1. With your vehicle parked outside of thegarage, switch your ignition to the onposition, but do not start your vehicle.
2. Press and release the function buttonthat you would like to program.
3. Hold your hand-held garage doortransmitter 1–3 in (2–8 cm) away from theHomeLink button you want to program.
4.Press and hold the hand-held transmitterbutton you want to program whilewatching the indicator light on HomeLink.Continue to hold the hand-held buttonuntil the HomeLink indicator light flashesrapidly or is continuously on.
Note:You may need to use a differentmethod if you live in Canada or havedifficulties programming your gate operatoror garage door opener. See Gate Operator/ Canadian Programming.
5.Press and hold the HomeLink button youprogrammed for two seconds, thenrelease. You may need to do this twiceto activate the door. If your garage doordoes not operate, watch the HomeLinkindicator light.
If the indicator light stays on, theprogramming is complete. Your deviceshould activate when the HomeLink buttonis pressed and released.
If the indicator light flashes rapidly, press andhold for two seconds and release theprogrammed HomeLink button. Repeat the"press/hold/release" sequence up to threetimes to complete the programming process.If your device still does not operate, you mustprogram your garage door. SeeProgramming Your Garage Door OpenerMotor.
To program additional buttons, repeat Steps1 – 4.

Programming Your Garage Door OpenerMotor
Note:You may need a ladder to reach theunit and you may need to remove the coveror lamp lens on your garage door opener.
1. Press the learn button on the garagedoor opener motor and then you have30 seconds to complete the next twosteps.
2. Return to your vehicle.

3. Press and hold the function button youwant to program for 2 seconds, thenrelease. Repeat this step. Depending onyour brand of garage door opener, youmay need to repeat this sequence a thirdtime.
Gate Operator / Canadian Programming
Canadian radio-frequency laws requiretransmitter signals to “time-out” (or quit) afterseveral seconds of transmission – which maynot be long enough for HomeLink to pick upthe signal during programming. Similar tothis Canadian law, some U.S. gate operatorsare designed to “time-out” in the samemanner.
Note:If programming a garage door openeror gate operator, it is advised to unplug thedevice during the “cycling” process toprevent possible overheating.
1. Press and release, every two seconds,your hand-held transmitter until theHomeLink indicator light changes to arapidly blinking or continuously on light.
2.Release the hand-held transmitter button.
3. Continue programing HomeLink. SeeIn-Vehicle Programming, Step 4.
Erasing the Function Button Codes
Note:You cannot erase individual buttons.
1. Press and hold the outer two functionbuttons simultaneously for approximately10 seconds until the indicator light abovethe buttons flashes rapidly.
2.When the indicator light flashes, releasethe buttons. You erased the codes for allbuttons.
Reprogramming a Single Button
To program a device to a previously trainedbutton, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the desired button. DoNOT release the button.

1. Remove the rubber covering (A) in thecupholder. With the buttons facingupward and the unlock button facing thefront of your vehicle, place the firstintelligent access key into the backupslot (B).
2. With the key in this position, press thebrake pedal, then the START button toswitch the ignition on and start yourvehicle.
Fast Restart
The fast restart feature allows you to restartyour vehicle within 20 seconds of switchingit off, even if it does not detect a validpassive key.
Within 20 seconds of switching your vehicleoff, press the brake pedal and press thebutton. After 20 seconds, you can no longerstart your vehicle if it does not detect a validpassive key.
Once your vehicle starts, it remains runninguntil you press the button, even if yourvehicle does not detect a valid passive key.If you open and close a door while yourvehicle is running, the system searches fora valid passive key. You cannot start yourvehicle if the system does not detect a validpassive key within 20 seconds.
Automatic Shutdown
This feature automatically shuts down yourvehicle if it has been idling for an extendedperiod. The ignition also turns off in order tosave battery power. Before your vehicleshuts down, a message appears in theinformation display showing a timer counting
down from 30 seconds. If you do notintervene within 30 seconds, your vehicleshuts down. Another message appears inthe information display to inform you thatyour vehicle has shut down in order to savefuel. Start your vehicle as you normally do.
Automatic Shutdown Override
Note:You cannot permanently switch off theautomatic shutdown feature. When youswitch it off temporarily, it turns on at thenext ignition cycle.
You can stop the shutdown, or reset thetimer, at any point before the 30-secondcountdown has expired by doing any of thefollowing:

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
WARNINGS
Always fully apply the parking brake.Make sure you shift into park (P) forvehicles with an automatic transmission.Switch the ignition off and remove the keywhenever you leave your vehicle.
Do not apply the brake pedal andaccelerator pedal simultaneously.Applying both pedals simultaneously formore than a few seconds will limit engineperformance, which may result in difficultymaintaining speed in traffic and could leadto serious injury.
Note:You may not be able to shift out ofpark (P) unless the intelligent access key isinside your vehicle.
Push Button Shift Transmission
Your vehicle is equipped with an electronictransmission. The shift buttons are locatedon the instrument panel. Select the gears bypressing and releasing the PRNDL buttons.
Every time you select a gear, the selectedbutton lights up. You also see the gearselected appear in the instrument cluster.
Understanding the Positions of yourElectronic Transmission
Note:Always come to a complete stopbefore putting your vehicle into and out ofpark (P).
Putting your vehicle in gear:
1. Fully press down the brake pedal.
2. Press and release the button on theinstrument panel of the gear you want toselect.

