction, enab\fing
you to drive over terrain
and road conditions that
a conventiona\f two-whee\f
drive vehic\fe cannot. Refer to
your \bwner’s Guide for more
information.
Note: If your
vehic\fe is equipped with
AWD, a spare tire of a
different size (other than the
tire provided) shou\fd never
be used. Using a different size
cou\fd cause the AWD system
to stop functioning and
defau\ft to front whee\f drive.

down to increase/decrease the
speed of the wipers. Push the end
of the sta\fk:
• quick\fy for a sing\fe swipe
without fluid.
• and ho\fd briefly for three
swipes with washer fluid.

wash cyc\fe.
Speed Dependent Wipers: When
the wiper contro\f is on, the speed
of the wipers wi\f\f automatica\f\fy
adjust with the vehic\fe speed.
To operate your rear window
wiper, turn the rear wiper contro\f
to 1 (intermittent speed), 2 (norma\f
speed) or \b (off ). For a rear wash
cyc\fe, rotate and ho\fd the rear
wiper contro\f to either
position.

3 Steering Wheel Controls
To set the speed:
1. Press \bN.
2. Acce\ferate to the
desired speed.
3. Press SET + or
SET - and take
your foot off the
acce\ferator.
• To set a higher speed, press
and ho\fd SET + or press SET +
repeated\fy unti\f the desired
speed is reached.
• To set a \fower speed, press
and ho\fd SET – or press SET –
repeated\fy unti\f the desired
speed is reached.
• To return to a previous\fy set
speed, press RESUME.
• To turn off, depress the brake
peda\f or press \bFF.
V\bL +/- : Press to increase/

on the back of the center conso\fe
and a rear auxi\fiary power point
\focated on the \feft rear quarter
pane\f. Do not use power points
over the capacity of 12VDC/180W.
6 Message Center
The message
center disp\fays
important vehic\fe
information
through a constant
monitoring of vehic\fe systems.
The system wi\f\f a\fso notify you
of potentia\f vehic\fe prob\fems
with a disp\fay of system warnings
fo\f\fowed by \fong indicator chime.
Refer to your \bwner’s Guide for
more information.
7 Powertrain Malf\fnction/
Red\fced Power Light
This \fight i\f\fuminates when a
powertrain or an AWD ma\ffunction
has been detected. Contact an
authorized dea\fer as soon
as possib\fe.
8 Service Engine Soon LightThis \fight i\f\fuminates briefly
when the ignition is turned on. If
it remains on or is b\finking after
the engine is started, the \bn Board
Diagnostics System (\bBD-II) has
detected a ma\ffunction. Drive in
a moderate fashion and contact
your authorized dea\fer as soon
as possib\fe.
9 Airbag Readiness Ligh\qt
The airbag readiness \fight
i\f\fuminates briefly when the
ignition is turned on. If this \fight
fai\fs to i\f\fuminate, remains on
or continues to flash after the
engine is started, contact your
authorized dea\fer as soon as
possib\fe. A chime wi\f\f a\fso sound
if a ma\ffunction in the indicator
\fight has been detected.
10 ABS Warning LightThe ABS \fight i\f\fuminates briefly
when the ignition is turned on. If the
ABS \fight remains on or continues
to flash, a ma\ffunction has been
detected. Contact your authorized
dea\fer as soon as possib\fe. Norma\f
braking (\fess ABS) is sti\f\f functiona\f
un\fess the brake warning \fight
is
a\fso i\f\fuminated.
11 Check F\fel Cap Light
This \fight i\f\fuminates when
the fue\f cap may not be proper\fy
insta\f\fed. When you are ab\fe, check
to ensure that the cap is proper\fy
c\fosed. If you continue to drive with
this \fight i\f\fuminated, it may cause
the service engine soon \fight to
i\f\fuminate a\fso.
12 AdvanceTrac® with Roll
Stability Control™ Stability
Enhance\bent Syste\b
He\fps you maintain stabi\fity and
steerabi\fity of your vehic\fe during
a variety of road conditions. If your
vehic\fe becomes stuck, try turning off
the AdvanceTrac® system (by pressing
the contro\f) to a\f\fow whee\f spin and
he\fp increase momentum to he\fp dig
the vehic\fe out. The system defau\fts
to on and the contro\f wi\f\f i\f\fuminate
when turned off. Refer to your
\bwner’s Guide for more information.
13 Hazard FlasherPress to activate the front and rear
direction signa\fs when your vehic\fe
is disab\fed and is creating a safety
hazard for other motorists. Press
again to turn off. The hazard flashers
wi\f\f operate when the ignition is in
any position or when the ignition is
turned off.
1 A\ftoPress to activate automatic
temperature contro\f. The system
wi\f\f automatica\f\fy determine
fan speed, airflow \focation,
A/C (on or off ) and outside or
recircu\fated air based on your
temperature se\fection.

determine the temperature
setting for the entire vehic\fe

Press to activate/deactivate
air conditioning. For a MAX
A/C setting, press A/C,
and set the temperature to
60ºF (16ºC) and the highest
b\fower setting.

Cooled Seats

to activate. Press once
for fu\f\f coo\f (three \fights),
twice for medium coo\f (two
\fights) and a third time (one
\fight) for \fow coo\f. Press again
to deactivate (no \fights).

Heated Seats

to activate. Press
once for fu\f\f heat (three \fights),
twice for medium heat (two
\fights) and a third time (one
\fight) for \fow heat. Press again
to deactivate (no \fights).
7 EXT
Press to disp\fay the outside air
temperature. Press again to
return to interior temperature.
8 Man\fal Override ControlsA\f\fows you to manua\f\fy
determine where airflow
is directed (floor vents,
instrument pane\f vents,
rear seat floor vents or a
combination). To return to fu\f\fy
automatic contro\f, press AUT\b.
9 Recirc\flation ControlPress to recircu\fate cabin
air. Recircu\fated air may reduce
the amount of time to coo\f
down the interior of the vehic\fe
and may a\fso he\fp reduce
undesired odors from reaching
the interior of the vehic\fe.
10 D\fal
Press to activate dua\f zone
mode where the driver and
passenger have contro\f of
their individua\f temperature
settings. Press again to
return to sing\fe zone where
the driver’s settings wi\f\f
determine the temperature
for the entire vehic\fe.
11 Rear Window Defroster
Press to c\fear the rear
window of thin ice and fog.
Press again to deactivate.
The defroster wi\f\f turn off
automatica\f\fy after 10 minutes.
12 Defrost Distributes outside air through
the windshie\fd defroster and
vents to c\fear fog or thin ice
from the windshie\fd.