3. Using a tool, press and hold the brakeshift interlock switch. The shift buttonson the instrument panel flash when yourvehicle is in override mode.
4. With the override switch still held, pressthe neutral button (N) to shift from park.
5. Release the override button.
6. Your vehicle remains in Stay in Neutralmode for wrecker towing purposes orcan be shifted to the desired gear anddriven (if possible).
7. Release the parking brake.
If Your Vehicle Gets Stuck In Mud orSnow
Note:Do not rock your vehicle if the engineis not at normal operating temperature ordamage to the transmission may occur.
Note:Do not rock your vehicle for more thana minute or damage to the transmission andtires may occur, or the engine may overheat.
If your vehicle gets stuck in mud or snow,you may be able to rock it out by shiftingbetween forward and reverse gears,stopping between shifts in a steady pattern.Press lightly on the accelerator in each gear.

1. Pull the wiper blade and arm away fromthe glass. Press the locking buttonstogether.
2. Slightly rotate the wiper blade.
3. Remove the wiper blade.
4. Install in the reverse order.
Note:Make sure that the wiper blade locksinto place.
ADJUSTING THE HEADLAMPS
Vertical Aim Adjustment
The headlamps on your vehicle are properlyaimed at the assembly plant. If your vehiclehas been in an accident, the alignment ofyour headlamps should be checked by yourauthorized dealer.

Vertical Aim Adjustment Procedure
1.Park the vehicle directly in front of a wallor screen on a level surface,approximately 25 ft (7.6 m) away.
2.Measure the height of the headlamp bulbcenter from the ground and mark an 8 ft(2.4 m) horizontal reference line on thevertical wall or screen at this height.
Note:To see a clearer light pattern foradjusting, you may want to block the lightfrom one headlamp while adjusting theother.
3. Turn on the low beam headlamps toilluminate the wall or screen and openthe hood.

•DISP: Switch the display on or off. Youcan also touch the screen to switch thedisplay back on.
•Temperature, fan and climate controlbuttons: Control the temperature, fanspeed or settings of the climate controlsystem. See Climate Control (page 143).
911 Assist
WARNINGS
Unless the 911 Assist setting is set onbefore a crash, the system will not dialfor help which could delay response time,potentially increasing the risk of seriousinjury or death after a crash.
Do not wait for 911 Assist to make anemergency call if you can do it yourself.Dial emergency services immediately toavoid delayed response time which couldincrease the risk of serious injury or deathafter a crash. If you do not hear 911 Assistwithin five seconds of the crash, the systemor phone may be damaged or non-functional.
WARNINGS
Always place your phone in a securelocation in your vehicle so it does notbecome a projectile or get damaged in acrash. Failure to do so may cause seriousinjury to someone or damage the phonewhich could prevent 911 Assist from workingproperly.
Note:The SYNC 911 Assist feature must beset on before the incident.
Note:The SYNC 911 Assist feature onlyoperates in the U.S., Canada or in a territoryin which 911 is the emergency number.
Note:Before setting this feature on, makesure that you read the 911 Assist PrivacyNotice later in this section for importantinformation.
Note:If any user sets 911 Assist to on or off,that setting applies for all paired phones. If911 Assist is switched off and the phone isconnected to SYNC, an icon displays on thestatus bar.
Note:Every phone operates differently.While SYNC 911 Assist works with mostcellular phones, some may have troubleusing this feature.
If a crash deploys an airbag (excluding kneeairbags and rear inflatable safety belts [ifequipped]) or activates the fuel pumpshut-off, your SYNC-equipped vehicle maybe able to contact emergency services bydialing 911 through a paired and connectedBluetooth-enabled phone. You can use the volume control to adjust thevolume of the system voice prompts. Whileprompt is active, adjust the volume controlup or down to your desired setting.
Note:Depending on the current climatecontrol settings, the fan speed mayautomatically go down while issuing voicecommands or while making and receivingphone calls via SYNC to reduce the amountof background noise in the vehicle. The fanspeed will automatically return to normaloperation once the voice session ends. Fanspeed can also be adjusted normally duringa voice session, simply press fan buttons (orturn fan knob) to increase or decrease fanspeed to desired setting.
To disable this automatic fan speedreduction feature during voice sessions,press and hold the climate control AC andRecirculated air buttons simultaneously,release and then increase fan speed within2 seconds. To re-enable this feature, repeatthe above sequence.
